Knicks · Tyson is 'leading' again (page 2)

I'm pretty sure Tyson did admit he sucked.Pretty sure Crush remembers the particulars, but I wouldnt have brought it up if Tyson had mentioned his own play more often.
"more often" cant be serious. Tyson admitted he played like trash against the Pacers. Doesnt matter when, he's quoted as doing it. What player admits they played bad every time? Find one quote where Melo admits he shot like shyt every playoff as a Knick? You wont.Tyson played like shit much too often after his DPOY year. He had no business pointing his fingers at anyone but himself. Good riddance.
Right...based on this logic, every previous Knick should be gone, because they all played like garbage after that season. Not everyone on that team was a max player, and a team captain. Standards should be higher. It wasnt just a few games, long stretches over several seasons.
Tyson wasnt a max player or a team captain of the Knicks. he took less to join us and only Amare and Melo were captains.
I see people recall what they want.....

Not about to post the article, I know everyone has read it, and he fully admits to getting his ass kicked. That last year he broke his leg in the first handful of games to start the season, and once he came back the season was basically lost. To be honest, I didnt see anything wrong with what Tyson said that year...he wanted to be more included in the offense since after all Woodson was the one who sent him to train with Hakeem which he did in NY. neither Tyson nor Amare were tasked with plays in game to use those new skills so Woodson should have been called out.

Tyson wasnt a max player or a team captain of the Knicks. he took less to join us and only Amare and Melo were captains.I got the captain part wrong, I should have just said "leader". As far as the max deal, I found several articles that referenced a max deal in 2011. Max, near max, still a big cap hit.
Thats odd, every article I read stated he took a deal from us that was less than Golden State offered, therefore he wasnt a max player. I dont know if :leader" is the right term either as he was referred to the previous year in Dallas before he signed with us as "missing piece".So perhaps your expectations vs what Tyson actually is may very well be the issue. he's a defensive minded role player...nothing more.
I wouldnt go that far. Tyson spoke about himself as one of the team leaders. When Phil questioned his leadership after he left NY, Tyson spoke of how he was offended that his leadership was questioned. He was more than a role player.
I spent most of the season following his DPOY year defending Tyson on this board because he had also played in the Olympics, and Chandler had to deal with a lot on his plate in a short span. After that I saw a player who was glad just to have won a ring, a gold medal, and a DPOY. Nothing wrong with that of course, but the next season I saw a player who talked more than he delivered.

Folks with agendas care, but you're right he isnt here anymore. I'll take a dude whining everyday and racking up double doubles over a nice guy who cant get 8 boards or play over 30 minutes.

Not at all. His comments were during the playoffs when his team was being dominated by his man. Taking responsibility 6 months after calling out your teammates doesn't change things.

It should when you're still harping on it years after both events happened. personally the fact is, Tyson admitted it. Hibbert actually is a better center, but Tyson shouldnt have been dominated like that, even though he was coming off an injury and was sick to which players on his team admitted he gets ill alot from being around his kids in-season. It makes sense now. What doesnt make sense is the feelings towards a player that the Knicks havent come close to replacing.

It's the "cant let go" syndrome. if Tyson was all things wrong with the Knicks then Dalembert should have corrected all of that.....lol. Maybe Lopez does, perhaps he can get 10 rebounds a game while not caring like Tyson did.

I posted a link to an article in the daily news from the following season when Tyson was criticizing Woodson in the media and going to mills trying to get Woodson fired. Seems like he might not be the guy to talk about playing for the coach or his teammates. Just my opinion.

Tyson said what everyone in the league said. Woodson switching defense was a joke. And obviously the team didnt adjust. ironically Tyson was one of Woodson supporters the year before....til he found out Woodson wasnt about his word. Tyson was miffed primarily about the gimmick offense. Woodson had Tyson and Amare train with Hakeem only for neither to used in the offense. idk, my superior send me to a class that I have to pay for and I dont get to use that training on my job I'd be pissed too.
Still, Woodson wasn't happy with Chandler voicing his concerns publicly."I talk about it. I don’t think it’s something you air in the paper," Woodson said of Chandler's pointed criticism, per the New York Post's Fred Kerber. "You got issues, you hold your coach and your teammates accountable and you air it out amongst yourself

tyson also has a ring so if he is publicly upbraiding a horrible coach then so be it. woodson was horrible.
We had some individuals playing well for long and not so long stretches.
But this does not mean sht... the team sucked year after year. Sometimes just mediocre but most of the time plain embarrassing.
A lot of players who came and go into this situation were unable to handle the losing culture, MSG bureaucratic hell, ever unsatisfied NY fans, and scandalous NY media.
One need the heart of stone and mind of philosopher to remain himself in this kind of settings.
So I do not have any problems with any of used to be Knicks... Let them be.
