Minus the restricted wade and butler ... I'd rather have Shved then a Danny green or any of the other urfa's at 2 guard ... He's perfect for the triangle he can play both guard position and has great ball iq I'd like to see him set up kp, melo, grant instead of lance, and Lou... What I love is we have his bird rights so we can fill up the rest of our needs and go over the cap to sign him...
I love a back court of
Grant
Shved
Or a speed ball team of
Grant
Galloway
Shved
Melo
Kp
Shved gives us the most flexibility and he already has time under his belt with fisher to me signing Shved is a no brainier
to be honest...id start him at PG. even though ill have night mares about his awful defense. but i like his passing skills and instincts. regardless we need to resign him and start him at PG or SG

Yes I agree it's great having a back court of high iq great court vision combo guards at 6'5 and 6'7 where they can switch between pg and 2 guard

I very much liked what I saw of Alexy last year but he didnt cut it at his other NBA stops because he didnt shoot well from any range and he is a poor defender. He has a clue how to play but last years small sample may have been an outlier and the larger samples elsewhere which were mediocre may be what we more likely get from him if we retain. Having made that disclaimer, like to see him return but only if the price is low

I believe his min cost is $2.8m - read that in an article.
I think we have to renounce his rights though to free up cap space - he has a $6m hold. No idea how that works.
But, Alexy is a great guy - smart. But brittle. Dude was wiped out on that play that he pump faked a defender into the air. Can't find a video.
Some guys just all get hurt playing a game. You can't go into this season depending on Shved as anything more than a 9th or 10th option. He is still a giant question mark.
Shved is a perfect fit for this system. He didn't really get much of a shot at his other stops but Phil went out of his way to bring Shved in here based on his talent and fit for the system. Phil has given his scouts clear guidelines for what he wants and needs in players and they go by those guidelines and present to him players that have the needed skills and talent. I knew about Shved's fit and wasn't really surprised he looked better in our system.
The need at guard in the Triangle is good size, BB IQ, Passing, Driving ability and shooting. Basically a tall Combo guard who is comfortable attacking the basket but also passing and playing a 2 man game. They don't have to be pure PG's and you really don't want a ball dominant PG. He should be able to be effective even if he doesn't have the ball all the time. When he gets the ball you want quick decisions and not pounding the ball for long periods.
The only player I no longer want to see in the starting backcourt is Calderon. Shved is just fine, we just need to add a defensive minded guard next to him and Carmelo. The addition of Carol might help remedy their defensive weaknesses
shved has not earned vet minimum money or played well enough to be considered a role player. 16 games does not make the player.

I like and sincerely want to believe everything that you said because Alexey showed well in SIXTEEN games but I also recall him having a good short term run in Minny when Rubio went down only to return to bench warmer because he fizzled out. Career 40% fg /30% 3pt shooting really doesnt cut it when you play mediocre defender and $2.8 mil isnt chump change for someone who may sit most of game. Wish he were making vets min so I wouldnt be so hesitatant about his return.
I have a feeling Shved is not coming back. Just a weird hunch.
I'd like him back, but I don't see it.
I read somewhere that Shved wants to go back to europe.

He made $3.2 last year and his qualifing offer was $4 which Knicks didnt make . Unless he accepts a much lower price, I think we have seen the last of Alexey
Figure he's going to ask for at least $5-$6M/per. I could see a 2-year deal with a team option for the 2nd year. Don't think he would accept. If not, may as well look at Ledo in the Summer League - he would cost less than $1M.
I think Phil is looking at Shved as more of a sixth man off the bench. Let him come off the bench and do his thing against the 2nd team. We're going to need scoring off the bench and I think he's a good option.

And how are those stats bad?? So he averaged 20 PPG/ 5 APG and 5 RPG per 36 minutes.
He should def be either our starting point until Grant is ready or automatically our Second point guard.Galloway is definitely an off guard especially with his defensive abilities.
It is either Danny Green or him starting. No other 2 guards I would consider.
Shved is well worth his QA for one more year to see if he's worth a long term contract.then killing cap space on guys like Danny green or AA... Now if jimmy butler became a option then I'd be singing a different tone about how Shved is a great role player off the bench
if he comes back it would be less than the qualifying offer
that is why these Jeremy Lin rumors are coming out now to let Shved know they will not overpay for his services
He played his best in a short span under this system and little teams can give him that same opportunity to compete for a STARTING JOB and play a major role
