Knicks · Berman saying the Knicks will get Guillermo Hernangomez in the second round (page 2)

Given he's an FA, if he's not in NYK next year than he's definitely in Westchester. What's up with labeyrie? Is he coming to NY next year?

I think someone posted that he was on the summer league roster but I am not sure.

Knickerbockers are killing us tonight! *grins

There was a once a 2nd round guy from Spain who was considered unathletic and a back to the basket type that might take a couple years to make it to the NBA that profiled pretty closely to Willy Hernangomez....

Maybe the Knicks ended up with the next Marc Gasol and Paul Gasol tonight....

or maybe not...

Good call. Groom him in the triangle in the D league then bring him up for next year.

Older than Porzingis, but still looks young.

Yup, would be better to have him here to work on the Triangle but also provide a friend for Porzingis. Maybe Phil is a little smarter than we think.

Berman, as usual, did not notice that he is not under contract at this time. Seems to have trouble with the specifics at times.

All I know is that the Knicks foreign scouts are well respected and Clarence Gaines Jr. went over their too. They were checking out a lot of guys. Remember they mentioned that they could bring in some Euro guys. Don't know about these guys but we'll know eventually.

Well given the played next to each other, we got a great look at both. Either we got 2 great players or 2 zeroes. I hope these guys are a modern incarnation of the Gasol brothers. That seems to be their upside potential.

He probably does but they make nothing in the d league. I think the highest salary is 25 grand.

This one Ill disagree with. I think there were options along the perimeter that really couldve made sense. I dont think the NBA is going the way of this kind of player and we had some real chances there at 37? to really help the perimeter defense of the team. We do get a big guy and we dont have any right now--but I think there were better options.
WAKEUPKNICKS2015 @ 6/26/2015 12:03 AM
Gave up 2 future second rounders for him. Not bad. Think the plan will definitely be to keep him in Westchester and develop him. Really like the move, giving our top 5 pick a guy he's played with before. Should make adjusting to the NBA lifestyle a little bit easier for them

in all seriousness - from what year did we even have a 2nd rounder to trade? 2020? 2021?

WAKEUPKNICKS2015 @ 6/26/2015 12:05 AM
Everyone needs to understand that them sticking together was contingent upon Phil drafting him. They have both bought in, just like Kris and Grant did. It's just not as publicized. This is a great move.

This kid was moving way up boards. Lots of people tapped the Spurs to stash him away. Kid was playing right next or Porzingis so we got a good look for sure. I see a lot in the scouting reports that is similar to the perception of Marc Gasol when he was drafted. His skills look legit on tape.

We did just acquire a 2nd rounder for Prigs and another in the JR/Shump trade. Not sure of the year for either of those.

I was wondering how they got him. So they still have money? Did they move the extra 2019 picks?

Hes not 7 feet he doenst have long arms hes not an athlete I think he'll have trouble scoring over the length and athleticism of the NBA. I was taking Norman Powell there and to me it was a no brainer. That was a high pick Im VERY surprised we got such a high pick but this one shouldve went towards team athleticism/perimeter defense=jmho

He was projected to go around there in the draft. Another teammate of Kristaps was selected by Denver.
meloshouldgo @ 6/26/2015 12:16 AM
I am happy with this draft
WAKEUPKNICKS2015 @ 6/26/2015 12:16 AM
This is just such a low key great move that nobody is noticing. Wasn't a reach either, Guillermo was slotted to go at 32 in Fords latest mock. Phil bringing in our top 5 picks buddy down low, who he already has chemistry with, when they're both international players is such a great move...will make it much easier to get acclimated to NYC. Not only that, but center is a huge position of need for us. This guy could get a roster spot next year! He was drafted higher than Early was I believe.
VDesai @ 6/26/2015 12:19 AM
maybe he's not 7'0" but he's 6'11....which is litearlly the next best thing.

Guy has a good back to the basket type of offensive game. Throwback like Marc. I think he can play in the NBA. I like his skill level at this size/age. These guys were playing good valuable mins in the Spanish league.
