I don't see Melo sticking around a long time here with this new regime. I don't think he wants to rebuild.
He's got to show he's healthy. Maybe this year at mid-season or next summer once Washington realizes Durant isn't coming (I think he'll stay in OKC, but who knows), we can trade Melo to them?
Washington will have tons of cap room and a good selection of nice young players to maybe offer - Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre, etc
Melo could sell it as going home to his community in Baltimore (remember he was down there for the protests) and he'd have a legit chance to beat Lebron playing alongside Wall and Beal.
Not something that would happen any time soon - but over the next year, I could see this developing as an option.
and what are we getting in return for melo?
It would be wall or beal...and some picks
NEXT!

they aren't getting wall or beal back for Melo, man.
I'd take Porter, Oubre and two first round picks. And even that may be too high a price.

and there is not way that they would get Porter, Oubre and 2 firsts. C'mon.
The only team I see Melo approving a trade to are the Clippers..And in that case you are getting back pennies on the dollar..So if u want to move him, that's the cost..Contract fillers and some picks..
i like this idea more and more
Melo would be 'goin home' ...again.

Ohhhhhhhhh man where do you come up with this stuff?? You don't know his worth to other teams and don't don't what teams he would approve a trade to. Geesh

its a freakin message board. Besides Nixluva who knows what Phil is thinking, nobody "knows" anything.

So tell me where you think he would approve a trade to..
They have no pieces to offer...lmao..

I think Melo could be convinced to go "home" to Baltimore/DC area. He went to those protests in May.
Also, Melo, Wall, Beal, Gortat is the makings of a very good Eastern team. The Wiz did great in the playoffs when Paul Pierce was playing a stretch 4. If Melo fills that role for them and can give them like 20ppg, he could be very good for them.

Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre - I'd take those two and a first round pick. Or one of those two and two first round picks.
Washington will have $54M in cap room next off-season - the salaries don't need to be equal, they can just absorb him and send us some assets.

Melo's wife won't go to DC..Both have business interest in NY and LA...
Absolutely! While the media keys in on Chicago(won't overpay him and put up with lack of D and team all)& LA I always felt that Washington is the most realistic. He is from the area and the Wiz are the kind of team that would welcome a marquee player like Melo. They haven't been legitimate contenders for a lonnnng time. Melo, Wall, porter & that front line makes them instant 50win contenders.
Give me Beal, Nene & Ariza or Porter + their 1st rd pick and call it a day!

Agreed with everything but the part where Washington would trade Beal. They would never. Porter is debatable - I like him and that's who I'd target for Melo.
Washington doesn't even have any decent assets for a Melo trade......
Dont see Melo going anywhere. Phil preaches team ball but his O has always centered around a alpha male. Yes MJ and Kobe were much greater players than Melo ever will be but Melo is a prime scorer like that or not
