Knicks · Wow Karl Towns is shockingly talented (page 2)

It usually looks great until some one is standing between him and the basket...
Has Towns actually said he will not do a private work out for individual teams?
For me, Towns has shown me some glimpses of what he can do in the KU games I saw, but these workouts can be less than helpful at times.I'd love to see some of the workouts of the great draft busts in NBA history- wonder what we would see. I think someone posted a Joe Alexander workout somewhere.
Not sure Towns was given that much freedom on Kentucky to show everything he can do on the offensive end- one reason why we were watching a lot of Kentucky practices.
I dont know is there video of an athletic 7 foot 260 pound 19 year old out there in video land with a draft bust who can handle and shoot like that? Joe Alexander was an excellent athlete but I think he was 6-7 215 that played the 4 in college. He was not a great shooter in college and he had freedom to play. I dont think Kentucky used Karl Towns the right way.
I think Karl shouldve played the 4 and been a lock to take atleast 15 shots every game. How many shots did he take past 5 feet?
Joe Smith..6 10..225...

Ok4 should be great but this guy is off the charts. He might end up being the best big man anyone has watched. I dont know if he can even be comped.
I am incredibly impressed. I dont think 1 should be a conversation.
I told you. In fact, even WCShad a better game then you have seen thus far. He has a better offensive game then what we've seen

He looks like a more athletic 260 pound Kevin Durant who has the same potential from the perimeter as he does in the post. I cant imagine him not going #1. Look at his 3 point shooting quick quick release and smooth as it gets. His handle for his enormous physical size is off the charts. This guy will be the best player since Lebron. If he is aggressive he should be a superstar from day 1. We made a generational mistake not losing out. I thought Okafor and Towns were kind of neck and neck--I ve kind of leaned towards ok4 most of the year. Now I think the gap between Karl Towns and 2 is obvious and Karl Towns is the franchise player of this draft and everyone else has a much lesser player. Karl Towns will not have a player who can check him.ive been watching this kid since HS when i lived in NJ. hes amazing. to me he was like a stretch 4...but at kentucky he gained weight. It absolutely broke my heart that we cant get him now
Thanks to Fisher

But Towns is miles ahead. I think the next 10-15 years of the NBA as Bron slows down will be about AD and Towns.
Hey Briggs, would you say that playing at Kentucky, the true potential of Towns may have been hidden because of all the talent around him??? Maybe, like, other guys from Kentucky might be better than expected and didn't put up the stats they might have if they didn't play on an absolutely loaded team???
Agree. Towns, Russell, Winslow, and Stein are the stars of this draft

WCS doesnt have an offensive game yet. He doesnt know what to do with the ball and has no go to moves. That why he scores mostly on put backs. Hopefully over time in a free setting he can improve but if anyone is betting that he will be an NBA scorer any time soon they will be surprised. This is an offensive league right now. The best player is a semi athletic 6-2 PG.

Still putting your foot in your mouth.....weve had lengthy discussions why towns is better than ok4.....and you disagreed. ...now you are saying Stein has no offensive game....lmao.....but as soon as a video comes out showing stein hitting shots.....you will be back on stein just like towns.
Stein and Davis are the only players in the league who can guard him......but you will disagree as expected until a KU practice video goes viral. And b4 towns video you probably thought kaminsky can guard him.....
I do appreciate u sticking yourself out there on those predictions.....at least be consistent or admit you were wrong.....about towns.

You could make an argument that Anthony Davis is the best player. Or Lebron James.

I would easily say Steph Curry and Lebron---than next place down is a good margin.

You do understand that continuing to say the same thing over and over again and believing in it...does not make it true.

The truth hurts. History will prove how poor of a decision it was by fisher to allow his team to win those two stinky games. Instead of winning just 15 games out of 82, he now has 17 showing in the W column. What a huge difference!!!!!

Now you understand why I have been touting him for months as the next Dream. He's the closest thing to a sweet-shooting Olajuwon I have seen. He's incredible, and should have been a Knick. FUCK!

we never had a better than a 25% shot at him. All the assuming was silly

Wolves got the #1 pick because they "lost" KLove (for Wiggins)... I wonder if the Knicks would've had a better chance if they "lost" Melo last summer...

Right, but now that it's after-the-fact, we know we WOULD have had him. Thus my consternation.

We really really don't know that.

So how is Briggs putting his foot in his mouth? Based on...?
It continues to amaze me that folks are talking about guys who have not played a second in the NBA like they've been in the league for 10 years and have won titles and been selected to All-Star games.
It continues to amaze me that people can watch a workout video and, from that video alone, extrapolate that the player in that video will do all the things they see in the video at levels of success they never had in the games they played in.
Forget about any games that have already been played, or the fact that basketball is played on a court 5 on 5, with people in your face- not one on none, and that the pressure you face in a game has a habit affecting what you can do on a court.
Might be good to sit back, watch all the videos you can see, listen for info you can trust from the sources you trust, and then...maybe...you can speak with a degree of certitude about who the best picks are.
Of course waiting for a few years to see how things work out with the guys you are in love with now might also help, but that could be asking too much- calls for a degree of patience not often visible in a world of instant gratification. Opinions have some degree of equality, in that each of us can have one, but time reveals the truth, and the proud holder of this or that opinion today, might be seen as a fool 5 years from now.
The guys get paid to do this kind of thing- guys who know and see a lot more than we do- screw up on a regular basis, costing their teams millions of dollars, and chances to be successful.
So maybe folks should stand back and wait before deifying this or that player, seemingly in an attempt to end discussions and comparisons, which is what it sounds like some of your are doing.
There is NO way and I mean NO way that Okafor is as mobile and athletic as Towns. While Okafor will be a very accurate load inside Karl Towns will simply be able to take the ball from the top of the key and do whatever he wants from anywhere on the court. And we will find out if there is a defender(s) who can come close to what we are seeing from this guy--because I highly" doubt it.
The Wolves are in great great shape. I think they are also smart to see if they can part ways with Rubio--hes a good player but he cant shoot and he i s a walking injury. With Towns Wiggins Muhammed Dieng and Lavine you might be talking a legendary set of players on one nBA team over time. Id be VERY VERY surprised if they are not a 50 win team next year with some additional stabilizing moves.

If you play basketball explain me what Willie Steins offensive game looks like after viewing him for 3 years and a hundred games? Hes good at put backs--I have seen little else--limited post game terrible touch at the rim without jamming it poor decision making in space shooting form changes with e ach shot. What is it that I am not seeing? Practice and games are two different beasts. Im not saying Willie cant get better but hes far FAR from being an effective NBA offensive player right now.
Also Karl Towns did not play the way he did in that video at Kentucky. He was a foul prone kid with a great touch at the basket against mostly smaller players.
hopefully towns jump ships...
