Brian Shaw messed him up. It happens. 29yr old guys who shoot 43% from 3 bounce back
Also I think Monroe thinking of Milwaukee is a smoke screen to up our price ... Stay strong Phil
great contract for a guy like afflalo. definitely didn't want him at 12m/yr but 2yr/16m is a steal - great job by phil.

Afflalo made 53% of his open 3's last year. Afflalo’s 2 best years from 3 were his 2 years in Denver with Melo. i think this will work out well.
Phil Jax has not made any homerun moves, but he has made some very solid moves to date. This Afflalo signing is a very good move. He gives us a legitimate SG with 3pt ability and a decent defense. Huge upgrade over Tim Hardarway, Jr. and probably even Shumbert.
I would like us to go after Kosta Koufos more than Monroe, if we could get Koufos for $6-$8 million a year. That would allow the team to go after another decent player. However, if we got Monroe and Afflalo, that would be a decent FA haul that should get us into the playoffs next year. A playoff appearance will: (1) avoid us giving Toronto a lottery pick; and (2) make the team appear more attractive to FAs in the summer of 2016, when Durant might become available. So far, good job Phil.
Can we still afford LMA or D Jordan? We have to stretch Calderon?
I can live with this, especially with what we saw on Wednesday, my lord
Gotta give Phil mad props for this one. In a league where guys like James Jones and Eddie House have their moments in the postseason Affalo is a steal. He will win us some playoff games. Same way JR won games for Cleveland. If lebron needs help in the playoffs you can bet Melo does too

Even a Max Monroe would give the knicks money to go after another decent player for the 5 - 8 range depending on if Monroe gives phil the little rebate he asked for and if the cap goes up.

They have enough for them and some left over, how much depends on the cap. It could be 2m more than the earlier projections

Afflalo plays defense so i can't compare him to JR.
We still have LMA money and fur sure Monroe. Im going to guess with Monroe its not just about the money. I can't imagine Phil not giving it.
We are not in the meetings or on the calls with the agents and Mills so its silly to keep blaming phil for "asking".
Conceptually the guy is not giveng up money, it'd "deferred". If he wants his cheddar now, he'll state it.

I think his ppp on post ups is very high for a guard so that and his 3pt shooting falls in line with the triangle.
Also, most reports that mentioned afflalo also mentioned Monroe so there's that
Best shooter(counting heavy minute guys) this team has seen since H20

Should not even be a question. With the deals these bums are getting Monroe at $15mil is a bargain. We need size and girth inside. Monroe is perfect. Phil better fly out to wherever Monroe is right. Is and get it done
Did not seem to help the Detroit defense or record? And he was paired up with their real big man in Drummond. Hope Phil doesn't overpay. Good pock up but not a max player.
Affalo was 18-4-3 46% just two years ago. Those numbers would be a 5 year 70mm$ player.
Afflalo a great pick up. And at that price, if true, a bargain.
A pleasant surprise - he's gone badly down hill but 2 years and $16mil is good- leaves us about $20mil to max out Jordan (very unlikely) or Monroe at $16mil and still have some money left.
Not terrible. Im glad its a 2 year deal and under 10 million per.

You like a guy and think he fits what you are trying to do you got out and get him even if you slightly overpay in this market. $12mil is not that much more for all the vitriol he endured here the past 2 days from guys like you and fish
