and replace with who?

A more seasoned coach like Mark Jackson

Most NBA coaches wont step in to replace another coach after the season has started. If Fisher were fired during the season (which I seriously doubt) he would most likely be replaced by an asst. Take your pick.

I don't want the dude to be fired; I just want him to improve as a coach. He showed me nothing last season. He allowed Carmelo to play like a pure arse; which in my opinion was the wrong approach. He should have used Carmelo as an example which would have garnered him a lot more respect amongst the other dudes. He needs to be more critical of the mistakes; specifically, on defense regardless of who is the culprit. Don't just bash Early for a mistake while taking it easy on Carmelo.

It's really hard to judge a coach's interpersonal skills with his players from glimpses of moments on the bench. A coach spends far more time with his players outside of games. We don't get to see those interactions. What I will say is that after the trade his team never gave up on him and they played hard. The team did improve and Fish employed different tactics as the year went on. The team looked well coached in terms of their execution after the trade. You could see that a large part of the problem was the players we got rid of. I don't think Fish is a problem at all for this team.

Phil has several triangle coaches sitting next to Fisher. Bury the man, keep the plan.

Who got fired because he was supposedly an ssshole with players and f/o despite a winning record. No thanks, glad we missed him. Coah K had a losing record in first three years at Duke and they were calling for his head. How'd that work out? Many were also questioning Jax's first choice for coach Kerr who would have lost here as well. He had the talent and won big. Fischer will be just fine

Great post. Also there calls for Jason Kidd to be fired in his 1st year too. A lack of patience is just par for the course in NY. Makes no sense to get too harsh with Fish given the issues last year. Once the trade was made things really got clearer. You could see his impact as a coach minus negative influences and bad fits.
People focus so much on the record but fail to notice the team actually did play better after the trade and even with Melo out of the picture. 5-35 before the trade and 12-30 after and most of that without Melo.

Fish has a better group now and hopefully they can get off to a far better start than last year. I don't expect that he'll have the same poor attitudes and resistance he had to start last year. Gotta hope there won't be any health issues as well.
