What else can we ask Phil to do? He had all the guys we could draft in to work out and he felt Kris was the best player. Why kill Phil if he felt Kris was BPA? We all had our favorites but in the end we weren't at the workouts or interviews and we didn't have access to all the inside info from scouts who saw the guys play. I support the Pick based on what Phil said about what he felt was Kris's upside.

Probably the worse comparison ive seen.....but it was funny so I'll let it pass.

I'm sorry I wasn't talking about you. I was speaking rhetorically about those who are actually upset with Phil.

Euroleague Basketball is pleased to announce Kristaps Porzingis (215-C/F-95) of Baloncesto Seville as the winner of the 2014-15 Eurocup Rising Star Trophy. The 19-year-old Latvian big man comes off a strong season - his second in the competition - for Seville, which he led to the Eurocup Last 32. The Eurocup Rising Star Trophy recognizes the most outstanding player in the competition who was younger than 22 years of age on July 1 of the summer before the season started.Porzingis, who will turn 20 in August, surprised a lot of Eurocup fans with his combination of shooting ability, quickness and athleticism. Despite coming off the bench for all but three games this season and averaging less than 21 minutes per night, Porzingis led his team in scoring (186 points in 16 games, 11.6 ppg.) and index rating (13.1), while adding 4.1 rebounds and a team-best 1.2 blocks. He also shot 45.9% from behind the arc. Porzingis shined throughout the season, which made him a great choice as the 2014-15 Eurocup Rising Star!
Porzingis recorded Eurocup career-highs of 18 points, 4 assists, 4 steals and a performance index rating of 26 in Seville's road loss at Virtus Rome in Regular Season Game 3. He scored in double figures six times during the regular season, when he averaging 10.2 points on 50% three-point shooting and 4.1 rebounds. However, Porzingis did even better in the Last 32 despite facing better opponents! He had team-highs of 14 points against Telenet Ostend at home, 18 against Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius and 19 against PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Seville. Porzingis also scored 16 in his team's home win against Rytas. He boosted his numbers to 14 points and a 14.7 index rating in the Last 32. Porzingis led all Rising Star eligible players in performance index rating (13.1) this season, too.
Porzingis joins a select list of Rising Star trophy winners that also includes Victor Claver of Power Electronics Valencia, Milan Macvan of Hemofarm Vrsac, Donatas Motiejunas of Benetton Basket Bwin, Jonas Valanciunas of Lietuvos Rytas and Bojan Dubljevic of Valencia Basket, who over the previous two seasons became the first player to win the trophy twice

collegiate hoops eligibles does not make a superstar.
The next _ _ hope is born in Knickerbocker land in Kristaps Porzingis
by the Zenmaster Phil Jackson.
You can never ever get involved with a player Kristaps Porzingis skills Jan2015 thru May 2015 Phil
but in several weeks of June 2015 all the hype Kristaps Porzingis, shuts down Justice Winslow, Mudiay even Frank Kaminsky.
Kristaps Porzingis ?
You really really kidding around here. 2 yrs ?
1 yr ? away.
Which NBA Team does that ? 2000, 2010? 2014 or 2015?
Last time a famed person got stowed away for 1 to 1/2 year was frosh eligible called LARRY BIRD of Celtics from indiana.
WE ALL Knew about great accolades of Larry long before his debut. Oh by the way Larry Bird is an american star in making.
Kristaps Porzingis isn't the same thing here ! we don't know squat what he can do, from several Youtube videos or conference trophies
Just cause Kristaps Porzingis wowed NY in interview and with upside
who cares if this kid cannot be a superstar in NBA.
That's what its all about. He may be very good, he may be a BUST.
there is no guarantees with most of these unknown international prospects.
Knicks had alot of information from other USA school stars and passed on that
to select some international 1 year wonder, thin as a rail, will be tested in NBA and toughness the USA college
stars will develop cant be understated.
This pick will turn into a very sorry selection at #4th pick just like historically done by NewYork.
There is the rest of NBA and then the Knicks far far on island if their thinking they'd out do Or outbrain the rest.
Let's see in 1-2 years, Ain't gonna happen here.
Kristaps Porzingis wants to be in NewYork for experience rather than be a professional USA basketball player winning.
There ain't no help nor Free agents studs, stars coming here to assist Knicks developing this kid..
Stars don't want NewYork Knicks.
excuse me? who does he have to bang with? dale davis? anthony manson?
the guy is quick and 7 foot 2 he can shoot and handle the rock. we could just let him play the 2 for chrissake if we need to.
im so excited for this kid and the knicks.
Great pick and love that Phil is swinging for the fences. Our section had some cheers and we did what we could to negate some of the boos but it was definitely a bloodbath...

yep yes quick
7 foot 2 the Knick pick is gonna take it to Lebron James
7 foot 2 bringing the ball upcourt and creating his shot and for others.
This is a guard league with only 1 guy above guards & best in NBA that's Lebron James.
LBJ has 2 titles in 6 tries.
The guards are the focal part of league
Knicks has NO Guards to my knowledge. Unless the 7 foot 2 is going to play develop all 5 spots on
floor 1,2,3,4,5 then I must be seriously missing something cause this Kid has a way to go before
we all see what he can do in 1-2, possibly 2-3 years that makes it 2017/2018.
Is that what NewYork Pro basketball has come to ? Projects ?
prospect project hopefuls in NYC mecca ? really ? really ?
What or when Knicks last won NBA Titles ? 1970 ?
1973 ?
42 years and counting we're taking in projects whom can built toward triangle offense
and be BULLs part 2 Or Lakers part 3 , by that time neither Derrick Fisher (25$mil) or Phil Jackson ($60mil)
will be around by time we're respected and Lebron James will be near 34-35 yrs old by then.
That's ashame.
I am all with building a new team.
You dont pass up on NBA READY Players at least 5-12 (1 dozen) in NBA Deep draft
and I'm not suppose to be very upset we got to take route of NBA Prospect project stored away
*Cannot believe all the stuff I'm hearing as acceptable on this board.
There is no Lebron James in the draft, nor no Young Kobe's, no Younger Jordans None!.
We need to get with a script of successful blueprint of teams winning and built toward nba playoffs competion
but Knicks plan is never any plan to mimic anyones success.
We're all concerned with terms Triangle, Phil's philosophy and right players for the old system.
No adaptation for anything current in 2015 or future OR nor toward current skillsets of kids here coming
into younger NBA.
*Remarkable & Unbelievable in NYC.

Phil is gonna put the kid in situations where he can succeed. He's got talent and heart. Hopefully they can bring him along at a pace he can handle. He can contribute even now in a limited role.
I wanted WCS for his D but Kris has a lot of physical talent too. He's also quick and long and can block shots. He has good lateral quickness too. I don't expect him to be on the level of WCS but in time he can mature and learn how to defend at a good level using his great length. 7'2" with a 7'6" wingspan is legit size for a rim protector. He's already a decent help defender. He could develop into a great 2 way player.

Are you questioning Phil's ability to figure out how to use players to their best ability? I don't understand the snark.

I actually don't have a great sense of humor. I can be quite literal in real life. It's a problem on the internet.

Not a huge fan of this pick at #4.
