She isn't, but she's the first female player to get respect from both coaches and players alike.

First female coach to garner the respect of the best coach in the game. Game recognize game.

Pop has good taste. Would have been a bit better if the fist woman they picked was not also eye candy.

SMH as the kids say.

It would have been better to show respect to the talent of women by picking a woman who more obviously relied on her talent to achieve, versus someone who is conventionally good looking? What a backhanded compliment.

Ugh. The obsession on looks is part of the scaffolding in the glass ceiling, guys. Grow up.

men are men. Janet Reno can be a basketball guru, she ain't getting the job.

Men are men or pigs?

Well she got that top cop gig without a pageant sash, and she was pretty tall. Don't know if she knows the Triangle.

Four important points:

1. Let's not forget that Hammon played for Russia in the Olympics. Crybaby didn't get an invite to Team USA so she pulled a Rosenberg and went Red.

2. Let's not forget that Hammon finished 6-1 in Summer League and the one loss was to Fisher. (Well done, Fish.)

3. Hammon actually did do a fine job of coaching in the Summer League. Even women-hater Isiah was pointing out the effective things she was bringing to her team. The woman will one day be a head coach in NBA. And probably a very good one.

4. But we all know how this movie is going to end. She will become a household name, talked about on every news channel...for sleeping with one of her players.

Ouch - what incredible horse$#!T
Can't you just give her respect for what she has done, or is it compulsory to go on a witch hunt because she is female? You are perfect of example of how you can be computer literate without being just plain literate. The 1700s called and they want their own way of thinking back.

There's a pretty interesting movie by Rod Lurie called The Contender, which has an All Star cast, where the sitting President, Jeff Bridges, wants to bring in a woman, Joan Allen, for Vice President in his administration.

One of the interesting subplots wasn't Allen's character, but Bridges character. He wanted to be "known" for being the progressive President, and that enduring legacy, of bring a woman into the White House.

It was more about his ego, his standing, his view on his own name across history, than actually wanting to be progressive.

Unfortunately, Becky Hammond will be a pawn in a game of interests around the league and it's corporate sponsors to self fabricate a narrative to garner the most legacy inducing marketing power possible.

I won't deny the power of good coaching. A Rick Carlisle or a Chuck Daly or a John Wooden or Coach K, you can see there are rare individuals who can motivate and elevate a team greater than just a sum of it's parts, but most NBA coaches succeed on raw talent on their rosters.

Well I heard that she would have a better chance at that if she was a WNBA coach. I don't think she's playing on the team you think she is but that's just something I heard, if it's worth anything.

Uhh, I did. In my #3 comment about Hammon I said:

Interesting. Most interesting.

I just assumed she was playing on the status quo team. Maybe I should check the roster before I assign a player to a certain team.

Very good post. This is exactly the type of barrier minorities face. And Becky Hammond is a minority in the NBA. Couching your hate and or disrespect in politically correct terms doesn't make a person less hateful. It just makes them politically correct.

FireWoodson - I suggest you learn how to read yourself before asking others to do it. I asked you to"respect" her for what she did. All you did was acknowledge what she did. Acknowkedging her accomplishments and actually respecting the person are two different things. Read TPercy's post again in case you can't figure out the difference.

An acknowledgement of her accomplishment is also respecting her accomplishment. How you can separate the two is baffling. You acknowledge Michael Phelps winning 18 gold medals but do not respect his accomplishment in doing so? That's odd that you would separate the two.

When one acknowledges an accomplishment, one demonstrates respect of that accomplishment. I don't understand how you think otherwise.

Anyway I was wonder, If you had a choice between her a Fisher has the Knicks head coach, which would be your choice?

With her winning the summer league, she's getting high praises, and be up for a head coaching job next season.

DrAlphaeus @ 7/26/2015 7:28 PM
Regardless of the league she'd work in, or the "team" she's on, I trust she's a goddamn mature responsible adult and can keep from shitting where she eats.

So dumping on her for playing for the Ruskies: that's a fair criticism. But worrying about the locker room is just so typical and played out. Maybe I watch too much sci fi because seems like in the future the showers are co-ed. We've gone over this bull with the whole female reporters thing a decade or two ago, didn't we?

Wake me when we get to the future already.

No, dude. I know history. I have seen this movie before. If you mix the genders in sports...it leads to the bedroom. Do me a favor. Look up NASCAR's Ray Evernham. Top crew chief, brings in a woman driver to NASCAR, says she is a top driver, should be in the sport...sleeps with her. Look up Danica Patrick. Joins NASCAR, only woman driver...now sleeping with another driver. And you think Geno at UConn is just a coach to some of those girls...

I could give countless other examples. They all prove one thing: Becky Hammon will sleep with one of her players. Guaranteed.

and so what if she does? What about a Gay coach with one of his players? Think that ever happend?
Plus, why you got to even go there about Hammon, maybe she is happily married and can acutally just coach. Not every women got dick on her mind. So what if Danica is with another driver? whats the point? Think any two gay drivers every hooked up?

Why hate on Geno like that? What if he had an affair with a 35 year old women coach on his staff? Is he married, did he hurt anyone? Are there rules about dating co-workers? I can seek the line drawn very strictly about coach's never dating players or students in general.

Human nature will always give you examples of people not acting in accordance to rules written or not, but if Hammon can coach, and her players are mature enough to handle being coached by a women, then no big deal.

1. It will cause the NBA massive grief and embarrassment. You will have everyone from TMZ to Rush Limbaugh to Geraldo to Dan Rather talking about the NBA in a negative way. The league does not need that.

2. It will ruin the chances for another female coach to be hired in a male sport.

3. It will set women back decades. "Hey, look at the female coach. The only reason she is there was to get some d!ck. Ha, ha, ha." Great. Every female-hater will have a field day with this story. Women won't be able to get in the work force even as a secretary anymore.
