Knicks · Eric Bledsoe and pick 13 (page 1)

...for pick 4? Sam Spiegelman speculating this on theknicksblog.com:

http://theknicksblog.com/knicks/knicks-c...

Forgive me if this is being discussed elsewhere--I didn't see an open thread. Just logged on and saw this article on the main page...My first reaction was that it sounds enticing, esp. if Towns, Okafor and Russell are all off the board when we pick. Does PHX do this to draft Kristaps or Mudiay? Have trouble picturing that...We'd almost have to grab a big at 13 if we did this -- Turner, Kaminsky or WCS (in that order for me at 13). Adding Bledsoe's salary, reasonable as it may be ($13.5mm for next season), would still make it hard to add a premier big man in FA. Or maybe not -- Bledsoe at $13.5mm and say Greg Monroe at $15mm = $28.5mm. Could we swing that, add the player at 13, resign Shved (still trying to verify if we can go over the cap to bring Shved back -- anyone know?) and then go with smartly chosen league minimum types to round out the rest of the roster? Is Melo/Monroe/Bledsoe a good enough "big 3" (plus whoever at 13) to make some noise in the East? If we don't have the cap space--this is where stretching Calderon could come into play, to ensure something like this goes down. Calderon getting stretched out is the emergency wiggle room we could go to to make something like this work. Would it be possible to squeeze PHX for a little something more -- TJ Warren, Reggie Bullock, Archie Goodwin, pick 44? Do you guys like this deal better than Ty Lawson and pick 7 -- Bledsoe's bigger, younger and has a slightly better contract than Lawson (probably the better overall talent between the two) but obviously the pick's not as strong -- or who the hell knows man -- maybe we could wind up drafting a better player at 13 than at 7, or even at 4 (esp. if we're looking at Porzingis and Mudiay, 2 guys I keep going back and forth on like a game of Atari Pong--I just don't know about either guy).

Let's hear some thoughts on this. And happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Hope everyone had a good one!

it's a bad deal for a lot of reasons...

a)with or without calderon.. we are taking on more money... which equates to less to spend on FA...
b)bledsoe is probably a bad fit in the triangle... and he's already had meniscus surgery...
c)at #13 we are probably targeting lyles which if that is the case.. is a MONUMENTAL step down with any of the projected picks at #4 save for porzingis...

trading past the nuggets #7 pick.. it's a danger zone that should make all knick fans very nervous...

I wouldnt touch this deal. Moving from 4 to 13 is a big leap down. Truthfully if we did trade down i wouldnt go past 7

Everyone seems to be getting hurt. I love Bledsoe but with our karma I just don't see it ending well. He'll play great for half a season then blow out his knee and we'll have so much regret.

this "rumor" was a question in a chad ford chat room. it was proposed as a question from a reader.

Agree.....moving past 7 is definitely not good for the Knicks; unless if Phoenix is willing to shed two first round picks in this current draft by finding a partner to take Calderon

Noah (L.A.)
Sounds like the Suns like Knight more than Bledsoe. Any way they could use him and 13 to swap picks with the Knicks?

Chad Ford (1:28 PM)
I definitely think that could be an option. That's the sort of deal the Knicks would look at. But for cap reasons, would have to happen after the draft.

To call this a rumor is to call Chad Ford a reporter.
