first of all if he was a good coach he would be a head coach somewhere. but no, he is assisting doc rivers last i checked. second of all, just as there are jayvee regular season superstar players there are also jayvee regular season coaches.
woodson is a jayvee regular season coach. he has shown he can be easily outcoached in the varsity season and i am sure he won't get another head coaching gig-- he has been exposed. that's the reality. the first inkling of my grave doubts of his abilities was his not fully endorsing and embracing jeremy lin as a starter-- in the face of all common sense. but then again, when you have been forced to whore yourself in order to get a gig, you are working from a position of compromise. as you will recall, he was forced by dolan to fire his agent and sign up with caa. not only is he incompetent but he whored himself in order to get the knicks coaching gig. shame shame shame

your best and highest-paid player should be able to elevate his own game and make plays for others in the playoffs. take a look at melo's numbers that postseason-- they suck. absurdly high usage and low assist rate = making others worse. ts% around 50% = inefficient scoring. guess what melo you're paid to score why don't you EVER do it efficiently?!? 19 assists and 31 turnovers in 12 games .63 assists per game and 2.6 turnovers. when you get repeatedly exploited by having your weaknesses amplified it's an embarrassment. and gee i thought melo is supposed to be the best player in both series that year, but yeah ok chandler was outplayed by the dude who stuffed melo's shit.
The second best player on the Knicks in that series was probably Felton. Felton is the third string point guard on most teams. Woodson was trashed for not playing Cope more. Cope is the 9th guy in an 8 man rotation. Who on that team that was still able to go on the court could have their play elevated enough to win that series.let's see:

People of low character make up stuff to hang their hats on..Melo doesn't crouch on defense was a lie..Woodson not embracing Lin is another lie..Lin was out most of the 24 games Woodson coached..Lin didn't want to play in the playoffs because it might hurt his upcoming contract negotiations...Just imagine if Melo pulled that stunt..But Lin, a player of "high character" to many here, dodged the chance to play saying he was on 85 percent of the "minimum" required to play..Can't go to battle with people like that..Hornets are his 4th team since, ball don't lie..Yet JR gets ridiculed for playing with a blown out knee in the playoffs...

And what is your assessment based on?? It's certainly not based on wins?..Knick fans are so smart that they forget what really matters, wins..They were all caught up in the switching defense all year anf forgot that a coach was getting the best out of his players, actually winning games and getting past the first round..Phil comes in a sells you Fisher and a 17 win year and you are eating it up...Truly amazing..
