Even with WCS having added a shot from 11 feet I don't see orlando passing up on a shooter, especially when they need better outside shooting in general, and their is a real chance they lose Tobias Harris (their best scorer) in RFA.
WCS would play the 4 spot for Orlando and I can definitely see them taking him at 5.
BRIGGS wrote:I dont see any Knick fan complaining if its Winslow. Its a safe pick for the franchise in almost every way. You get a smart athletic two way player with upside. There is a % chance he could be the BPA in the entire draft(although I suspect that Towns will get that award.
I really think that if Towns, OK4 and Russell are gone at our pick that Winslow will be our pick with a chance of......sorry Briggs cause I know you don't wanna hear this but a chance of WCS being our pick if he can show some kind of offensive game during his workout for us and heard today that he impressed with his shot at a recent workout.
IMO WCS was a sleeping giant mainly because he may have always had the ability to score but wasn't able to fully show it. If he really is more capable of scoring outside of just dunks that makes him a much different player than people have been saying he is. His defense is elite and if he can hit a jumper and has at least functional posting ability then he's worth a top 5 pick. I think WCS is just a late bloomer and will get better offensively. I think it's all about focus and preparation with WCS. It's a mental shift in confidence and trust in his work on his game.
earthmansurfer wrote:I just hope the scouts do their DD because if we pass on Mudiay for Winslow, that is going to put this franchise back to task with all the other bad draft picks. (If Mudiay does turn into a star.)
This is not just make it or break it for the recognition of the Front Office, but we need this pick badly to workout for the coming year, along with our FA acquisitions.I don't just want a serviceable selection (e.g. Jordon Hill) at 4, I want whoever has the potential to be a star (in this system.) Don't cave in to Melo, he has 3 years or so left.
But there's a lot of players that will be available at 4 that have the potential of being a star but becoming a star is up to the player and not the team picking them. All these GM's have to go by is what they see with their eyes and what they hear from the player in the interview but they can't predict if they'll be a star cause that comes from how much that player wants it and how much work they'll put in to become a star and the GM can't say for certain if the player will do those things so we just gotta hope that Phil chooses the right kid.

If workouts can address the weaknesses of anybody in range....they will be the pick. WCS is a 7footer.....and the best defender. So its easier for him to show improvements in his offensive game vs others that are weak on defense. This give WCS the edge over others at 4....
Unless ok4.... kaminsky.....etc.....for example can workout with another 1st rounder...he can prove he has enough defense to be an elite player. But thats not going to happen in 1 on 1 workouts. Edge goes towards WCS. The best scenario is for the knicks to trade back into the 1st round and draft a scoring big if thats a glaring need. Me personally it should be a defensive PG or SG. If you have defenders that play center and PG....you have a solid foundation to build on.

Maybe Phil is getting his wing player who plays D but also has the offensive game in Winslow. But as I suspected I dont think it is was or will be Mudiay.

But it's just another draft site and some writer making predictions so why would this be relevant at all?? I don't ever trust any draft site and their predictions because what do they know that any draft fan doesn't know?? Do you think any GM in any sports goes to sites like that when they're doing their draft boards??
Draft express is one of the most extensively researched and tracked sites for draft stuff. Not sure how accurate they always are, but they pay real close attention and attend all the workouts and draft combine stuff in person. They're pretty legit. They have less of an agenda than, say, Chad Ford.

I like Winslow, but people will celebrate his drafting then shamelessly blast it a few years later when the higher risk players over take him.
Why are you so upset about the complaining the fans do? Fans will complain when the past 15 years have been really bad and the results for the first 14 months of the new president have been worse than anyone anticipated.
Fans will complain if we would of made the playoffs every year for the last 15 years and we got Gasol and LMA in free agency and Towns in the draft. There's people on here and every message board that will find things to complain about no matter the situation and that's annoying as all hell.

I realize this but you're missing my point which is that NOBODY can predict who will be what in the NBA so just because they dropped Mudiay a couple of spots and moved Kaminsky up a couple of spots doesn't mean they're draft rankings are correct. That's the point I was making. Where do you think draft express had guys like Darko Milicic and Anthony Bennett on their draft rankings boards?? I'll bet both were top 5 and I'm sure I can find many other busts that they had ranked high. So that's all I was trying to point out.
If we don't draft Russell or Mudiay --- who is our legit PG ? there is nobody in free agency
Mudiay is nothing special folks. If he were special, he wouldn't be this afraid to showcase his talent. The dude played less then 15 games in China, a league that he couldn't even dominate; but most of you sound here would not mind drafting this unknown commodity with the 4th over all pick. Some of you cares not about total package and smarts; all you care about is a stupid dude that can jump and dunk without a jump shot.
Give me: Russell, towns, Winslow, Lyles, and this draft will be a complete success

You don't need a star at the PG spot in the triangle and if we brought in a couple starters down low and our top pick was ends up being Winslow or WCS or any other position besides PG then I think the combo of Calderon, Gallo and Shved could run the point for us just fine.

Playa2, He is doing private work outs for teams.
You can't have towns. He'll be gone.
Briggs, the last few years the worst team did not get the top pick. At the very least we should have stayed at the 2. Can't blame winning two games on that.

Well the good thing about that is nobody on here will be making the pick and if Mudiay ends up being the pick it will be made by people who know much much more about the kid than you or anyone on here does and those people also know much much more about basketball than you or anyone on here so we will see what the big wigs do in less than a mobth.

how did Jose do this past year? also those 3 were part of the worst season in knicks history

You're right I can't know 100% for sure but I am 99.9% sure certain people will find something to complain about no matter what.

(i.e. not trade down)
He averaged 18/6/6 as an 18 year old. I am not sure a guy like Russell really could put up any better numbers than that either. Remember, we are talking about an 18 year old at the time. If he were playing in the chinese league next year, he would probably average 25/8/8 minimum.

Thanks to our dumb coach, we are in this situation. Had we ended up with one of the top three picks, we would be in a totally different position. When I mentioned that fact at the end of the season, newyork4ever blasted me; because he claimed that winning those two games will not be as detrimental as predicted.

So I guess you just scanned right past the part where I said if we signed two starters down low and drafted another starter with our pick at another position which would give us 3 new starters to play next to Melo then we could get by with a combo of Calderon who I absolutely think will be better next year with actual talent around him and Gallo and Shved?? Did you miss all that??

Hahahahaha I'm glad to see you're over it and I'm sorry that you're having soooooooo much trouble with it still but maybe by this time next year you'll be able to let go?? Just sayin.
