Phil and Melo have not talked in a while.
Phil perhaps did not sign players that Melo is happy with.
Melo did not show up to summer league.
Phil made some comments that perhaps can be taken as jabs.
KMart speaking out on Melo's behalf that Melo is not meant to go through a rebuild.
Phil signs 2 good guys in Lou and LT to perhaps even out the locker room vibe so that the young players can be in a non toxic environment.
I personally am certain that there is a chess match going on though some are certainly going to say that its all smoke and mirrors.
http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topi...yeah not really. There was so much crap going back and forth between posters so I made a poll (big freakin deal). Not much else to do in the dog days.
if you are so interested in my previous posts you will see that I care mostly about his selfish play and don't care much about the other stuff. I also don't really dislike him off the court.
JUST PASS THE MOTHER FREAKIN BALL YOU SELFISH PIG!
The Melo discussions here are closer to what people talk about on a Kim Kardashian fan forum. No reality, just a yank-a-thon. Ill pass.

That's basically it.
Can he average 5 assists a game this season? Can a zebra change his stripes?
Can he shoot 50% from the field? Can he play better defense instead of arguing with a ref on a no call?
"Most" people know the answer to these questions.
why is it important to he avg's 5 ast, there are starting pg's in the league that don't avg that.
The question you should ask yourself is, Do you want your best offensive player to pass up shots to players that cant shoot as well

Our guy is slightly above average at best, but still making $24 mill a year...but you'll take mediocre play as long as he's happy!

No. I would rather believe in what some interpret as hidden messages to Melo, writers that mind read, and unnamed sources quoted by unreliable media members. Does that seem like a smart way to gather information when you are attempting to attack a guys character?
Same guy that forced his way out of Denver and that he'd only be traded to the Nets or Knicks for a bazillion picks.
Same guy that traded winning for max dough even though he knew ahead of time that'd it be a rebuild with the cap situation.
Same guy that did this video with drug dealers and confessed to tossing his Olympic Bronze medal in a lake.

Same guy that sucker punched one of our Knicks and back pedalled like a coward

REAL Character!

I agree, everybody spins. At least this spin has a name attached to it. That at least puts it a step above unnamed sources in my book.
Does it matter at this point though? Let's go under the assumption Melo is spitting out bullshit -
Concern was over Melo pissed off over the Porzingis pick and the THJ trade. Both KP and Grant have worked out with Melo already. Relationship with new teammates does not seem to be an issue.
Concern was over a rift between Melo and Phil; Phil clearly has the power to make the moves he sees fit, not tailored to Melo's timetable. Meantime, Melo is at least playing the role of good soldier and speaking positive of the FO. If they agree to part ways, we want the positive projection out there come trade time.
Some people have their minds made up. Doesn't matter what anyone actually involved says on the matter. The narrative's already written up.
UltimateKnicks.com - Fair & Balanced.
Training camp can't come soon enough.
Where exactly did this year's draft day quote come from? I was out of the country and missed all that. If it didn't come out of melo's mouth directly and derived from the likes of Stephen A. Smith then his whole rift thing is a waste of time.
Melo usually doesn't start to dig his own grave with fans and media until training camp starts or at or around the allstar game. Or when a young knick emerges and Melo Inc. feels threatened. That's when he goes the Stephen A. Smith protect the brand/spin route.
gunsnewing wrote:There is always that short period of time during the draft when Melo feels he is the smartest executive in the room. Anyone remember Josh Selby? LOL Great name drop!
Josh Selby...he was supposed to be the chosen one picked at pick 17 to man point guard instead of Shumpert. He was Me7o's West B'More homeboy!!!
From wikipedia:
Controversy[edit]
After choosing to attend Kansas, a report came out stating that Selby had not yet been cleared to play by the NCAA.According to this report, the NCAA had been investigating for months the relationship between Selby and Robert "Bay" Frazier, the business manager for New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony. Selby had acknowledged a friendship with Anthony in past interviews and spoke of his contact with Frazier in an April story in The New York Times. All three are Baltimore natives. Maeshon Witherspoon, Selby's mother, told The Times that she had known Bay since elementary school and had asked him to serve the role of an adviser during his college recruitment.[9] The Times report said Witherspoon asked Frazier to host Selby's in-home visits with college coaches at his own home and that Frazier attended a KU-Missouri game at Allen Fieldhouse in January 2009.
On November 21, 2010, the NCAA made their final ruling on the matter, suspending Selby for nine games, and ordering him to pay $4,607.58, the total of the "improper benefits" received from Frazier, to the charity of his choice.
Of course none of the posters want to address Me7o greasing some college prospects, because it'll damage their loved one's rep. ![]()
P.S. - Selby is in like the Israeli league now. Great evaluator of talent GM Me7o is.

The way the fan base reacts to the media in NY is scary. Maybe instead of a Leadership 101 thread someone should start a Media 101 thread for the NYC Sports Fan.
Still waiting for links to Jeter going to winter ball to lead the farm hands. Come on Jetes it is just one day.
Parading himself to other teams during free agency. Teams that understand the concept of value. Teams that know exactly when a player is priced right or when to steer clear. All that that to feed melo's ego and further his personal brand as he wound up strong arming the Knicks, most likely Dolan, into paying him the max with a no trade Claus. Once again hurting our chances to add significant championship pieces buts that's probably by design as acquiring "black book" players who would turn this team into instant contenders would diminish his brand.
Fact of the matter is Melo has already proven to value his brand and money over winning. Winning requires that he buys into a team concept. All his actions have gone against the concept of buying in on and off the court. It is what it is. Unfortunately the Knicks chose to find out what Melo is about the hard way. Other than Melo the only other person who is enjoying his time here is Dolan. At the expense of disillusioned fans and fans who are dying to see a consistent winner again.
