Knicks · I think this was mentioned yesterday but Sheridan is still in a snit (page 1)

Not over his twitter argument with Phil apparently. The guy trashed the Knicks draft and published his article so quickly he got it out before the Knicks traded for Grant and Hernangomez. Now his report card.
NEW YORK KNICKS: They won 17 games a season ago, and I can’t see them winning more than 22 next season. Two of Phil Jackson’s three trades (Pablo Prigioni for Alexey Shved and two second-round picks being the exception) were utterly disastrous, they could not even get a meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge, and they whiffed on Greg Monroe because the free agent forward sees brighter days ahead for the Bucks than for the Knicks. Of their four free agent signings, getting the lesser Lopez was probably the best. But he is far from a home run. Arron Afflalo will be gunning lots of shots in a quest for his next contract, which won’t make ‘Melo happy. Derrick Williams stinks. Kristaps Porzingis is a mystery. There are no draft picks next June. And Kevin Durant is not walking through that tunnel (oh, yeah, the tunnel at MSG is gone) in the fall of 2016. Grade: D.

Yup, he also wrote a ridiculously over the top article a few weeks ago. I don't mind media pieces criticising our moves, but when it's just motivated by personal animosity it's just lame.

whats wrong if he just feels that Melo is a dik or that Jax is smug?

How many articles destroy Kobe? Nobody here has a problem with that? I don't.

Why if you criticize moves it's because of personal animosity or an agenda??..Why can't it be just because you didn't like or think much of Phil's moves?

WOW... I mean it's almost a sport in itself to bash the Knicks but really this guy was going for the Gold. In the end i'm glad that there has been a nice change in attitude from some media who are taking a less biased look at what the Knicks have done. I've been defending what Phil is trying to do from the start because I could see what he wanted to do here even when he had the awful start to last year. Since then he went to Plan B as we call it and starting with the Draft Phil made decision based on doing the best he could for the franchise's future. Whether things work out as he plans is hard to say at this point but he certainly was making sound decisions starting with the trade and into this summer.

The roster is younger and more talented, with more upside. There is even some cap flexibility with how Phil has structured things. Phil gets bashed about the 2016 draft pick but he wasn't the one who gave that away and since he's come here he's looked to add picks when he can. I suspect that he'll do the same for next year. I disagree with Sheridan that the Knicks will be a bad team again. Of course he kind of jumped the gun with some of his statements. But he bashed Afflalo by insinuating that he's a low character guy that will basically be out for himself, even tho Phil gave Afflalo the power to opt out so why would he need to be selfish? Also Afflalo is going to get all the shots he could want on this roster. He's the 2nd option right now. If anything I think Afflalo is going to be looking to play his best and wants to win. That is how he can best up his value to the Knicks who would be able to offer him the most money.

I don't understand, what makes his disagreement with Phil, biased??

Funny, but he said a lot of negative stuff about Toronto- only seemed to like the Carroll pickup, and then gave them a B;

Then gave the Celtics and incomplete, after they picked up two decent/not great PFs- Lee and Amir Johnson, and a trade exception, while talking about things I'm pretty much sure they had in place before this offseason (all the extra picks). Completely overlooked their complete failure to move up in the draft, which was well documented.

Would not pay him much attention.

Look at the other article he wrote and tell me his personal animosity isn't motivating it. I know you're critical of Phil's moves, and that's fine, but with Sheridan it all stems from that Twitter spat he had with Phil a few months ago.

joec32033 @ 7/24/2015 5:20 PM
I stopped reading after he said 2 of the 3 trades were "utterly disasterous". Even though I disagree on the Tyson trade, I am open to the fact people could dislike it. The Smith/Shumpert trade was far from a disaster. The "main component" of that trade is still unsigned.

the rest is just factually incorrect.

Aldridge himself already stated that not meeting with the Knicks was because they wanted him to play center and both parties agreed to not meet. That is a far cry "not being able to secure a meeting". It was by choice.

The Monroe part also factually incorrect. It is already reported by other media (I can't remember the reporters but I heard it on Hahn and Humpty, and The Michael Kay Show, that Monroe wasn't offered a max deal. That is far from "whiffing on Greg Monroe because he saw brighter days ahead on the Bucks". It was a choice not to offer a guy who just months ago every media outlet was crying he wasn't worth a max contract a max contract. Now all of a sudden someone other than the Knicks sign the guy to a max contract and it is a brilliant signing, and the Knicks "whiffed" on him.

What a joke.

And Ignores that we traded Tim jr for Grant, and ignores the positive porzingis stories and just calls him 'a mystery'. Also ignores O'Quinn.

Phil don't give a flip what people say. He just went and executed his plan and his roster makes sense. It's not like he put together a bunch of guys that don't fit or have character issues. He went for hard working, team oriented guys with a history of playing D. The only questionable guy is DWill, but he does have potential to be better than he's shown and he's young. Sometimes you just play a hunch and go with your gut.
