Knicks · Three Way Trade with Lakers & Kings? (page 1)

Hi everyone, I'm new here and this is a trade I came up with because I think Melo is more valuable to the Knicks in a trade than he is on the floor. Since the Lakers are looking to get Cousins and said they are willing to give up Russell for him, what do you all think of this trade? Would you be happy if the Knicks did it?

Knicks Get:
D'Angelo Russell
Nick Young
Either Jeremy Lin or Jordan Hill

Lakers Get:
Demarcus Cousins
Andre Miller

Kings Get:
Carmelo Anthony
Langston Galloway
Ryan Kelly (Cap purposes)

Melo might appreciate George Karl as a coach more now that he has sucked with the Knicks for several seasons straight. He'd get to play with Rudy Gay and Collison, with Cauley-Stein down low...all in beautiful California. Knicks would end up with quality with Nick Young and a possible future superstar in Russell. They'd also have even more available cap to bring in free agents this season, and then chase Durant next season.

Welcome aboard!!! It's a great effort to try and come up with a trade but I see no way Melo is OK with going to Sacramento which is basketball SIBERIA. Super small market and nothing town. No way Melo would allow this.

What would people think if Anthony really loved Karl?

Thought I read at some point that Karl might be inclined to trade for Lawson and give up their pick because there was pressure to win now...

yet he also wanted Cousins, out.

Sacramento seems to do the worst in this trade. Lakers keep Randle and already have a nice PG who they like. Phil gets his triangle guard, and now has two good you guards in his backcourt.

Sacramento would probably want Grant instead of Galloway, I would think.

Sac is not beautiful California. Its Sacremento. State Capital.
Its not Los Angelous, Miami or NYC. Melo is not a basketball player, he is a global brand.
THree way blockbuster deals are not easy.

Lakers can sign a center but if they do that trade, they take on a lot more salary moving Russell's rookie contract and taking on Cousins. What they need to do is move contracts out to sign a center AND take on melo.

Thus you have for example Aldridge, BroPez or Marc Gasol AND Melo come via trade you might have a very strong team. You want Melo and COusins with Kobe and Randle and that can't happen.

I really meant to say he is more of a brand and his star shines brighter than his on court effetiveness!
Don't want to hate on him cuz I don't. He is who he is and I was ok with signing him. I do think he is tradable and thus an asset.

I don't expect him to be anymore than he has but if the team has more able and willing triangle players around him I am hopeful the sum is greater than the parts.
