Brutal for 2 of the last 3 years. It's a gamble that he can return to 2013-14 #s and take some scoring pressure off of Melo I guess. This was probably around Plan E. I think it's adequate. Maybe a C. It might just be the fan in me being generous though.

Sure if plans A & B was netting Jimmy Butler & DCarroll

I may have been giving Phil too much credit when I said plan E. But I could come up with several combinations of other players that Phil met with that I certainly hope using cap space on was a higher priority than Afflalo.

You're one of those people that wouldn't be happy no matter what we did. You'll find the bad in whatever move we make. We got a starting SG that plays both ends of the court for 8 million a year with just a two year contract with a player option on the 2nd. That's a good contract on a good player so be at least a little happy.

No way. Mreinman has listed plenty of players he was interested in and has given specific details. He also started an optimistic thread about Porzingis. You're just way off here.

uh ... uh-kay.

I am happy regardless of what the knicks do.

I look at every player with an open mind.

Btw, I loved the draft so go home.

Brian Shaw. And it was the last 2yrs not 3. 3yrs ago he averaged 18pts on 46% FG AND 43% 3pt FG. He was the best player on that Denver team even when Gallo was healthy

So he is Allan Houston? Honest question. Haven't really seen him play much.

No he's nothing like A.Houston.

his career WS48 is .087. That is not good at all.

His assist numbers are probably the culprit.

He doesn't need assists here. He just needs to move them ball. Same way he did under George Karl. Clyde and Billups weren't big assist guys. He was Denver's go to guy after Melo left. Now he just needs to move the ball and hit his fair share of wide open shots hopefully from the PG as well as Melo, Monroe & KP

He is better than JR but You can stomach JR when he is your 3 or 4th option not 1st or 2nd

Ummmmmmmmm no i'll stay right here and i'll call it as i see it. If you loved the draft then that's great but this is a good signing that you're trying to make out to be a bad signing.

.087 is a little below average. Assists may be part of it but his turnovers are low too. So I'm not sure. Per 36 min, he averages 2.5 assists and 1.6 turnovers. His steals are like record-breaking low for an SG (0.6 per 36 min) and his blocks (0.3 per 36) are a bit lower than I'd like.

Exactly. He is much better. Tired of hearing how athletic Smith is based off a few hot shooting streaks amid his generally crappy play. Knew he would screw the Cavs. This is a major upgrade from Smith, Hardaway and Shumpert and at a great price. Jackson is looking smarter day by day. I give this sign a big A.

I love this deal... we look like the only sane team out there right now. I will love the deal a lot less if this is the only deal but it's a step in the right direction

The overall reaction from the usually negative media has been positive. Honest opinion rather than taking pot shots at Phil and the Knicks is a breath of fresh air. The funny thing is all the late articles still talking about the Knicks possibly being shut out.

The Grizzlies got the best bargain by far yesterday with Wright for 3 yrs, 18 mil - very solid player locked into a cheap contract for 3 years.

If Phil can continue to add solid players I would expect his WS48 to go back up this year. This should be a much improved team with more solid players filling up the rotation. Afflalo should have a good role in this offense if he can make the shots and drives that our other SG's from last year missed.

He is more mobile than H20. H20's FG% dropped when he became the go to guy.

As a matter of fact Affalo is a better shooter than H20 if you look at their career FG%
Affalo 46%
H20 42%

H20 was better from 3
H20 42%
Affalo 39% which is still very good

Amazing signing by Uncle Phil.
For those still Knocking Affalo and wishing we had Green & Matthews...good thing you aren't making these critical decisions. But I get it. That's what fans do. They never make the time to look at the whole picture. Of course it gets worse outside of this forum with Knick fans. Just listen to the people killing KP and every move on the radio

I really wish there was a way that us fans can put some of these New York Media guys on full blast for all to see. Like they can just tweet what they want and everyone knows about what they tweet or say but if a fan tweets it doesn't get out there like i wish it could. I would love to expose guys like Isola and SAS for what they really are and how their negativity is a big reason why the bigger name free agents second guess coming to the Knicks or just don't even give us a chance at all.

Low assists totals because George Karl & Phil's systems are built on the guards moving them ball and not pounding the ball and racking up assists. That's Marbury stuff

The fact he can defend is a huge bonus. There is nothing not to like about this signing. At $8mil it is a steal with HUGE upside and very low risk

Oh damn I guess you can cross him off my list.

Now think about this Bonn? Yes that is a great Bargain for Wright but is he winning you multiple games and taking the pressure off Melo with his ability to carry you offensively when Melo is struggling or being double-triple teamed? It's all relative. $8mil for Affalo is just as much a bargain

fishmike @ 7/2/2015 10:49 AM
Im not a fan of this player very much but this is nice buy low value. I know he was very solid with Melo and he defends very well so there is little to no downside here. We dont have much veteran stability there. I like Jose to bounce back but this is a nice balancing move. Having another defender on the perimeter makes signing Monroe a better fit as well. Hopefully Affie can get back to where he was. With the cap exploding hopefully we can capitalize on a few guys like this really getting motivated to play at a high level while we continue to build up the pipeline...

This is a good move. This player will help. Very little downside, plenty of up
