I agree, but you have to realize there is about a 10% chance of this. I'm starting to think he might be the best chance of the really big fish though.

He's played 7 years. His max is the same as Melo's: 35% of the team's cap. That would be around $23.5 mil. I do believe multiple teams will offer him that.

truthfully id rather have jordan on a max instead of melo but i agree we have no chance

It's not that high. The five year max the Clippers could offer him totals $103.5M. So that sounds more like an $18M starting salary, maybe $19M. There are 7.5% raises built into each season of that $103.5M number, so the starting salary would be under $20M in year one.

Knicks best bet is to offer him a one and one - he can opt out next year and get a huge raise from the Knicks with Bird raises.
