Knicks · Isola says melo hated draft pick and trade (page 2)

blkexec @ 6/26/2015 1:19 PM
Melo is setting up his back door strategy, so he can exit without looking like he just wanted his money.

But the reality is he just wanted his money and the privilege of living in NYC. Now that he got both, he's developing an exit strategy.

Just watch what happens when we go on a losing streak....The Melo trading rumors will begin!

s3231 @ 6/26/2015 1:20 PM
Isola is usually pretty spot and still has great sources (despite his relationship with Knicks/MSG) on so there isn't much reason not to believe this report...

He actually praised the KP pick and likes it for Knicks.

BRIGGS @ 6/26/2015 1:20 PM
I hope melo reads this so he can understand that the knick fan is a knick fan not a melo fan if he acts like this this is outrageous and self centered just like the trade that got him here or his actions while on the team
Vmart @ 6/26/2015 1:21 PM
Just his way to chopping the prospects at the knees so they don't think they are the man. Melo is easily influenced probably talking to Steven A at the moment.

We have to do what is best for the franchise, I honestly do not think it was Phil Jackson's plan to resign him but a request that Dolan made
However, Phil Jackson also NEEDED ABSOLUTE POWER TO DO ANYTHING FOR the 5 years he signed, so even with a NO TRADE CLAUSE, CA could demand a trade now, especially if we continue to go FULL REBUILD and are unable to lure FA's over

With the recent comments Phil Jackson made about shoe deals, chasing money/contracts, caring less about playing winning basketball/HERO BALL, and creating a brand supports it
It SURELY WAS A LOW BLOW to CA and even if he owns a NO TRADE CLAUSE, PHIL JACKSON OWNS HIM, as CA only as a couple years left before he will likely decline much prior to the end of his contract
CA also has a 15% trade kicker

Then we must use our cap space for rentals to acquire assets and building pieces moving forward

I DO NOT CARE WHAT CA THINKS because we were in the mess because OF HIM
He could have just threatened to sign with NYK NO MATTER WHAT and DENVER would have had to take whatever deal we presented that would have allowed us to have salary flexiblity, along with more assets to build around him

But he was so concerned about his image because Lebron was painted as a villian when he left for Miami, and CA cares more about MONEY, his CONTRACT YEARS SO HE CAN GET THAT EXTRA YEAR JUST TO OPT OUT, HIS NUMBERS, and HIS BRAND more than winning

TPercy @ 6/26/2015 1:25 PM
Phil needs to sit down with Melo to have a talk. He needs to give it to him plain and simple:Either buy into what we are doing and become a consistent team player or take your TI face ass and his ugly ass shoe brand and gtfo of NY. I have full confidence that KP and Grant can do big things without Melo.
DrAlphaeus @ 6/26/2015 1:25 PM
Waiting for Melo to make a public statement to distance himself from Isola's reporting. I mean, that's what comes next, right?

He's sad to see THJ go, he gets to feel that way.

And what I hope is his reaction — if it even is anywhere close to what was reported — will give way to acceptance and he'll take on responsibility to help all these new guys become part of the program.

But if he ends up being the problem child, he has the juice for a trade, have at it.

crzymdups @ 6/26/2015 1:30 PM
It's funny, judging by their play on the court, I didn't think Melo liked THjr - they were always snapping at each other and pointing fingers. Sigh.

If Melo isn't on board with the way they're building, I'm at the point of saying ship him out.

Fans should boo Melo. Little kids should cry that Melo is a knick.

Not kristaps.

We know that in one of Winslow's interviews he specifically commented that Anthony was the main man on the team, and he hoped to supply support.

believe me I'm 100% confident that melo is among us lol

LAst year Melo hated TH Jr and now they're buddy buddy. The year before that Shump hated Melo but yet they talked all playoffs. Tyson Chandler was also a Melo hater but yet tried to recruit him to Dallas

It's the media people. Why are you still falling for the same stuff?

SAS is the blowhard who is also stirring up trouble with all of this crap. Figures SAS bytch ass is involved. He has been on a tangent with complaining about this and he's has been in Melo's ear over the years causing trouble. I'm telling you this guy is bad news.

Carmelo Anthony feels “completely hoodwinked and betrayed by Phil Jackson’’ after the Knicks traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and selected European project Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth pick of the draft, according to a radio report by ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.
The report cited sources close to Anthony, who is currently in Las Vegas for his wife La La’s birthday.

“All they said was he’s furious, he’s livid, he feels completely hoodwinked and betrayed by Phil Jackson,’’ Smith said. “He feels like he was lied to and sold a bill of goods. He’s willing to concede he wanted his money, but he didn’t know it would be like this and this bad. He can’t believe the second season for Phil Jackson he has to look forward to being worse than last season was.”

This is about SAS and Isola. I'm betting SAS got on the phone with Melo and instigated this problem for his own purposes.

THJ & Melo didn't really get along. He may have called him and said sucks to see you go but Timmy had a low upside and Grant could be much better. Plus there was a report yesterday that Carmelo endorsed Kristaps to Phil after seeing his workout. This is so weird.

I thought he was gonna get out his rolodex and recruit and help Phil? Gotta do whats best for the franchise, not whats good for the Melo.

I'm telling you SAS had his hand in this. How would we even know what Melo was saying if not that SAS was talking to him about the draft and instigating trouble? Think about it. When does Melo use words like "hoodwinked"? That's SAS talking. He's not happy so he's trying to make problems. He's done this before. He's not a good guy.

This whole situation sucks. The Knicks can never have anything nice. I was actually pretty happy with our draft. Now this drama has to ruin everything. Our rookies will feel unwanted by our "leader". Free agents will not want to come to a team with all this drama going on. Melo's selfishness is constantly ruining things for the Knicks and himself. I am starting to hope we pull a Nuggets move and trade Melo for a ton of assets. This draft proved to me we can trust Phil with a full rebuild.
