Knicks · Summer league game 2 vs Lakers tonight @ 8:30 (page 1)

NYY1NYK2 @ 7/13/2015 9:13 AM
1) I'm looking forward to playing thru Porzingis, missed alot of opportunities last game to get him the ball in key spots
2) I wanna see the lithuanian center
3) we saw what early did in the first game, wanna see what ledo can do 20+ mins
meloshouldgo @ 7/13/2015 9:23 AM
I want to see more of the ball going to KP and N'dour
crzymdups @ 7/13/2015 9:54 AM
Pretty interested to see how Galloway and Grant go up against Clarkson and Russell.

It'd be nice to see Porzingis get some good looks, too.

NYY1NYK2 @ 7/13/2015 10:16 AM
If grant gets the best of russell, should we be excited that we got a steal at number 19? or brush it off as summer league play
nixluva @ 7/13/2015 10:45 AM
Lakers have some tough bigs in their SL team. Randle and Tarik Black aren't tall but they're strong and tough. It's going to be very interesting to see how our guards match up defensively.

It's certainly not the final indicator, but it'll be something we can feel good about.

Remember people used to argue Deron was better than CP3.

BRIGGS @ 7/13/2015 11:58 AM
I want to see the guards make a more determined effort to get KP the ball INSIDE after they penetrate. And KP no 30 ft 3's just stick to the basics from 12 feet and in--grab rebounds and take high% shots
PhilinLA @ 7/13/2015 12:12 PM
I want to see KP light it up from all over.

Brush it off. Grant four years older and Russell is just adjusting to pace of league avg 6 turnovers a game. Id be impressed if Grantwas blowing by a athletic Muldiay or Rozier in a matchup of rook pgs
CrushAlot @ 7/13/2015 12:29 PM
Hoping the Lithuanian gets to play extended minutes.

Tell that to Dirk Nowitski.

Why do you want to limit KP to 10-12 feet in right out of the gate?

Phil I'd like to see kp start off with good habits. Taking smart high % shots like an Anthony Davis would be in his and the teams best interests. I know he got fouled on the 3 he took but it was a bad 3. Stay near the basket concentrate on getting rebounds putting himself in great position to score well.

I just want him to take good shots within the flow of the offense.

One of his longer shots was fine, the 3 he got fouled on was an ill-advised/low % shot, and I'm sure he was spoken to about it.

If you start him at center, I would think you'd want to see what he can do in the post, and maybe on some midrange pick and pops.

So we should tell a 19yr old 3pt shooter not to shoot 3's?

I'm glad you're not on the knicks coaching staff.

KP will do exactly what you saw the first game. He's not beating people off the dribble like KD. So that pull up jumper will be his go to move. Otherwise, we should've over paid for Smith....He's a big that only shoots within the range you would like.

KP has unlimited range, which means he will shoot whenever and where ever he's open. Phil didn't draft him to hesitate on his jumper or to get 10 or more assist. He's an offensive threat that will help balance out the double teams on Melo.

What he needs to do is run off of picks or some of those down screens and shoot. But mix it up and do exactly what he did in game 1.

I'm looking to see if Grant has a better game. He was clearly nervous in the first game. I'm sure Harvey Grant was in his ear telling him to play his game. With the triangle, you have to be patient. It takes time to get comfortable.

Bombs away KP. Kid is going to be a stretch 4 who will also torture 3 covers down low. Mavs never put restrictions on Dirk. Thought his long 3 pt shot was spot, think he could use a little more arc.

No I want our 7-3 pivot to take good high quality shots. I don't need to say anything I guàrantee our coaching staff will remind him what a god shot is and where a 7-3 guy should be taking his shots from. His play is mid range face up to post. Anything farther than 12-14 feet should be in transition set or broken play. Otherwise I think kp can shoot 53-57% inside of 12 feet.

BRIGGS @ 7/13/2015 2:18 PM
I think some people are reading kp the wrong way. Look at his movements he is much more a pau Gasol than nowitski. And what exactly would be wrong with having a 19 year old pau Gasol who can occasionally shot a 3?

definitely see him as Pau with the outside shot/range of Dirk. i agree with your prior post - he needs to be fed the ball in the post tonight. when he gets position the guards needs to feed the ZINGER.

smackeddog @ 7/13/2015 2:44 PM
I want to see Early get his stuff together on defense- we are highly reliant on him this season as our back up 3. It was good to see him being more aggressive on offense though.

Hopefully Grant has a few of the jitters out of the way and looks a little sharper. Also we need one of our 2 C's to play (since neither of them did the first game)- we need a back up C for the roster now Cole has gone.

Sorry bud, but Bargnani signed with the Nets.

The player you're describing, we had ANOTHER one like that. Nice stroke from 12 feet and grabbed rebounds. He's not on the team either (Jason Smith). Fact is, and my point is, Carmelo hogs the elbows at the mid range, we need somebody that can spread the floor to the three point line, can shoot over anybody, and finish inside as well. Bargnani was actually a pretty decent shooter from mid-range, he was almost automatic when he came off of a screen at the free throw line, but we rarely ran that play because our superstar would rather camp out in the same area and hold the ball looking to make a move. If you want KP to do what you say you do, I'm afraid it will be a waste of time.

His flawless shot and range is what got him into the league, and you want him to just shoot mid-range shots and bang in the low post with his 19 year old spaghetti body, lol...ok. If you've watched him play, he shoots off screens and can comfortably spot up for threes, can put the ball down a few times for a pull up. He doesn't post up and bang down low to get shots, he isn't your typical 7 footer, he played point guard as a teen even though he was the tallest kid on his team. He's too skilled to be relegated to just hanging around in the paint.
