Carmelo Anthony has not had success as a starter??????..Two years ago when he wasn't hurt, he put up 27 pts and 8 boards pr game for an entire season...Last time it was done was Shaq Oneal...Please stop the stupid talk, you and Triple are embarrassing yourselves...You aren't taken seriously..

he has been a loser come playoff time. sixth men can give the illusion of being starting-caliber during the jayvee season when the competition is below average half the time and when the defense is more slack.

by contrast he has been easily made inefficient/ineffective in the playoffs on offense, and his defense has always been below the standards necessary in a starting-caliber player. therefore he is always exposed as a liability in the playoffs, and mostly sooner than later.

as you yourself shared, there is a perception that carmelo anthiny is SOFT. there is a measure of truth to that.

teams that win have at least three-two way players in their lineup. can't do it with fewer than that. hence the knicks have failed with him here.

ergo carmelo anthiny has not had... and will not have... success as a starter on a title contender.

Well I think there is zero truth to that..I just thought it was a good article to post to show that Carmelo is a polarizing figure and draws a reaction far and near to even those who aren't following the sport..Melo is a tough person in my opinion..They blamed him for MDA's exit and he said "I'll take the blame, put it on my shoulders" then went out and carried the team to an 18-6 record after..That's not soft...Especially in NY..I have seen many sports where players/coaches/GMs come here and folded like a cheap suit..Not Melo..

never mind about that, the crux of my point, oh feeble-minded captain of misdirection, is writ large.

It's a team game..You aren't going to win without the pieces around you...I wanted to see what he would look like with the pieces the LeBron, KD and Chris Paul have around them..U can't argue it's the same or it doesn't matter..It does...We keep having this convo over and over and over...

that's because you are an idiot and a fetishist.. he has been grossly compensated for what he has cost the team not just once but twice!!!!

in 2010 he could not wait for free agency.
in 2014 he just had to be courted, could have had more success for less money elsewhere, chose to take the money aaaaannnd...lost.
in 2015 jackson drafted and traded for a future BEYOND melo. "melo you got your money, now be a soldier and stay-- or be a bitch and leave. either way this is part of the culture change"

Man we're not the Sixers! Phil isn't doing a traditional rebuild where you lose for years. He's gonna look to acquire some young talent along the way and also from our own picks no matter where they are in the draft. Phil's not looking to be in the lottery again anytime soon. Not if he can help it.

Not sure what you are referring to..You are humorous..Phil isn't..The current path is no direction..At this pace we won't be able to draft talent running a .500 team out there and will always be maxed out so we can't attract FA to compete..We did that during Layden..It's particular frustrating because the plan changes every 4 years..Phil might be here for another 2 years..Phil is talking about the Mills handoff already..I think it will be a new starphuck..Then the new chap will introduce his vision..it's boring at this point..

You guys TOTALLY missed the point of what I wrote even tho I clearly stated it. What I was saying is that we're not doing a traditional rebuild and going to tank year after year. This wasn't a comment on the status of their team vs ours.

With regard to the subject of the Sixers vs. the Knicks, I think it's great that they're GM is stockpiling players and picks. There's nothing wrong with that in and of itself. I do wonder when they're going to actually build a team tho. It will be interesting to see how things develop for both teams over the years.

Without question. If Phil Jackson had made that same trade with Sacramento, or even one not quite as good, I'd be singing his praises right now. I'd much rather have a Sacramento 1st plus the rights to swap in two more drafts instead of Afflalo and Robin Lopez.

Ledo is a d-league scrub who shouldn't make the team. Early is a bust. Thanasis and Gomez are second rounders, meaning they have a minuscule chance of being impact players.

Get a grip. We have one of the worst situations in the league regarding having young talent. Probably the worst situation out of any non-contender. And no pick next year.

You didn't even watch Ledo play last season I bet... He is clearly a talented player or you are just being stupid. I think with proper guidance he could easily be a steal.

Early is a bust? Seriously? He dosen't shine instantly in his first season then he is a bust.

Thanasis could easily be an impact player. He is a nice defender and penetrator who already knows the system.

Gomez is being stashed(I think) but he went at 32 in a really deep draft. He is a good low post scorer, solid rebounder, and has good passing skills(from what I hear). He will have time to harness develop his talent overseas.

Then we have Grant and KP..Do I need to say anything here?

Right now you are the one who really needs to get a grip. You are just displaying sheer ignorance about players because of their draft position and the situations they came from rather than actually knowing something about the player. I'm not saying we have the best young talent in the NBA,that would be highly absured, but I think we have an OKAY to above average group of young players right now. What is most important right now is that we get more decent locker room guys like Scola, Perkins, Amundson, maybe even Caron Butler to help our young ones progress.

Why do supposed Knick fans hate on their own players so much? Especially rookies and prospects we're tryin to develop! It's just stupid to be so negative even before the players have had a chance to be developed. The Knicks have prospects they must suck! Ridiculous. How about we allow some time for our prospects to be coached and see how they turn out?

Why? For real? Where are all the stars that the Knicks have developed been hiding all these years? LOL Knicks fans don't "hate" young players it's just that we are like beaten dogs at this point watching player after player either flame out or flourish elsewhere. It's pretty easy to figure out why this is a trend among the fan base. It's living history bro.

I know now you'll rebutt my point by saying how Phil and Fish fart rosewater and crap ice cream and rainbows and how now it's gonna be different from now on. Well, until Knicks fans see the Zinger as an all star and guys like Galloway and Early putting in solid minutes year after year we will in all likelihood continue to perceive the team as one that just cannot develop young talent.

See I don't carry past history over into a completely different regime! What does Phil and his way of doing things have to do with past ways of doing things? I think we need to at least give his regime more than one season to see how they are able to develop prospects. It's been just one year so far. Not enough time to really gauge anything. All we know is these kids do have talent. We hope that some will develop into real players for us.

now you are just being silly nixluva. First off you are extremely wrong. 99 percent of fans probably love young prospects. The jerian grant move was universally praised, most people loved the cleanthony early drafting, and even though KP had some detractors which i understand the majority are excited. So just because fans dont think like you doesnt mean they are negative.

That is what happened in the past. You really could not have more inept management then what the Knicks have had for the past 15 years. One thing Phil has is autonomy. No wild future destroying trades happened at the deadline so the Knicks could chase the 8th seed. The 4 pick wasn't moved for a compromised vet to 'win now'. It is hard not to expect business as usual but if you look at what has happened things have changed.

You think I was wrong for commenting about Knick fans who say stuff like this? Phil literally just finished his 1 full season and all his prospects have barely had a chance to be developed. IMO this is a strange take for a Knicks fan to have and shows a lack of perspective. The Knicks are not one of the "worst situations in the league having young talent."

Where is the sense of perspective when it comes to this team? Phil didn't even have a pick in his 1st draft. He had one pick going into this draft. Still he's come out with all these prospects when he originally only had the one pick in the last 2 years. Phil has massively increased the number of young prospects this team has.

calm down gramps. My issue is you keep calling out fans for being too negative which is bullshit. Let me tell you something EVERYBODY here loves the knicks and want them to win. Just because they dont love every move doesnt mean they are less of a fan. In fairness ledo probably wont do much thats not bashing him just being honest. I love early but i understand why some are a bit frustrated with him. Injuries hurt him last year but i think he will be fine.
