A guy who would be good here on unit 2 who might be able to be our full time SG in 2 years is Evan Fourmier Hes got the size Phil likes at 6-7 he can shoot plays a very decent all around game
I think he would make much more sense than J Crawford and more attainable.
Finestrg@ 8/20/2015 6:35 AM
I like it -- He's not that explosive but still has good intangibles: he's young, good size (didn't realize he was that big), shoots a good clip from 3, and he can handle the ball and make plays.
How do we get him? Something built around Early? Lance Thomas/Early doesn't work -- Thomas would have to agree to the trade per Realgm's trade checker. He wouldn't--he's got a guaranteed spot here (why, I don't know); Orlando would waive him. Thanasis/Early doesn't work either -- TA can't be traded until September. Early/Galloway works -- I doubt Orlando would do that though. If I'm the Magic, I'd rather keep Fournier over anything the Knicks could give them.
After Shved, I really liked Elliot Williams a lot for us. He played great in the DL last yr, he finally looks healthy and I like his ability to play both guard spots...We worked him out in Vegas -- not sure why we didn't pull the trigger. Supposedly the contract he signed with Charlotte is only a training camp deal and isn't guaranteed. I believe they already had 15 players; he's their 16th. That's a situation I'd be monitoring closely although if Phil really wanted him, he could've had him already..

I just looked at their roster. Orlando had 3 shooting guards, Olidipo, Mario, and Fourmier. They have 3 point guards too in Elfriid, Shabazz and Watson...I would say that's pretty normal.
They could use a big man or possibly Cleananthony but the Knicks don't have a move to make because of salaries and trade restrictions.

in other words it's a pipe dream

I would think Willie Green would be more readily available

We can trade Seraphin for Fournier come December or Lance Thomas and Early for Fournier. Those are the only contract(s) that matches. I would probably do the latter but not sure about giving up on a big right away.
Knicks1969@ 8/20/2015 10:21 AM
Don't give up on Early yet folks. He has yet to play a full season.

If this was someone the knicks wanted and orlando was willing to part this wouldn't he have been included in the O'quinn trade? The knicks could have gave up their 2nd rd picks plus Early and Ledo to make the salaries match.
Heck they can still use Travis Wear and give him a multi yr deal with team options/non-guarantees to make the salary match. They just do not have anything Orlando wants that they are willing to give up.
technomaster@ 8/20/2015 11:44 AM
Well, if Afflalo comes into the season healthy and returns to form from a year or two ago, we'll have a player who could legitimately command starter minutes (32+mpg) at SG. He was one of those guys where I used to say, "why can't the Knicks get players like this" (he was a 27th overall draft pick in 2007). We've grabbed Shumpert who looked good for a stretches and Hardaway, but Afflalo has shown more consistency and a higher degree of excellence than either of our picks.
We also have Sasha... and Wesley Saunders. At some point, Orlando may find Fournier expendable. He's only 22. And also has the Denver connection. (apparently the Knicks have seriously coveted a lot of Nuggets players over the years!)

He has also yet to learn how to dribble, pass or understand the offense. Won't mention his D at this point.
technomaster@ 8/20/2015 3:27 PM
Not to go on a tangent, but would Jordan Clarkson have been a better draft pick than Early? Is he just a chicken on a bad Laker team or is he the next Nick Van Excel?
And do folks see him as being a better player or having more upside than Galloway?
Paris907@ 8/20/2015 3:43 PM
I guess LaLa won't wanna live in Orlando huh? I like Fournier. Young athletic and capable. Why would they want Early or Thomas or Thanasis or gallo or or or. I do see him having considerably more upside than Gallo and does anyone know If he plays D. How do we guard the other guards is part of the equation.

Almost any type of move we could make right now might need to be a 3 way deal. I have no idea what Orlando's plan is. Fourmier reminds me of a young Allan Houston so Id be willing to give up what was needed in that second tier Galloway Thansis Early etc.. Im not sure of the value he has to Orlando. Im also a willing seller of Willy G.
Hes got real nice size can put it on the floor and can really shoot it.
Paris907@ 8/20/2015 4:58 PM
SO willy g and Gallo or Thanasis or early for Fournier in effect makes sense to me as well. I think Jackson likes Willy G in part because he's tough and plays in the Spanish League but i see the upside to a Fournier. Not quite the shooter Beal is but improving

If you see upside in Fournier why wouldn't Orlando? Also, it would not be wise to trade the only defensive guard on the team especially one with a track record of being a high quality shooter.
Also, I imagine Phil Jackson thinks that Sasha V will give him much of everything Fournier would give the knicks.
What will be interesting is that Fournier is a RFA this year so unless someone puts him on the bench Fournier will likely stay in Orl for a few more years.
Paris907@ 8/20/2015 6:33 PM
They drafted Super Mario to play backup SG. Fournier will be sitting as a result. Orlando may think he's a fine ball player but he will be a wasted asset.

Fournier is entering the last year of his rookie deal. The time to trade for him was 2 years ago.
A young 3 and D wing, cost controlled, and given what the market shifted for 3 and D guys in recent free agency, makes him more valuable than ever to Orlando. Not saying they won't trade him, but likely it would be at the deadline and to some other team with more assets.

Sasha and Fournier are two different specimens. One has his whole career in front of him an athletic 6-7 210 from the 2 guard the other an NBA role player at 32 who might not do anything of value. Fournier could be our 2nd or 3 rd leading scorer right away and grow with the group. Im not as high on Willy G as we have commitments at c to essentially 3 players for 4 years.

ive been a fan of Fournier for a while. andi agree that orlando has alot of young assets.but why would they trade with the knicks? what assets do the knicks have to give? jose? lol, thanasis isnt an NBA player. lol
