Knicks · Gone are the days of watching low IQ players (page 1)

Like Amare, THJ, bargnani, JR, and Shump. In are the days of beautiful basketball. The cats are moving the ball on offense; as well as, moving their feet on defense. I am still not sold on Calderon and Early, but the rest of the dudes are playing hard and smart. I believe we are going to surprise the league this season
KEEPCAMBYNY @ 10/10/2015 2:36 AM
I love it! Cant wait to see Afflalo in action. Btw, Derrick Williams is looking like he could be our new Camby off the bench. His energy just changes the pace if the game completely. I lovr how he attacks, it has been a long while since we had a swingman that attacks the basket, and can actually make a layup.
holfresh @ 10/10/2015 2:46 AM
My worry is that you needs athletes to play defense..Shump, JR and Moz made Cleveland a defensive team...We don't have athletes..We slacked off the jump shooters and dared them to shot and they missed...Our guys aren't quick defensively or reactive..Stay tuned..
Cartman718 @ 10/10/2015 3:14 AM
for the most part, early in the shot clock jump shot was something only carmelo had the green light for this game and there was a LOT of ball movement. i am not worried about the turnovers because mid season this exact ball movement will be crisper and more precise.

i am again surprised that thanassis didn't get any burn until 4th quarter 2 mins left.
derrick williams looked good surprisingly and vujacic is really cold blooded unconscious shooter.

lots to love on this squad.

Wizards aren't a good shooting team though so its not a bad plan vs them. They are athletes who pound the paint and play good defense. We have to see how we fair against a good shooting team. But its a real good sign that we were able to handle a big physical athletic team like the Wizards.

That kid KO is a monster. His skills set are exactly what we needed. From living in the DC area, I am very familiar with Seraphin; he is a beast down low and will certainly help improve our interior defense. But I still noticed remenance of the terrible perimeter disaster we saw last season; thus, I am led to believe that the players were/are not the problem. The coaching staff needs to change the scheme. I must say that Our interior defense is much improved. We now have to fix the perimeter, because the 3 ball will be used even more this season.
TPercy @ 10/10/2015 11:04 AM
Williams and Seraphin are still here. At least they do bring a lot of positive energy which is good to see.
nixluva @ 10/10/2015 1:03 PM
This is now the clear evidence of the kind of player that Phil prefers. You may always have a couple of guys who aren't the smartest but the majority of the team is smart and it shows in how they've been playing so far. They should get better but already you can see them thinking the game.
smackeddog @ 10/10/2015 3:09 PM
I worry about Seraphin- he keeps complaining about how the wizards wronged him for not playing him more mins, but really I don't see how we are going to offer him much more. Seems to be one of those players who thinks he's better than he is.

We didn't make a long commitment to Seraphin. I think he may know he has to perform this year for his next contract, which could cause him to be a bit selfish or he could handle it like a pro. It'll be interesting to see what happens. It's a long season and there should be opportunities for Seraphin to see good action. In the end he's in no position to really demand anything. We gave him an opportunity.

I think he'll get minutes even as the third Center. RoLo has never been a heavy minute Center, So O'quinn will likely see minutes at the 5 and the 4 in the starting lineup and seraphin will see minutes at the 4 & 5 alongside KOQ with the bench where his inside scoring will be more needed.

Gallo
Grant
D will/Early
Seraphin / Dwill
KOQ / Seraphin

is a pretty good look for 12 - 18 minutes a game.

My one big concern is Early, I have not seen enough to see if he deserves a spot. I think he and Thenasis probably need to be sent to the D-league to get more playing time

I don't know if Thanasis makes the cut. There are going to be some very talented players cut at the end of training camp. But reports were that the Knicks hired a new d league head coach because they were so disappointed in Thanasis's lack of development last year.

I would strongly consider replacing him with Papanikolaou

Denver waived Kostas a couple of weeks ago. I think his contract was about to become guaranteed. I don't know if he has been signed by anyone.

I'm not a big fan of Sasha, Early, or Seraphin. I think they are low IQ players. Not crazy about Jose or Lance either but that's just because I don't think they're very talented. Im sure we'll see some dumb plays from DW as well but so far he's picked his spots well. I love the rest of the guys out there.
LivingLegend @ 10/11/2015 7:14 PM
Would feel better if Pappy were a back-up SF option for us - I think he's a gamer who can pass the ball and I think he fits triangle concepts of movement, cutting / making proper reads.
Cartman718 @ 10/11/2015 9:37 PM
vujacic did not look like a low IQ player. i didn't see him take any shots where he wasn't wide open. and he passed willingly. i dont think early deserves a spot honestly, although he does look to be in really good shape. but i really feel he does not have anything better than a slightly better jump shot than thanassis... and thanassis defense is way better.

I think it is a little too early to give up on those kids. But if the right deal present itself, please pull the trigger
