On Porzingis,
Briggs, prior to his workouts, you were saying something about his bones?
And you wanted an entire medical staff to do some research or something?
Was it pure speculation or did you have a reason/proof or know of somebody that had issues?
Im sure the Knicks did that. This was my pick the day after I saw his workout and I knew how good he was. I was never privied to see him really play like that. Hes going to be great and at worst very good. He looked ectomorphic so I had some concerns but the way he moved in that workout I knew what he was.
Told you about him on the first page of the draft thread which you ignored, Johnny come lately.
Actually Nickerbocker took him in the draft game last year:) Until that draft workout I had reasonable skepticism but at the end that was my pick--bt that matters not hes a Knick and were much better off.
That was last season, the statute of limitations ran out, its in the UK bylaws, ask the mods! I was the first to mention him for this years draft I believe. BigDaddyG, mentioned him last season as well.
Hey props we all win here I really believe that. Guys who are skeptical will turn. Im embarrassed for my hometown of Brooklyn for the people to act like that at Barclays.
I agree. NY fans usually boo the pick, no matter what the sport, so it doesnt surprise me. Just hope that Dolan will be patient.
yeah i felt that boos were uncalled for. The kid is talented just might need time. Wish we had our pick next year

Truly impressive physical attributes. He's very coordinated too. Usually these long kids are clumsy but he's not having any problems with his agility and movement. I hope for nothing but the best for this kid.
he is going to remain lean and be more of a coiled spring as he further matures physically. has anyone seen how long his arms are? the kid is hardly leaving his feet for a dunk. that length is going to be very valuable on the nba level.
Kris is going to be able to play over the top of the D a lot. He's athletic and long. I doubt anyone will be able to stop his jumper either. He'll block shots too. He's just not a banger. We'll add bangers to the roster so he doesn't have to be that.
I knew it ... Good job Phil this kids a cant miss 7'2 sharpshooting big..I have not seen a player with his size have such a silky smooth j with a 7'6 wingspan ... This guy also has a 38 inch vertical he's super athletic and again he averaged 11 vs grown men in the best league in Europe ... People are going to eat crow when this kid takes the league by storm ...

I'll come around. I just fell for Hezonja. I'll watch more tape and maybe get happy

I think he can start off on unit 2 as an energy big--Id love to just put him as back up 5 so he can learn the position. I know they may want him to be some kind of hybrid but learning the post and understanding that the post is 80-90% of his game which can be augmented by some long distant shooting--but that the post is his bread and butter needs to get stronger --doesnt need to be too much wight more power and explosion get some post moves down and get to work.
Yea I would love to have him gain some weight and become our center of the future... This guy is an special talent his upside. I'm hoping he's the face of this franchise for years to come we've needed one for a long wile

Yeah you didn't like him for a while when I was pushing for him but you came around on him not to long ago.

We all had our favorites but now that's over. Kris is a Knick now. My main issue was that he has so much to develop physically, but then if you think about it, if KD and KG can play in the league and they weigh the same as this kid then he can play in this league too. He's gonna put on weight in time but he has already played against bigger players and even tho he gets banged a bit he still managed to contribute. So I think he'll contribute early on as he matures.
Hopefully he'll be able to use the other bigs banging on him to his advantage until he puts weight on by learning how to somewhat flop enough to get offensive fouls called. I actually hate flopping but if the others are gonna do it then why can't we?? I actually wish Melo would learn some cause I think he's the biggest star name in the league that doesn't get enough fouls called on him when he's in the paint.
I think the first steps to solidifying Kristaps on the right path is really focusing his post skills on both ends. He needs to learn 4-5 go to post moves--when/how to pass out of the post and on the other end how to use his incredible length to his advantage right away. I think he should be able to be a really good help defender both on the perimeter and in the post. The ONLy thing I dont want to see is him setting up behind the 3 point line. Bargani was allowed to do this and it wrecked his career. The 3 ball is an augmentation shot to what should be a mid range to low post game.

Not sure he will hanging around at the 3...you know that won't happen in our offense.
I've actually seen games where he shows some touch on his passing. Much of the stuff I saw him doing was the high pick and pop stuff- similar to GS.
He's been working on more bank shooting, and I've seen a few examples in games.
The McHale stuff, which you mentioned, would be the way to go- nobody could block his shot. Walton used to have some excellent moves using the backboard, too.
