Thank you. That's all I was saying too. We know he's not as developed as Marc is now.
Also, Marc had a better feel for the game and could handle slightly better. He too came in at 22 y/o the same age GH will be when he comes over next year.

I think he's got way more actual skill than Za Za. Yeah he's physical but he's not just a big lug. He actually has come skills.

Hernangomez’s buyout is too hefty so he will stay one more season. Porzingis said they communicate often and was excited to hear of the selection.

I would readjust my expectations for him if he really works on his body and the maturation process kicks in, and if he is a good learner.
He already does the P&R stuff, but he has a back to the basket game, too.
He might actually be our unofficial "#1" pick next year, if he stays in Spain and improves, and is able to get immediate minutes next year when he does come over.
I think Phil was thinking a lot about his friendship with KP, but maybe I overlooked Hernangomez' potential.
M. Gasol has carved out a nice career with skills, brains and average athletic ability. He might be the model for Willie to emulate.
Anthony called KP a "steal," and many of us have said the same about Grant, but maybe Hernangomez eventually becomes the steal from this draft.

Doesn't that contradict your position against drafting the Zingatron? According to most draft boards he was top 5, what then is your issue against him?

There’s no real surprise here. That said, multiple NBA scouts who have spoken with TheKnicksBlog.com and SNY.tv have said that if Hernangomez were guaranteed to come over this coming season, there’s no doubt he would have been a first round pick.
Now this was something I had not heard before.
So you might make a case that we had 3 #1s, this year, or that when he comes over next year, with more strength and experience, it will as if we are getting a 20-30 1st.

Hes not a scorer like him but he moves around the court like luis scola. Hes doesnt play above the rim but hes affective. Typical backup center you would see on the 90s bulls. Phil was a roll player himself so he knows how to fill the bench with reliable talent. Plus he gives KP a buddy to lean on while in ny. Phik loves those win....win picks.
And for the record i said this b4....picking 4th might be a blessing in disguise. KP has the potential to be more impactful to his team overall in multiple categories than the guys picked ahead of him.

The Knicks purchased the Sixers’ 35th pick for cash and their 2020 and 2021 picks. Shea called him a “blue-collar’’ player who will become a “solid rotation player in two years’’ and thought San Antonio would snap him up late in the first round. Hernangomez practiced with the Spanish national team last summer with Jose Calderon.
