Off Topic · OT: Are you Team Cap or Team Iron Man? Who you got and why? (page 2)
I guess all the people that played basketball as a toddler and are now in their thirties, forties, or up should just hang them up! And the end of the day it's just a game.
Stupid logic. Comics are just another form of storytelling.

LOL of insinuating that continuing to play sports as an adult to literary consumption of Comics vs. books. Comics were great because they used Pictures to tell a story.
"Stupid logic"?
Is Comic books considered Juvenile? Yes, to many adults they are! To literary snobs who have developed a great ability to write, or at least digest great writing they do look at comic books as simple cartoon.
The Marvel catalog in the digital age makes for fun action movies. They tell nice fantasy stories of good verses evil! Comics were great before the age of television and bought great visual to the superhero story.
It has its place.
Melo is a hero to some. Some of the avengers really needed each other to defeat a common enemy. Like some of the heroes in the comics.. Why has the Silver surfer not made top billing like Superman, Batman, Thor, etc?
You made a poll.

LOL, tell that to the movie studios making no less than 26 "Comic Book based" movies in the next 5 years.
For better or worse, this is the cinematic world we live in. Some of the best reviewed and great visual movies stem from comics. A History of Violence, 300, Sin City, Watchmen, Road to Perdition, V for Vendetta, The Dark Knight (Heath Ledger won an Oscar for Joker!!), Snowpiercer.
The juvenile comment is just plain ignorant and is common for people to "lump" for people out of your element like yourself, Nalod.
I dare any "juvenile" adult to put their 5 year old kid in front of the big screen to watch Sin City, Road to Perdition, A History of Violence, or Watchmen with big blue balls showing half the time.

Playing basketball as a toddler? Really Chuck? Shitting in the potty does not constitute playing ball, IMHO.
What else did you do as a toddler? Particle Physics? Triathalons?
Grow up; there, no insinuation at all. Comic books are named as such for a reason, Chuckie. Basketball is a professional sport; if you can't see the difference between that and what you managed as a toddler, then there truly is no hope for further conversation.
Net/net, basketball is a sport, not akin at all to Playskool toys, or mastering the intricacies of Candyland and Chutes and Ladders.
When you were a child, you reasoned as a child, you thought and acted like a child. When you are older, things change.
For some, apparently, they don't.
Equating intellectual maturity with whatever CGI crap Hollywood pumps out to make billions of dollars off the idiot masses (some of who are seriously considering voting for a bankrupt specialist, reality TV show personality for POTUS) is a blisteringly weak argument.
By the way, The Tick would kick everyone's azz in this lame poll.

Last year's 85 million print unit sales for the top 300 comic books was the highest number since 2007, and that does not count increasingly significant graphic novel and digital sales nor a growing number of sales beyond the top 300. Even though total unit sales remain lower than during peaks in the 1950s or early 1990s, according to Miller, the comic book business is booming.
Unit sales are down but obviously sales would increase cuz what sold for 5 cents now sells for $4 and up!
Comics, or graphic novels are good teaching tools for reluctant readers and help beginners with comprehension. Movie's based comic characters do very well historically. We have seen coutless movies made from characters including "Richie Rich", "Duck tales" "Dennis the menace" and others.
Heath Ledger won for supporting actor does not make the genre legit. Box office sales do. Melo won a scoring title.

Action movies have always done well at the movie box office.
WE talking about a medium that is written at a 3rd -5th grade reading level with pictures.
Children grow up reading comic books and to see them "come alive" on the big screen is a thrill.
WE had Superman TV show in the 1960's. It always did well. Each generation gets better technology so the reboots are profitable.
Comic book sales are doing well, but not like they were in the 1950s.
Twerk .Gif, I guess if you don't have the words you use what you can.
Chuck, Halloween is soon. You pumped up or what?

No need to retort to jrod. He don't know shyt.
A History of Violence, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and Road to Perdition are all movies not at a 3rd to 5th grade reading level. All derived from comics.

Comic books are written for elementary school reading level. Box office success does not make it great story.
Nobody said something has to be good to make lots of money.
I suppose you like to argue. Bottom line is you made a poll about avengers and who would pair up with who, not to whether the comics were a valid medium.
You got called out for it being a juvenile like post and you really did validate the point.
What about a poll of which pajamas are better?
This one?
"Vs"
Bedding?
window treatments?
Oral hygene?

Nah, not really. Comic books have changed throughout the decades. Its a little more than Archie dates Veronica. They dealt with issues such as rape, genocide, torture, etc. Not exactly themes for kids. The fact that pajamas and Halloween costumes are made from superhero merchandise, I do recall when I was little a Robocop and Rambo cartoon as well as merchandising. ARE those movies fit for kids? I refer to it as boys with their toys. I like comic books and I collected since college and do so with my son. Its a pastime with him. I do read novels but I do enjoy the stories from the comics. Its no different than an adult liking WWE, Star Wars/ Star Trek. Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, etc. It is entertainment. So I am guessing that none of you watched any of the comic book movies mentioned? If you don't like it, fine, but why come here to bust balls?
In the movies Stark's independence is something to appreciate, as he has to answer to no one. That said, he has to answer to no one, feels no real need to do so, has a tremendous ego, and has proven to make questionable decisions.
Cap'n seems to have a purer motivation, freedom. He is initially a soldier, so his motivation may be unduly influenced by military and political leaders of questionable morality. The type that are looking after their own best interests, settling out-dated conflicts, etc., but it seems in his issues with Stark in the last film, he's looking more at the big picture of the freedom concept. One gets the feeling he wouldn't blindly follow orders that he "knew" were wrong.
With that, I'd go with Cap.

Thanks jazz74! Obviously jrodmc and Nalod have no phucking clue what the phuck they're talking about.
Comics and comicbook based movies have come a long ways.
Forget the TV show, the comics are 10x more brutal!

Well said grillco! A lot of the same reasons I'm Team Cap as well.

Comics and comicbook based movies have come a long ways.
"are you team cap or team Iron man, who you got and Why?"
In fact, nobody really challenged the genre (comics), just the thread subject. We talking Avengers right? not the other more adult titles, so lets stick to the subject and its the Avengers.
Chuckbuck likes to deflect. we talking the impression of the title...........and we just having fun with it. Im not putting comics in trail here. Adult Avenger fanboy made a poll. Nalod thinks that's funny.
