We already signed this guy --- his name is D-Williams
I actually think there's more upside with DWill, at least offensively. DWill has shown some signs of life at times in his career. It wouldn't be that shocking if he found a role here this year. Bennett just seemed like a reach from day one and was never the prospect that DWill was.

They both seem like reaches. I'll be honest, I thought Bennett could makeep it. He still might. He looked solid playing for Canada over the summer. The key for both guys will be too simplify their games and forget the hype they came to the league with.

A #1 pick being brought out of his rookie contract, is this by choice? Because if it's not, that's crazy, that would make the cavs managment look like idiots, and minni to look even more foolish for agreeing to a trade that involved you best player.

It's easy to forget the way DWill looked in college and why there was some level of excitement about what he could do at the next level. Some guys just ball out in the College game and have a much harder time at the next level.
I the NBA I think DWill was ever properly developed. No one seemed to say to him what he was supposed to be and give him a role to focus his game. The talent is extremely evident but without a clear role you only get glimpses of what he could do.
Both Bennett and DWill are tweeners but I think DWill has a chance to find a good role here in a system that rewards players that can be effective without the ball. His best attributes are getting in transition and finishing, moving without the ball and finishing strong at the rim. His weaknesses in just about every other part of his game are an issue but that's gonna be on him to put the effort in on D and the Boards. He's got the Physical Tools to be more than he has been.
Bennett is barely 6-7 and tho he has long arms he's just not what the league is looking for at PF or SF. DWill has a similar issue in terms of his being heavy for a SF. DWill is closer to 6-9 250 which isn't so far off for a PF. I'd take DWill if choosing between the 2, but both have underperformed. I just see a path for DWill to actually find a role.

Bennet wanted the buyout...knew he would not get much court time...and they were not picking up his option next year. Smart move for him...needs to play some minutes so teams can see him...otherwise he'd be on the bench this year and on the street before FA, with nothing recent to show teams.

Any option that is better than or equal to Derrick Williams that we could have gotten for much cheaper.

Bennett is only 22. Hopefully he figures things out. He was a Mc Donalds All American which is like being a pitcher taken in the first round of the mlb draft.

Part of paying DWill that amount is trade value. If he's too cheap you can't really use him in trades worth a damn. He's not making that much. Basically he's being paid like a draft pick. $4.4 mil which is just a hair more than KP.

Who would want to trade for him if he continues to play like crap, which is how he has been playing ever since he has arrived into the NBA.
