Knicks · A trade of THJ for a chance to draft Devin Booker (page 1)

You all know I like THJ, but I think Booker can become the better player.
If we could draft Stein and Booker from Kentucky, I would consider this draft a success

Devin Booker NBA Draft Scouting Report and Video Breakdown
April 30, 2015
Video Analysis by Mike Schmitz. Scouting Report by Jonathan Givony

The son of Missouri great Melvin Booker (an outstanding player for many years in Europe), Devin Booker played an important role for Kentucky despite only turning 18 less than two weeks before the regular season kicked off. Playing for a team that struggled with floor-spacing due to starting three power forward/centers at the same time, Booker was the designated marksman who came off the bench for 21 minutes per game on average, and gave Kentucky's offense some much needed outside shooting and scoring efficiency (53% 2P%, 41% 3P%, 83% FT%).

Why not???? Detroit is willing to trade, if we can find a way to give them back Calderon for Jennings and a chance to obtain their pick, it can happen

Ugh Jennings. This board has salivated over this guy for 6 years. He sucksssssss. I'd rather have Calderon and I don't say that lightly.

NardDogNation @ 6/24/2015 12:12 PM
You can't really be dense enough to believe that we can deal away one of the worst value contracts in the league and get back the 8th pick in an intriguing draft. Yes, I could possibly see Calderon, THJr and cash incentives for Jennings, maybe Spencer Dinwiddie (who I like) but even that is a stretch. There is so little incentive for the Pistons to make any move with us especially since the only asset they'd be getting, is no better than what they already have in Caldwell-Pope.

I don't want either but would pursue Jennings since he has one less year on his contract and played well enough before his injury to intrigue a team like the Mavericks or Heat at or before the deadline. I'd do Brandon Jennings for Raymond Felton (to be waived) and a $3 million trade exception that would turn into cap space. Waiving Felton would create an additional $2.3 million in cap space as well.

I think the that the Heat would also do Mario Chalmers, Shabazz Napier and Chris Andersen for Brandon Jennings and a $4 million trade exception. Jennings is an improvement at the backup PG position for them and, as a team with 3 major free agents they have to re-sign (Dragic, Wade and Deng), they could use as much cap flexibility as possible.

Any time you're getting a shorter contract, you always have to give up something. So it wouldn't happen for us. Picking him up as a one year rental would be a mistake, I think.

As for those teams, yes, it's possible they'll try a scenario like those. More power to them.

please realize that booker has the same strengths and weaknesses as hardaway. his defense is terrible

THJr and cash are still net positive assets. The question is whether it is enough.

And why would it be a mistake to pick Jennings up as an expirer for Calderon?

Depends if they want the cap space or not. But I don't think we should give away another asset for a rental.

He's an awful percentage volume shooter. Not what I want from a PG. At least Calderon hits shots. In my opinion, Jennings is the biggest reason why Detroit was so poor this season. They should've been better than 32-50.

He is so young, though.

You looked at his face during the season and thought he was a HS junior.

He was a terrible defender though, no doubt about that, and he looked really weak. I think that why Calipari did not play him as much, even though Booker was clearly a better shooter than the twins.

Expect that he has a lot of maturing left to do, though.

WAKEUPKNICKS2015 @ 6/24/2015 2:24 PM
You serious? Booker is going top 10 in Chad Fords latest mock. You think the Pistons would give up there pick for Tim freaking hardaway jr? All we got was a second rounder for smith AND shumpert. Smh Knicks fans are retarded I swear to god

Booker is a far better shooter then THJ and has a better all around game. THJ does not have the approach I wish to see in a two guard and I don't believe he will ever have it. He always looks to shoot the rock and that is not very appealing to me

Love his shooting form- I can see the Klay comparisons.

Also watched some highlight vids of his shooting and was pretty impressed.

THJ is much more of a streak shooter at this point. You get the feeling that Booker will show consistency.

Still have issues with his D, and there were times when he seemed to be like a kid playing with adults on D. Played smaller than his size, IMO, especially as a defender.

Bottom line is that he does a lot more then THJ when he is on the court.

Your attitude is likely to get you booted from this forum. Suggest you tone down the insults and mockery. Picking fights with BRIGGS et al is downright idiotic.

What cap space? This deal does nothing to affect the Pistons payroll in the immediate future.

And as I said before, I have no interest in Jennings the player. Jennings the contract, however is fairly compelling though because of his relative trade value.

Although I really want Russell or Stein, but At the end of the day if the Knicks end up with two Kentucky players (Booker and Lyles) I will be very happy.
