am i the only one who still has faith in Cle Early? dude was a 2nd rd pick who showed typical ups and downs as a rookie. He wasn't expected to be a franchise player. I projected him as a role player who could help off the bench. In the summer league, dude showed tremendous athleticism. Listen, i dont think he'll ever be a star and the triangle is too much for him...but i do think he can contribute on team next yr

The small forward job this season is really up for grabs. The problem with Early is the Knicks have loaded up the front court and 2nd round picks don't really have a lot of controllable sway compared to 1st round picks. That's the double edged sword of that set of players that can come with no guaranteed money owed to them by design.

Sadly he looks like a Triangle casualty. When he's on the floor he doesn't look like he knows where to be, and even more troubling, why he should be there.

Early really needs to stay healthy and sadly he needs injuries in front of him to get a real shot at minutes.

Cle is a second round pick with a dubious situation whose contract is movable and thus Knicks, or any NBA team does not have the commitment as would a first rounder.
Plenty of guys have the talent but need to be in the right situation and that sometimes requires a bit of luck.
Faith is defined as "unsubstantiated belief", and thus if so the case with you is based on your "Hope" he can rise to the task and establish himself an NBA player. Gone are the "Chris smith" days, instead you have phil who has raised the bar. He has work to do this year.

I hope the kid succeeds. What I hope is not based on faith.

Early ceiling to me is Ariza. I think that is a very good thing. He just needs to work on his defense more.

Im a big cleanthony early fan. In fact early and jerian grant represent phils better moves as president. Im high on KP but hearing phil compare him to shawn bradley makes me nervous

I think there's a good chance for Early to show growth this year. He started to show us more of the active player we thought we drafted late last year. He worked on his body and seems stronger. This summer he also showed what he can bring to the table in terms of his athletic ability and he seems to be more aware on the floor.

Early still has more work to do, but he seems to be making progress. To me he looks more comfortable in the Triangle and if he stays active I think he can find a good role on this team.

agreed. Ariza was another kid i was high on which we got rid of and of course he became a solid player

Ariza appeared to be a better ball handler and much more athletic early on. However, Early is more advance offensively then Ariza ever was. I hope the kid succeed in NY. He is a New York product; thus, the Knicks need to look to develop this young man to become a contributor. I believe the presence of Afflalo as a floor leader will benefit our young dudes tremendously.

C Early played 4 in college and shouldve went through a 20 game period in the D league to kind of define position get extended PT work on his handle in game learn how to pass it. He still needs developmental time. No reason he cant get that PT in Westchester we only need 13 guys.

I'm rooting hard for him. He played in the same AAU program as one of my kids. I'll cut him slack on the triangle learning curve, but he certainly will need mins to develop, and they simply might not be available.

I hope he gets a shot to compete for a long term deal.

He looked WAY more comfortable with his handle and driving the ball on his man late in the season last year. I think he looked even more comfortable this summer. It's not like they didn't talk to him about what he needed to work on this summer. He got stronger and seems to me to be much more ready to contribute. He just has to stay focused on D and stay healthy.

Wow there really is a stark difference in his play in both flicks. In the 18 point game even though he was doing well it seemed like every time he got the ball he wasted a few seconds thinking about what to do. In the SL flick he's getting the ball and making quicker decisions IMO.

if he did play the 4 in college then this is just another example of a guy achieving tweener status once he reaches the nba by virtue of being too small for the nba 4 and not possessing the skills of an nba 3.

no wonder he doesn't look like an nba player out there.

in the second video it's more of the same, a lot of one on one or one on three, a nice pass to the open kp6, a travel on a rebound to an attempted fast break.

okay stroke... really kind of a taller version of jamal crawford-- no real sense of team play.

I seen zero comparison between Early and Ariza except that they play basketball(knicks).

He is certainly not a Point Forward that's for sure. However, it's still a learning process. In this system he will have to continue to learn how to look for his teammates and I believe he will. His shooting wasn't as good, but Early's assists improved over his Summer League from last year.

I have faith that he can be a decent rotational player for us. I have a feeling that Phil and Fisher and bring the best out of him defensively.The guy is hardworking and his handles showed much more improvement and his finishing has shown much more consistency. He just got drafted recently, so lets give him one more year to keep developing.

The kid had surgery during the season. It slowed his development. He clearly has talent and needs a chance to show it this year. If he stays healthy I like his chances. I'm so tired of the automatic hate on our own prospect after very little actual time in the league. Once he got his legs he looked much better. I like his potential for growth this year.
