three guards in the triangle? the triangle offense emanates from the post outwards and does best with big men who can pass the ball.

Im talking what I would do. I think this is more in line with how the NBA works right now.

That's not how the nba works right now. Golden state won with small ball so now everyone has to copy? When Boston won, miami followed and the rest of the league trotted to get their own big three.

I mean, when does it end? Phil won 11 championships with the triangle but no we have to go small because that's how the nba works now?

That's garbage. Basketball is a game and the best team wins. San Antonio win their way, golden state win their way, and you can go down the line.

We need to win our way not copy cat like some kids in grade school. Out strength was built inside. Phil is running the triangle, we have a ton of versatile bigs, we have outside shooting. That's how we will win. No we're not going to exclusively run 3 guards Melo and Rolo. Get over it.

The league us a copy cat league and the fans are drones. Everyone was crying when Dantoni was forcing players to run his style. "We need a coach to pay to his players strengths"... now we have decent players to run a versatile offense like the triangle and now we must run small ball because that's how the nba works?

Seriously gtfoh

And they are in the rotation in all likelihood. Seraphim. Williams, OQuinn, KP and Galloway. That simply won't work rotation wise. I'm all for a 3 guard rotation depending on who they are playing AND if you can pry Butler straight up for Melo. Then rotate Kris, Seraphin and Williams or OQuinn Strart up front

I believe you have to have the ability to play 3 and even 4 guards now. Id have taken Norman Powell over Willy G. With Lopez Seraphim Oquinn kp admundson we have more than enough. We reallycould've used Powell off the bench

I think Seraphin and probably Amundson are gone after this year. The knicks should be a lot better but I think they are looking at team building as a process and wanted Hermangomez for the future.

There will be a lot of changes next year. This team we'll be watching next year is still far from the finished product that Phil wants to put together.

I guess it really depends on whether Melo plays SF or PF. While the extra 5.7 points per 100 possessions is interesting, I am not sure that stat isolates all the variables. It is likely that Melo creates a speed mismatch at PF, but this roster is not the same as that roster. That said, there will be a lot of competition for starting time on this roster. I don't see anyone as firmly 'entrenched' and after accounting for injuries, playing time is completely up for grabs.

early in the season i imagine kris and melo won't be on the floor together that much, but if they do play together with lopez out there, it only makes sense for melo to slide over to the small forward position, especially if kris proves to be the better passer along the post and at the inner elbow than melo. playing in the triangle mitigates some of the potential conflict, but i believe the small forward ends up playing on the weak side a bit more and is also required to make off the ball cuts backdoor and what have you.

since melo's knees and shoulders are starting to wear out, it behooves him-- in this scenario-- to be as light and as quick as he can be, and work on his conditioning.

then again, those roles could be reversed, especially if it is true that phil acquired lopez in order to allow melo to play the power forward position, as some have interpreted that acquisition. in my opinion this makes no sense, since you need someone who is a good passer at the power forward position in the triangle.

i should think that lopez was acquired in the wake of kris being drafted as the ideal defensive partner for kris, since both have length and mobility.

since i believe the developmental arc of this team is not merely this season but actually stretches over two seasons, you want the frontline to be lopez, kris, melo. that will likely mean melo at the small forward, his creating of offensive mismatches notwithstanding.

You mean the team STANK last year!!! Kind of early to suggest the team stinks now. It's a nearly completely different roster now. IMO MUCH IMPROVED over last year. It seems that the SL u posted, which I agree with, has a chance to be pretty good. I like the talent n size in that lineup.

Comments....

- I want KP6 spending his time on court between Me7o and RoLo.
- there have been rumors of Knicks viewing AA as a 6th man which makes some sense
- not sold on Jose but he's got to be better than last year right
- not sure Knicks should be planning any type of big role for D-Williams

Really? I have never heard that.

I heard Wally and Hahn discussing this soon after AA was signed on Knicks Now.

They mentioned it more than once so I assumed they may have some inside knowledge.
