Knicks · Screamin A Smith has done lost his mind. Threatens to ruin KD (page 1)

NYKBocker @ 10/5/2015 1:03 PM
Wow. This guy is full of himself.

Someone call Vince McMahon ... because Stephen A. Smith just went on a WWE-style smacktalk rant directed at Kevin Durant ... in which he essentially threatens to dig up dirt that will DESTROY the NBA star!!

It's pretty crazy ... Smith went on ESPN's "First Take" to respond to comments made by Durant -- in which KD called BS on one of Smith's NBA reports about him. Durant essentially called Smith a liar and claimed neither he nor anyone in his inner circle has ever talked to Smith.

Smith clearly didn't take too kindly to the statement ... and UNLOADED this morning:

"I sit here today incredibly offended by the personal attack that this man has put against me," Smith said.

"What I would like to ask Kevin Durant and some of the brothers who talk behind my back in the NBA who probably put him up to something stupid like this ... Do you really want me to come out of this seat and go back on the scene? Do you really wanna see me in an NBA arena?"

"Because I can assure you I'll find out more in 10 minutes than I can get from 50 phone calls .... I have proven it."

"I am a black man on national television with a big mouth and I will still stand up today here and I'll put my resume spanning 22 years plus up against anyone in this industry."

"We really wanna go here? We really wanna start something with ME???? You sure about that??? I just want people to think about that."

Seems the gauntlet has essentially been laid down.

"I am a black man on national television with a big mouth and I will still stand up today here and I'll put my resume spanning 22 years plus up against anyone in this industry."

wondering why and how this is relevant in his "rant"

GustavBahler @ 10/5/2015 1:15 PM
Watched it, Smith really did go over the edge. The whole rant sounded like "do you know who I am?" Not the first time we've seen Smith blow his stack, but Ive never seen him sound like someone really did a number on him. I like Smith as a hoops commentator, and I get him wanting to defend himself, but that was too much.
Nalod @ 10/5/2015 1:23 PM
Both looking stupid. Durant took it too far as did SAS does making it such a big subject.
Skip is portraying himself as a victim. SAS is hurt, a victim. Awe.

SAS voice gets high at the end. Funny stuff.

blkexec @ 10/5/2015 1:33 PM
Durrant questioning SA smith is like SAS questioning Durrants basketball play and how steroids could be aomething he takes. Basically Durant is messing with SAS money because if hes not respected for his nba info, youre taking money off his plate. SAS didnt do anything different than what all media people do. I think Durant went over board because his words can be more damaging than what SAS said which was 1 of many rumors about Durant. The media always has the upper hand. SAS is the last media person i would tick off. His voice is too big and respected amongst the NBA.
ChuckBuck @ 10/5/2015 1:36 PM
Love KD dissing SAS, guy is a blowhard of the highest order. Always has his "sources" or "someone close to him" that knows the inside scoop. Hope more players black ball Stephen A the way it seems KD is doing here.
Knixkik @ 10/5/2015 1:43 PM
The fact that players actually respond to his reports show he is getting the respect most media types don't. I would be content with that if i were him, rather than looking foolish. I like him too.
holfresh @ 10/5/2015 1:44 PM
Durant has to be a bit more savvy with his dealings with the press..This is about SAS money and credibility...SAS just got a job on ESPN NFL football show because of his access...SAS went over the top and this type stuff isn't necessary...

But KD considering LA, with Westbrook to follow a year later, wow...That info could have come from anywhere..SAS hangs in NYC, Roc Nation are in NYC..Doesn't take much to spill the beans after a few drinks..Have to be some truth to it the way KD responded...
MaTT4281 @ 10/5/2015 1:53 PM
2 parts got me:

1) "Kevin Durant is in no position to be judging my credibility." Well, the story was about him and his thoughts, so I'd say he's qualified.
2) The ongoing rant over players' sensitivity to things said in the media. Players now a day are way to sensitive about things said in the media...according to SAS's 15 minute rant about being "incredibly offended" by what KD said to the media.

Talk about a needless story.

nixluva @ 10/5/2015 2:02 PM
I don't like SAS but I see nothing wrong with I'm defending himself. Sure he got a bit testy and braggadocios but that is just pride welling up. It's best for NBA players and athletes in general not to say anything rather than to attack someones integrity. It's just best to ignore the media questions which are often designed to get a bad reaction out of athletes so in this case the reporters got the controversy they wanted.
BRIGGS @ 10/5/2015 2:09 PM
Wow Im sure KD is shtin his pants. If you were an nba player--would you ever talk to do this due again?

Durant was attacking SAS or clarifying his own position? SAS reporting that Durant is thinking about going to LAL may hurt Durant's credibility and ties to the community he has today. Why can't he rebuke SAS's remark?

Cuz the Media won't leave it alone and in particular SAS who has a major platform to keep making statements and articles etc. I'm not saying he does't have a RIGHT to respond only that it's not worth the ongoing drama. KD didn't just refute the statements he called SAS a Liar, so he attacked SAS's credibility, which insured a full response. If KD had just let it go, it wouldn't have escalated but rather would die down like most rumors. Now it's an ongoing scandal because of the SAS response.

Maybe Durant doesn't give a crap about SAS or what his reaction would be and wanted to clarify things?

Stephen A lost all credibility after last year when he was suspended by ESPN:

“We know you have no business putting your hands on a woman. I don’t know how many times I got to reiterate that. But as a man who was raised by women, see I know what I’m going to do if somebody touches a female member of my family. I know what I’m going to do, I know what my boys are going to do. I know what, I’m going to have to remind myself that I work for the Worldwide Leader, I’m going to have to get law enforcement officials involved because of what I’m going to be tempted to do. But what I’ve tried to employ the female members of my family, some of who you all met and talked to and what have you, is that again, and this what, I’ve done this all my life, let’s make sure we don’t do anything to provoke wrong actions, because if I come, or somebody else come, whether it’s law enforcement officials, your brother or the fellas that you know, if we come after somebody has put their hands on you, it doesn’t negate the fact that they already put their hands on you. So let’s try to make sure that we can do our part in making sure that that doesn’t happen.

“Now you got some dudes that are just horrible and they’re going to do it anyway, and there’s never an excuse to put your hands on a woman. But domestic violence or whatever the case may be, with men putting their hands on women, is obviously a very real, real issue in our society. And I think that just talking about what guys shouldn’t do, we got to also make sure that you can do your part to do whatever you can do to make, to try to make sure it doesn’t happen. We know they’re wrong. We know they’re criminals. We know they probably deserve to be in jail. In Ray Rice’s case, he probably deserves more than a 2-game suspension which we both acknowledged. But at the same time, we also have to make sure that we learn as much as we can about elements of provocation. Not that there’s real provocation, but the elements of provocation, you got to make sure that you address them, because we’ve got to do is do what we can to try to prevent the situation from happening in any way. And I don’t think that’s broached enough, is all I’m saying. No point of blame.

Asshat repeatedly spits hot fire takes like they're going out of style!

Nalod @ 10/5/2015 2:39 PM
The Durantua drama had no hype so SAS tried to flame it. If it were NY Melo would have been brutalized by now.

Durant is a big deal in a little town and Im surprised his contract status has not been magnified until now in the media.
If Durant is healthy and he don't sign he will be traded. OKC won't let him walk without compensation. Question is does Durant have the stones to say "I won't sign if you trade me, I decide my own path"

smackeddog @ 10/5/2015 2:41 PM
The media are a joke- they spend most of their time making stuff up, exaggerating and pushing an agenda, but whenever they get called out on it they make out they are selfless purveyors of truth and democracy.

I found the hypocrisy hilarious- he denounces starts as being overly sensitive, right in the middle oaf a 12 minute cry and being called a liar!

thats exactly how i feel. lets be honest i think KD has gotten a pass for being a NICE guy. maybe it was the teary MVP speech. but recently we have seen KDs dark side with the press. you DONT want to make SAS and the press in general your enemy

Yeah, I would. He seems to treat his sources well and he has a solid track record in the nba. Plus, I doubt he gets most of his info from current players anyway.
