What is the plan???.What will it be next week???

This is the very reason I created the "CLARITY" thread. You simply haven't been paying attention to what Phil has been saying. He said he wants to have a FUTURE and Present component to the team. He wants sustainable contention. So it's not just a win now situation. He's gonna have young players coming up thru the system and a real culture for the franchise from D League to NBA. That can't be hard to understand.
Personally i still think dolan was the biggest factor in keeping melo. I think phil wanted a true rebuild which i was all for especially since im big on building through the draft. The reason golden state is good is by building through the draft

You aren't going to contend with D league players..that's just bullshit...

Revisionist history. We didn't have any picks when Phil got here. He actually added picks since he got here and this was the one draft we had picks and he still added more tonight. Phil didn't want to have NOTHING on the roster. So he kept Melo so that he at least had something to build off of in the beginning of the process. We have a TON of young players in the fold now. We're likely to keep adding as we go along. We still have Free Agency for the Present.
Is this because the Knicks selected Porzingis? Would you have started this thread if they took Frank or Justise?

Can we get to Free Agency before you make up your mind what we'll have on the team?

No one? You don't know that. Our money is green and there are a lot of FA's looking for a new home. I'm pretty sure that we'll have some success in Free Agency. We don't know what the sales pitch will be from Phil to these FA's. We'll just have to wait and see.
Is this the question should be asked last year?
I thought it was an old thread pop up.

Last year the plan was to win now and building thru FA..
If Phil got the Hawks to take THJ for a mid 1st he very well might get some good players to sign here.

The plan is to draft for later and let those kids develop and spend money on the known quantities you can get in FA now to help the team win now. Instead of building for 3 to 5 years, this type of plan is for now and the next 7 years after.

I honestly believe Phil thought we were going to be better this past season- many of us did.
Granted, Phil may have thought play offs, and few of us did.
The only deal for Melo that made sense for a rebuilding team was a S&T - and maybe there wasn't one available, or good.

But why would a 17 win team invest half its resources (free agency but not draft) in winning now? There are teams coming off double or triple the wins and investing all their resources in winning now. We can't compete with them. But then there are also lottery teams investing all their resources in rebuilding. We put ourselves at a disadvantage if we only partly invest in rebuilding while they fully invest in it. We'd be better off rebuilding fully. I'm hoping that's what Phil will do.

Thats why I'm like whats the plan. There is nothing wrong with going young and building for the future but don't then sign old guys to make a run with Melo. In fact you could make a real good argument for trading Melo as soon as its shown he's healthy again.

+1 though waiting to trade him is a gamble since we don't know how good he'll be. I'd explore trades right now.
Holders his like a little kid who keeps asking what's for dinner, what time will we get there, or what next! Plans change and things become fluid. If melo can return value in some form maybe we'll go the route of rebuilding with a longer time frame. It's obvious what happened last year. We all want to win now! Even towns will need time!

That actually makes some sense. Wait for 2016/2017 and if it looks like the kid is the future move Melo like the GSW moved Monta. Cause right now Melo should be the PF and Zing is a PF so that is going to be a development issue in a season or two once Melo really starts to slow down

Every player on the roster play 2 positions.....this is not Philly with three post players.
