Hes a big time loser. Many people are given tough cards. The NBA gave him the ticket out and he threw it away. Terrible role model waste of time.
Money isn't everything- how does playing basketball bring back his dead child? It's easy to judge someone rather than take the time to try and understand them and what's going on for them.
He was found dead messing with hookers and taking drugs. What does that have to do with a dead child? If anything he shamed the child many many times. Every family has heartbreak--not everyone acts like he did.
Unconscious is not dead. Praying for his health

It's called self-harm. Often when a person is emotionally overwhelmed, they end up doing something that is harmful to their health as a means to cope. This ranges from drinking after a "hard day at work", speeding, reckless driving, smoking, drug taking, starting fights, cutting, pulling out your hair, scratching, over eating, under eating, risky sex, burning, taking overdoses without the intent to die, etc etc (some people even remove their own eyeball- yikes!)- it is a desperate attempt to alleviate their suffering or can be used as a way to punish themselves. The methods and extremes people use varies, but it is very common among people- we all do it to some extent.
Often people who suffer childhood trauma (as Odom did with the death of his mom, his dad becoming a drug addict, etc), are then more susceptible to suffering when they suffer a further trauma (the death of his child, the death of his cousin, etc) as these new traumas can also reactivate the old ones creating a snowball effect.

Briggs, we all have our own personal strengths and weaknesses. Might be something you have no problem powering through that sends someone else reeling. And conversely, there might be things in life that have really laid you low that someone else might have moved on from much faster.
Odom wasnt built for the NBA. Im not talking about his game. He apparently couldnt handle playing in front of crowds without getting high first. From an early age, Odom had to self medicate just to play. The man had issues. Doesn't excuse some of the choices he made, but his demons are bad enough to put him at death's door. If that doesn't describe a problem out of someone's control, I dont know what does.

Sad situation. I hope he can pull through and get help.
Apparently the known genius savant JR Swish thought he was dead already too:

I'm hoping Odom pulls through as well.

with that attitude I do hope nobody close to you ever sruggles with addiction. Or depression for that matter.
Anyway I have heard he's not dead, but all his organs have shut down etc... its just book keeping at this point. Sad story. Good guy, couldnt get past his demons.
As a big fan of the game, you hope the people that bring you joy in certain aspects of life can some how find joy and peace in their own lives..From accounts, seem like Odom never did..Sad stuff..Hate to see this as the way he will be remembered..I hope he pulls this out some how..

Couldnt think of a more insensitive and ignorant way to put it.

+1
This is not the way he should remembered at all man
TMZ has an update. Apparently he suffered multiple strokes and is on kidney dialysis and not resposive yet. I don't know enough about medical stuff to know what that means, but multiple strokes sound like it could be a permanent brain damage situation even if he pulls through. Sad sad sad.

Lamar Odom had multiple strokes as a result of his medical emergency ... this according to witnesses at the hospital.
We're told an MRI revealed since being admitted to the hospital in Las Vegas Tuesday night, Lamar suffered multiple strokes. It's unclear if brain damage resulted from the strokes.
We're also told Lamar is on a 3-5 hour dialysis for kidney failure.
Our sources say Lamar remains unconscious and unresponsive, which is in contrast to what Jesse Jackson just told the media.

Forgot that big wigs are in town (Vegas) for the Democratic Debate..Thus Jessie Jackson..
No one can fully control his own mind.
Each of us master to do this to some extend.
Some more, some less.
In the world of Celebs is getting worth as no one carry about anybody but himself, money, and fame.
This kills good people. Kills for real.
If Lamar will die we are the once who killed him.
We who cherish and support the culture America is running on now.
Time to take a hard look at our-self and our values.
