Knicks · Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony ‘trusts’ Phil Jackson — for now (page 1)
http://nypost.com/2015/07/15/damage-cont...
LAS VEGAS — Carmelo Anthony is good with Phil Jackson … for now.
Knicks officials have been in contact with Anthony in the last 24 hours and got a strong sense he has been bothered by rumors about his disillusionment with Jackson’s free-agent haul. Anthony made it clear he still “trusts Phil’’ and is trying to enjoy a vacation before ramping up his summer rehab training.
Of course, Anthony’s mood could change if the new Knicks embark on another miserable season resembling last season’s 17-65 disaster, but for now he is still believing and withholding judgment.
The Post reported back in December that Anthony was so depressed about losing, he told a confidant he would consider waiving his no-trade clause if Jackson came up with a deal to a contender.
After the season, Anthony confirmed, in December, he was “second-guessing’’ his decision to re-sign with the Knicks, but Jackson regained his trust during a dinner in London.
When asked by The Post Monday at the summer league if he has spoken to Anthony about his free-agent catches, highlighted by Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo, Jackson said he had not. That, along with Afflalo’s disclosure he hadn’t heard from Anthony, set off speculation Anthony must not be thrilled with the star-less cast Jackson has assembled.
Knicks general manager Steve Mills had debriefed Anthony on the free-agent scenarios and combinations they were trying to snare. Nevertheless, the $29 million did not snare an All-Star-caliber player such as centers DeAndre Jordan or Greg Monroe.
Can't wait to see Melo's Emoji tweet mid season ala Boogie Cousins:

The emboldened text in the article is our best case scenario with this malcontent...

Anthony made it clear he still “trusts Phil’’ and is trying to enjoy a vacation before ramping up his summer rehab training.Berman added the 'for now' and is just being provocative and creating more drama.
That youtube video just doesn't get old. I wonder if you could rewind a few weeks and show the garden fans those clips vs. OK4 if they would still be booing.
Watching KP he does so many things right. Like dropping his elbows to strengthen his core right before taking contact or how he protects the ball with his body or how he goes straight up and doesn't chase the ball...
Im really looking forward to watching this kid develop.

Holfresh, you gotta stop rooting for the jersey names and start rooting for the "jersey".
It took me a few years to separate myself from this thought process, and now I can see team sports clearly. I pretty invented the "Youtube Melo" thread! ![]()
Separate yourself from the player, and root for the team and I think you'll have a better go of it.
Phil was asked if Melo will have to do more as a scorer this year and he responded by saying no it's a team game...This is the article that resulted:
Phil Jackson and Carmelo Anthony haven't talked since free agency began, and team president isn't concerned if Knicks’ star is upset with latest moves
LAS VEGAS – Carmelo Anthony is a franchise player in name only. Phil Jackson revealed on Monday that he hasn’t spoken with the Knicks superstar since the start of free agency and added that he isn’t concerned if Anthony is upset over the direction of the club.
“Well, you know, we’re a team sport,” Jackson said. “When we’re putting a team together that’s our first priority; how do we make a team that works together? That’s the important aspect. How this all comes together is still a mystery for us. We’ve got five months to kinda get into it here.
“Obviously Carmelo is a guy that is a premier player, we understand that. But it’s a team game. And it has to fit together.”
It's time to sharpen up Knick fans, you are being played...

Thanks fishmike! Miss you guys...the losing got to me. Bad.
I would turn off games mid game, sometimes in the first half. I'm starting to root now, for the "jersey" and anyone who exemplifies or plays for the team.
Watching GS win the chip with "our" almost coach with their beautiful share the ball system and defend with fervor 1 through 15 is how I imagine good bball teams should play.
I think with the solid off season we had we should easily double our worst season (34-40 wins) and maybe nail a spot in the playoffs in the Leastern Conference.
Give KP and Grant a taste of the playoffs, and keep adding building blocks season to season.
Melo...ugh, his face repels me.

It's okay Holfresh, I admit I was a Melo groupie before. Posted dozens of Youtube videos on his behalf on this site alone.
I've seen the light...this guy is not a team player. Everything negative or derogatory said or quoted about him is true, and I accept that I was wrong for believing him to be something that he wasn't.
He's a poor man's Allen Iverson in a 6'8 puffy body. Ain't nothing wrong with that, both will probably enter the hall due to sheer buckets.
That said, at least AI was able to drag the Eric Snow/Aaron McKie/George Lynch/Mt. Mutombo sad sack of a team to the NBA Finals at least once in his career. No such case for Melo.
Root for the team, root for the rookies, root for the new additions like RoLo, O'Quinn, Afflalo who all want to play and win here. Don't root for the guy that openly trashed our draft pick and the trade of his fellow chucker THJR.

yep ... most of us have seen the light however we pray that this can change though we know that it probably won't.
I predict that by the end of next season, pretty much everyone will be ready to run Melo out of town while Holfresh will be holding on like sadams foreign minister when his house was being bombed.

If the team is good and guys are playing well you will get 54 win 3rd in MVP I'm happy Melo. You can debate his positives and negatives all you want. I don't care. One thing that cant be debated is when Melo has a good environment around him he's a fantastic ball player, and I don't remember anyone having an issue getting shots while playing with mr. ballhog 2 years ago. A lot of guys got paid having career years with Melo, Copeland, Novak and JR come to mind.
Melo is like any other asset. You need to create the environment for him, he's not a strong enough personality to do that himself. If Phil and Fisher can accomplish that people will be reminded just how good a player Melo is. If not he will probably get shipped out and we move on, but yea... holfresh is right. Believe this doodoo and your getting played.
