then carmelo anthiny should not have forced his way here in the first place. the hypocrisy you and crushalot are exhibiting is laughable.
no point in talking about this issue as this is the bed carmelo anthiny has made for himself. he could have waited for free agency in 2011 and gone anywhere he wanted, even if it meant being a half-season rental someplace other than new york.
again in 2014 he could have gone anywhere he wanted but decided to stay here to make the most money possible and to continue to <snort> "build his brand," a-hole that he is.
but please go ahead and bitch about taxes in nyc, nys and irs as a viable pretext for the usual misdirection.
or instead you could actually face facts: it isn't the tax issue that is keeping free agents from coming to the knicks, it's the fact that melo is a criminally overpaid one-way player with no leadership skill, who is impossible to build a winner around or even with. he's on the wrong side of thirty, has shoulder and knee issues, and a dinosaur game of volume shooting and isolation play.
i have told you for months on end that no free agent of any stature-- lopez and afflalo?!?-- is coming here to play with carmelo anthiny and now it has come to fruition.

given your username there is no point in attempting a rational discussion with you until you take melo's jock out of your mouth. you can read what he himself said until then: "“From a basketball standpoint it probably would’ve been maybe the greatest thing to do, but for me personally I wouldn’t have felt right with myself,” Anthony said, “knowing that I wanted to come here, I kind of forced my way here to New York and I have some unfinished business to take care of.”
unbelievably, he claims that he wants to remain in new york to take care of unfinished business instead of go elsewhere to a winning situation, all while getting a supermax deal with a no trade clause and a 17 million dollar trade kicker.
when has this idiot ever put the knicks first?
Ah you got me. The "old jock in my mouth" quote" this from a genius that concludes Redmen is a Syracuse reference. Forced meaning he held a gun to NY or instead demanded to get out of Mile high? Have you been there? Supermax? Yeah shame on him to be one of the elite players who worked all their lives to get to a level to garnish a max. I am sure your giving back some money at Dominos so the manager can hire another delivery guy. The nerve, while every other player in the league is rejecting max offers.
Please tell me how he should put the knicks first? Sign with the Bulls? Take 15M a year and watch guys like Lopez play next to him for 13.5? Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you...
I think if he was willing to do a 1 and 1 and take less this year, with another 1 and 1, I DO NOT CARE if GAVE HIM A MAX 5year deal even after his injury, *just keep in check how much money he would be taking "less than" and pay it back to him, as he is unlikely to earn the type of contract that he would be making AFTER this contract *even if it was a discount the past 2 seasons*
Had he does so, I do believe we would be able to sign these TOP TIER FA's with him taking the charge of taking less to form a TRIO of STAR's with his years FA class, with LA/DeNdre Jordan or Greg Monroe, possibly Wesley Matthews or at least Aminu, and the FULL MLE to utilize, for Wesley Johnson, for most of it....
On top of that, though NOT THE MAX (with the cap getting higher) we would be able to give back CA ALL THE MONEY that missed out on with a 5year deal with higher raises, and would be in position next year to either sign and BE LEGIT NBA contenders by next season
Whiteside or Pau Gasol and another solid all round player like Wilson Chandler/Gallo/Battum
or even
Durant
For NYK's, it is very hard to build around CA but NOT impossible, and with Phil Jackson and Dolan's words, I do think that he would have done it, as we have done favors for JR Smith and his brother as promised
However, many other teams can use CA with ALL STAR talents that could contend with him like Houston/CLeveland/Chicago Bulls, and a few other teams, including Twolves/Sun's (that he may not want to go to)
Even Philly could do so if they can sign a couple MAX FA's with over 50 draft picks the next 5 seasons at their disposal, especially if they have CA, Durant, WHiteside, and another MAX FA, that they have the ability to do, with the ability to trade 10 draft picks for 1 player and still have PLENTY of other draft picks and cost efficient talents with bird rights for their future to use in trades or drafts to continue to get better
However, DK and TripleThreat both take CA's HATE to another level, and make too many posts about CA and NOT the Knick's
Which can be rather annoying for some, even when the post has nothing to do with CA or a topic close to it like the future of Knicks
RonRon wrote:I do not think CA's is building block for the first piece to build around, especially at that price, we were best to trade him when his value was still high

all the money he is making and you are talking about a hindsight situation where the knicks would have more money to throw at free agents. that is not living in reality.
moreover all you are saying is that you see what i see and have thrown in some woulda coulda shoulda money contact scenarios. reality remains that no free agent of any stature is coming here until melo is gone.
you simply don't detest carmelo as much as me... that's a personal choice and subjective. on all other points you essentially agree with me.

Defense.
and thats why i fully expect him to ask to be traded by all star break. lol
Papabear Says
then you will have nothing. All you will do is say this person is coming hear or that person is coming here and the never do. Stop saying it's Melo's fault.

Wish you would post something new and fresh. This is boring.
FAgency for the best players is about going to a team that allows them the biggest chance to win a championship.
Melo getting hurt last season is happenstance....
For example, look at the teams also with deep pockets this season and loads of draft picks, but no wins to show for it...who have they signed?
timberwolves? 76ers? celtics?
it is because of Melo that we even got what we did get... not inspite of him.

What if our young players actually look good and show some promise for the future? This is a younger less star studded version of that 54 win team. It's very possible that they could make the playoffs next year. It seems that any success this team has could change the entire calculus going forward.
Jesus Christ. We'll probably closer to 24 wins than 54 wins this season. Get a grip!
