I do not think Fish has any other choice...
They played together in the forth and it was solid and good floor balance.
The bench will be weak until Affalo is back but we do not have much choice...
What will your second unit look like?
WaltLongmire wrote:What will your second unit look like?
would not take out the starters
WaltLongmire wrote:What will your second unit look like?
Calderon, Sasha, Lance, D-will, OQ
Early can be there when ready...
Reserves should play reserves...
Ne cheating in NBA.

that would be awful.
Gallo or grant need to be on the floor at all times.
Interesting that Wally said the Knicks want to keep Galloway and Grant together. It makes me think they will wait awhile before moving Jose out of the starting lineup.
My desired SL has been Grant, Afflalo, Melo, KP and RoLo. I think there won't be a change until they see Afflalo in the lineup. They may stick with Jose unless things don't improve with a healthy Afflalo.
Jose sucking complete donkey dik just completely ruins everything.
We all knew he blows, but this bad?! 2 games in and he's already buttered toast. Can't guard a wall.
Fish has to cut his losses (literally) and start either Grant or Galloway ASAP,
Thought we could buy some time, but we could go from 1-1 to 1-8 quickly with this schedule.
Give Afflalo a chance its not that serious of an injury

Afflalo said he already feels better but the medical staff is holding him just to be extra cautious with a tricky hamstring. Just makes sense to be patient. No reason to rush anything this early.
Yeah, Calderon better start dropping some 3s on Saturday night, otherwise this is going to happen a lot sooner than it should have to. I was willing to give him 5 games, but right now it's looking like that isn't going to work out. I'm really confused though, because he looked pretty damn good against Boston during that last pre-season game.
If Fisher makes the change right now, it's going to look like he's panicking. If he waits too long, he'll get burned for that as well.
I'm still stubborn about not wanting to split up Grant and Gallo. But if you bring them both up to the SL, where does that leave Afflalo when he comes back? On the 2nd unit? I suppose that's do-able, because it would make sense that you'd want to take it easy with him on account of the recurring hammy issue, even though there's a good chance he'll end up playing the same amount of minutes anyway. And yeah, as other have pointed out, do we really want Calderon and Sasha with DWill and O'Q?
But I do want to give everyone here a very serious heads up about something that you might be overlooking. And maybe you don't really care in the first place, but you should. If Grant becomes the starting PG for the NY Knicks, as a rookie, you all do realize that the refs in this league are going to allow him to get mauled on a regular basis, right? I mean, we already saw it tonight, or at least I did. Get ready for that, and don't be surprised when it happens.

Hahaha. Good luck with that.
And now that I think about it some more, I'm starting to get the feeling that splitting up Grant and Gallo may in fact end up being the inevitable move, and that would kinda suck.
It is not a mat of Calderon scoring the ball, it is everything else that he can't do. The dude can't push the pace,as a result, even Carmelo's game ends up suffering. Guy are constantly out of position defensively, because our starting PG is too slow to keep up with the opposing PG.

That's true, but if he was at least scoring some points consistently, there wouldn't have to be such a rush or sense of panic about this. It would at least somewhat offset his deficiencies. Kind of like how Lance's somewhat consistent hustle plays and pretty decent defense somewhat offset his terrible shooting nights sometimes. He's got to come back on Saturday with SOMEthing, otherwise there's a really good chance this is going to get ugly kind of quick.

Not sure that anyone on the Knicks who might have given Wally info on this issue anticipated the kind of play Calderon would be giving us so far. You can't continue to stick to your desire to pair G & G if your starting PG is digging a hole for you each night.
I thought he would give us a better showing on the offensive end, but if he can't provide you with this, why play him at all, since you know he is a defensive liability.
Said it on another post...I give Calderon 3 more games at most- if he hasn't straightened out his game after that he has to sit.
Honestly...at this point I would prefer to see Trice starting over Calderon, considering how Jose has played so far.

If Affalo can get back. Calderon, Affalo, Thomas/Early, D.Will, KOQ.
I think that works. Affalo and D.Will can provide good 2nd unit offense as the focal points.
Grant and Gallo play good with KP since they are all very active poking balls away and running fast break.
So far every hole we have had to dig ourselves out of is because of Jose and ether his inability to break down the defense or his aweful defense allowing his man to blow by him at will.. Has cost us big... And how can all of us see this but not fisher or Phil ... The guy should be a back up 2 or just sitting on the bench in street clothes... Once Jose is out of the picture we will win more games and our shooting percentage will go way up.

Honestly a starting five of grant and Gallo with melo,kp,Lopez would be great... Anything to get Jose on the bench the better.
