Knicks · The reason why Phil got rid of JR was... (page 3)

So now the league knows that when dealing with Phil Jackson, it's not a private matter..It's a matter for public consumption..Should serve us well in free agency..Great..

Yet how easy is it to take these words and "repurpose" them into an Araton type article that annoyed you so much- not too hard at all.

If Jackson was annoyed at what Araton did he could have had his lawyers do something. Araton simply took the gist of what Jackson said and went creative with it. Nothing he said was not said in one way or another by Jackson...all he did was put everything together into words that Jackson might have said directly to Anthony, but chose to say obliquely to the press.

No big deal, but everything he said could have been confirmed by referencing them with Phil's own comments.

You made a connection to the Araton article from thishttp://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/132694...? I don't see it. No mind reading or making assumptions in Rosen's article.

Literary license??

Phil sat down with Rosen, and perhaps hangs out with him... big difference, but Araton knew his sources well.

Once again, all Araton did was take things Phil has said and made them into an "imaginary" talk given by Phil to Anthony.

This you tube video did the same kind of thing, in many cases taking their voices and putting them into a story which never happened, of course. Seemed quite clever and was very well done, but got its point across.

Great video and very clever. Not the same though as the Araton article in my opinion. Making fun of the entire situation is different than putting out there that this is what Phil is saying to Anthony. Especially by a guy that has been going after Anthony for a long time.

Just unbelievable..And while you are it Phil, why don't you destroy any semblance of trust the players have with the coaching staff and management..
WaltLongmire @ 7/20/2015 8:50 PM

Are we to assume that the agent has ties to one of the players mentioned after Begley called for a comment on the story?

Clean @ 7/20/2015 9:18 PM
I find it funny that the way the players were acting was not considered classless and making it public was. It is almost like the agent has a well known bias to one side.

Also, it sends a message that if you are going to the knicks there are expectations of professionalism. JR and his antics were part of why guys in the media ridiculed the Knicks.

Phil is not interested in pussies who afraid that the truth about them will come up.
He is not interested in players who have things about their work which they afraid to became public.
I am not interested in this kind of NBA players also. Even if they are supper-talented.
I want to be proud about my team. And I was rubbed of this for 16 years.
America was build and became great on truth and this country will going to go down in flames if we will succumb to politically correct lies.
About bbal or anything else for this mater.
Phil it The Man.

I think it is a bad move for a President of BBO to put this stuff out there. Yes they know he did it in the past but the past is the past and you don't need to remind people of how the new culture you are implementing is about sullying players name giving out inside info.

That could hurt trying to get some FAs.

Agreed...dont think putting players dirty laundry ou there for public consumption will endear him to potential FA's....Bad idea...

Whether or not you like JR, he still haven't signed yet with a team..Public airing of issues he had in NY could hurt him...

Actually I don't think anything Phil said could hurt him any more than what he's already done to himself. It's not like it's a secret what JR is about and there isn't some reputation he has that runs counter to the negative one we all know. If they think his talent can help and they're willing to put up with his up and down behavior then they'll bite. I think his inconsistency on and off the court is a problem. You can't depend on him. If he's just a guy you add for the times when he's hot, knowing he may not always produce and you can live with that then it's all good.

Naive. The guy is in a contract year, team is losing and he is not putting up numbers. Thats a lot of pressure for a young player to be looking at.

My take is they guy was "Me first". Its a business. At some point Phil knew he would not resign him and Shump got to the right team and got paid. He should be very grateful knicks put him in that positions. He said, he liked him.

Solid team does not need JRs period.
Team which need some clowns can get him on board to have some fun.
He is entertainer of sort... so is Shrimp.
Some fans like this over the bbal substance.

holfresh @ 7/20/2015 10:52 PM
What's the point of these articles put out by Phil and Rosen?..Hook up a friend and help him stay relavent?..And at what expense..Why risk future free agent signings because we can't keep in house issues in house..How does that help the NY Knicks?
Nalod @ 7/20/2015 10:59 PM
First off its no secret JR is a dumbshyt, and shump has a big mouth. The bottom line is did phil screw shump? Nope, he got 40 mil dollar contract!!!!!

Who has he screwed? JR? Dude broke so many promises way before phil got here.

This is a transition year. Show the triangle works, show the team has fun, and is building. Melo's rolodex was not working. he did not recruit anyone. Really, of the players involved and available this is not a team ready to complete.

jr is a post-season failure. imploding, exploding, disappearing.... it's the same doggy-fvkk year in year out. the odds as well as fate and karma are against him.

i think there needs to be more transparency and at the very least i think it's a great idea to screen for character. you don't seem to value content of character. at all. if i am right then please explain as i enjoy being educated.

The reason why he got rid of JR, because he planned on drafting this guy.

He has had multiple suspensions for behavior and partying. His troubles in the Chinese league during the lockout year are well chronicled. I don't think Phil shared any secrets that would effect JR's employment in the nba. JR is too talented and fills a need for the Cavs. His discretions will continue to be overlooked but he continues to cost himself money.

Great points. I think Jackson tried to do right by the guys he traded. Moving Prigs to the Rockets was a favor to Prigs. Thirty seven year old point guards that play right deserve a chance to compete. He also did right by Tyson.
