Think so too, but he's still a "babe in the hardwoods" so I'm not willing to say never.
Might be used as a defender at the 2 on occasion, though.
Lol, someone posted this over at knickerblogger also. It's a 12 second video where Winslow misses 4 shots. It literally means nothing.
Winslow's form looks totally fine to me. You miss some you make some.
I do question whether he can actually play SG in the NBA though. I think he'll be a SF.
He's perfect for the new small ball style the league favors.
Not worried about this kid. I question his ceiling and whether he's the best pick the Knicks can make, but I think he'll be a very good player in the league.

It was just too transparent- almost the exact opposite of the cherry-picked clips that are sent out sometimes.
On the other hand, you have this from LivingLegend a few posts back
:
I know a media guy that was at the workout and in his words "Winslow missed SO MANY shots".

his release is okay but notice that he is leaning back on his way to the release which is a sign of shooting further than he is comfortable. it turns the shooting motion into more of a throwing motion. and the end result of that leaning back is he ends up inside the three-point line. he is going to have to work on developing range, as i imagine all collegians do.
what i think is no minor matter is the fact that he's a leftie, and that is a very cool attribute when it comes to spacing and floor balance.
i really like winslow.
Little bit of a "jackknife" motion when they were showing his feet while he was shooting right before the dunks, but I've see decent shooters do that before.
He had better success from the 3 than midrange last year, I think.
How different is the college 2 from the NBA?
"The most obvious difference - one that you'll notice whenever a NCAA game is played in an NBA arena - is the shorter three-point shot at the collegiate level. An NBA "three" is taken from 23'9" (or 22" in the corners).
The NCAA three-point line is a constant 19'9".
A subtler difference is the width of the lane, or the "paint." The NBA lane is 16 feet wide. In college it's 12 feet."
Knew it was shorter, but never looked it up to see how much.
That's a pretty significant difference, IMO.
Is it that short to make it easier to handle a zone D, which has always been in play in college, I think?

He is the same size as Shump, maybe half inch taller, longer arms..he can defend both SG and SF..

I don't think he's quick enough. That's the issue. He's got a prototypical SG size, but prototypical SF game.
i like his intangibles over mudiay and cauley stein, for mr winslow
focused, detailed oriented player, highly competitive, outstanding work ethic, basically non shooter before duke.
high motor, very physically and mentally tough. doesnt get rattled. winner. ncaa champion. undefeated in team usa play 22 and 0
Lethargic is how I would describe Winslow in that clip. Maybe he was tired, maybe he was tanking. Hard to tell from that small a clip.

Lower oxygen level in Denver. Takes a while to adjust to, hence Denver always has a good home court record.

Was in Denver last week, some amazing looking women there. Might have been the altitude that affected Winslow, you're right. Wouldnt put too much stock in this clip either.

Was only there for the night but as soon as I got to town there were quite a few drop dead sexy women around. Hippie chicks, country girls, you name it.

Maybe he was with some of those amazing women and his zipper lost a little altitude.
Just wondering.

If thats the case then Winslow will love playing in the NBA.

that sounds counterintuitive. you want to spread the floor as far as possible to stretch the zone, don't you?
at any rate, anybody not named steph curry has to develop another 4 feet of range and that is a whole other ball of wax in terms of mechanics and leg strength. seems to me steph curry is one of those guys who can shoot on the way up with a quick release so he did not need to develop range. i always envied guys who could do that... my release is always at the top of my jump.

I was thinking that if you could make the 3 more easy to hit, they would have to play more man/man, but I was only speculating.
I put up a video of Curry's shooting technique. He does not get as much height as some, but does get it off on the way up Pretty sure his dad had a very quick release and had a hand working on his boy's shot.
Mudiay doesn't have terrible motion, but his timing is all screwed up, IMO. Liked Winslow's a little more than his.
Wonder how Mudiay really looked for the Knicks.
If you've ever seen Bernard King's turnaround jumper, you would see that he is shooting on the way up. Not that tall, but his shot was virtually unblockable, even against taller opponents, and years ago a commentator talked about how he would get it off on the way up and throw a defender's timing off.
dell curry's if you ever saw it was pretty much steph's shot except steph gets it off a lil quicker... dell hardly jumped at all on his ... he was the best shooter that i ever saw until well.. his son came along..

I visit Boulder quite often from NY, and it always takes a couple of days to adjust. It's VERY helpful to consume large quantities of water when there. Makes acclimatization faster and smoother.
But definitely can impact athletic performance on the first day there.
