I bet moscow has no state tax
NYKBocker@ 7/15/2015 11:25 AM
that sucks
crzymdups@ 7/15/2015 11:25 AM
NBA outs included though.
That sucks to lose him. :(
fishmike@ 7/15/2015 11:27 AM
I can live with them passing on him over other options. I mean he's really had a bad NBA career minus 15 good games with the Knicks
smackeddog@ 7/15/2015 11:31 AM
Farewell- I was intrigued by him, but he did have as depressed an on court demeanour as Bargs. Still, he fitted well next to Galloway and he was probably the only Knick guard last year who could penetrate to the basket.

Simply tells you that Phil thinks he can do better with someone else and that $2.8M slot, or feels that Grant's progress will be slowed if Shved is around and getting playing time.
If you think Grant will gradually move into the starting lead guard position, why spend the most attractive amount you have to offer on a guy you are hoping will be on the bench by the end of the season?
I liked what he did for us last year, but you have to put things into perspective and look at the opportunity costs involved here.

I like Shved skills but good perspective on total picture from you as always. Think Calderon starts and could be shopped at deadline to contender if his game bounces back as I expect but.... Im not as sold on Grant being a capable starter now or even by then. Grant was a good pick, problably develop into a solid pg but his dribble looks vulnerable and his court vision, deliveries and abilty to draw and kick are just ok at this moment. Like to have another vet pg in place because Id prefer not to rush this kid and Galloway isnt a pg. No interest in troubled Lawson or another youngster but one of the low priced vets that tend to bounce around but do the job when called upon.

Really like Shved. I was hoping he'd be brought back. Jerian really lowered Shved's leverage in trying to get more money. We weren't as desperate for a Guard and that hurt Shved. There are some pretty promising young guards out there who could be brought in for less. Just watching Summer League shows that there are options.
Finestrg@ 7/15/2015 12:03 PM
Sad to see. Knicks only have themselves to thank for this. They didn't want to budge off the vet minimum and we had the money to offer more. So that's that. Go get Elliot Williams now. Sign that cat TODAY! Don't fuck that up too, Phil.
CrushAlot@ 7/15/2015 12:05 PM
I really liked Shved. He made it fun to watch the Knicks for awhile last year. His agent did mention in a tweet that things might be revisited next year.
NYY1NYK2@ 7/15/2015 12:06 PM
whos eliot williams?

Lol. Shved had that dour face but underneath it all was a competitor who gave us a spark at guard like no other on roster. He was entertaining and he produced not only in his small window here but also in Minny when Rubio went down. Bit dismayed that we gave a undeserved raise to Thomas and overpaid 2x for Williams with opt out to boot yet didnt keep Shved or Aldrich because of penny pinching. Understand the infatuation with Grant and Kirk but it's SL slop and the two departures are better NBA players right now imo and they werent much older than the kids. Oh well, hope Jax puts that room exception to good use

I called Schved going back to Russia the second he got to the Knicks
Was there any info as to how much he was asking or is getting in Moscow? I liked Schved but only to a certain price point...I guess.

I disagree with this. he really wasn't that bad with his other teams.
2012-13 he averaged---8.6 ppg---3.7 apg---2.3 rpg in 23 minutes. 2013-14 his minutes went down and he averaged---4 ppg--1.1 apg---1.3 rpg in just 10 minutes a game. Those two years were with Minnesota and then last year he played for Philly, Houston and Knicks and we know what he did with us. It seems to me that nobody really gave him a chance.

He didn't want to go back to Russia and he would of accepted our 2.8 room exception if we would of offered it to him but Phil and a couple other teams offered him the vet min which he turned down from all 3 teams. So he wants to play in the NBA but he wants what he's worth and i absolutely think he's worth that 2.8 for sure.
TheGame@ 7/15/2015 2:51 PM
With the addition of grant, we really had no minutes for him. We have four guards already who will get run. We can pick up a fifth guard on a vet min deal.
CrushAlot@ 7/16/2015 9:54 AM
Shved got 9 million for 3 years.
