Knicks · still think Melo/Isiah/Dolan/CAA are running the show? (page 1)

fishmike @ 6/26/2015 12:30 PM
Pretty sure taking KP with the lottery pick puts the squash on that one no?

Still think Phil is gone and this is money grab?

Sure does look like he's got both short term and long term goals doesnt it?

Frank Isola is posting stuff that Melo was not happy about how the draft went down. He apparently called THjr to let him know. We should've just let Melo go and done a full rebuild.

But I am glad Phil is not letting Melo the GM make decisions. That was definitely one of my worries.

I don't think anyone would take Melo at this point

maybe atlanta ... they seem to be in the dumb mode

Melo can suck it

He chose to come back here for the money

Take the money, get on the court and leave your thoughts to yourself

This isn't your franchise anymore

TPercy @ 6/26/2015 12:37 PM
Well Melo better suck it up, if Grant and KP pan out to be the stars they're supposed to be, I'm sure they wont think twice about getting rid of him and his contract if he dosen't buy in to the culture change.
GustavBahler @ 6/26/2015 12:39 PM
Melo didnt do himself any favors when he said that the team didnt need a 19 year old PG, referring to Russell. Showed that he wasnt looking past next season. If I were Phil, at that point I would have left Melo out of the loop. If Melo didnt want to look beyond the next season or two, he shouldnt of signed a 5 year deal.

right.

Knicks say to melo, check ... your move

crzymdups @ 6/26/2015 12:45 PM
I like Melo, but he's always been misguided about how teams get built around him. Would he have taken the "hair cut" Lebron/Wade/Bosh did in Miami for four years?

The Knicks can still put some good FA around him, while trying to develop a younger team and a style of play.

Melo can either buy in or ask out. I could Houston or maybe the Lakers being interested if Melo were to waive his no trade. Maybe Atlanta? Maybe Chicago still? He'll have to prove he's healthy first.

I think Melo will give it one more season and then ask out next summer if he's not happy. Or he'll get jumpy and try to move this trade deadline.

Kobe did the same in 2007, I think? Got jumpy and wanted to out of LA - wanted a trade to Chicago because it was taking Phil and the Lakers too long to build a squad around him. Then the Lakers got the Gasol trade and made three straight Finals, winning two. Maybe the development of Porzingis + the FA in 2015 and 2016 can be the equivalent.

Regardless, miles to go before we can get to that point. If Melo didn't realize this was the course, he didn't have his eyes open.

They don't have the contracts to send back, Who would they give us Milasap sign and trade?

I like the position we have put Melo in. He's got to be a good soldier or be the guy who knows more than Phil Jackson. If he's grumpy he can goto Phil and find a way to the Lakers or whereever.

If Melo doesnt like it go out and recruit Marc Gasol and Dragic to split our FA money. Otherwise cork it

I would do this deal in a freaking heartbeat. We are garenteed 45 win team if that happens.
Grant
Shved
Dunleavey
Milsap
Porzingis.

Teams would still take Melo, he was an All star last year and still has a few more years of high production left. The real question is would Melo waive his no trade clause to go to those teams? Hell honestly if he asked to be traded it might be a blessing in disguise. The knicks would get a pretty damn good haul for him.

don't think they would get that much for him. If they would, they would dump him in a heart beat (though Dolan will not allow it because how much money he makes for MSG, but if he starts/continues to stink, dolan would dump him in a ny second)

I am tired of Melo. He is by far the most selfish player in NBA history. The funny thing is that his selfishness always come back to make things harder on himself. We should only trade him if we get back a good amount of assets. Its time for the Knicks to be selfish.

furthest thing from the truth. Melo is a run of the mill typical american athlete. There are exceptions, but Melo is the norm.
Nalod @ 6/26/2015 1:11 PM
Anything in return is better than the zero we'd get if we let him walk.

Love over melo? Cleveland could sign and trade Love for Melo? We can have a new guy to hate on!!!

Want to play in Miami? Do a package that includes Dragic. What Can LA do? Bulls take Melo and send us Butler?

100% spot on...extra incentive for Melo to help attract some free agents. Phil has said anyway that he didn't expect rookies to contribute significantly in year one so he has at least been consistent (and he said this when we had a chance at Towns/OK4.
