Horford for his career has shot a
total of 65 three points shots.
He already has 8 in two games.
If you don't see how the game is changing to bigs shooting threes. Everyone who can will shoot it. If you can't shoot it, you are and will be a liability. If you are a liability (and can't shoot from distance) then you better be making up for it in a big way.
All new bigs will for the most part have the three as part of their game. This is what I really don't like about Ok4 and why I don't like Al Jefferson and Monroe. They can't shoot from distance and aren't making up for it with big time defense. Its easy to take away part of your game but if you can shoot from everywhere then of course you are much harder to defend.
Anthony Davis is a 3 point shooter now. Aldridge is working at it ...
KP has a great stroke and though its hard for old school thinkers to see that and realize its potential value, the rest of the NBA is getting it.
NO! He should plant his big ass in the post the way it's meant to be played, same with KP.
7 footers should remain one dimensional I'm told...
AD has shot 27 threes in his first 3 years. This year, he has already shot 7 in 2 games.
Cousins hit 4 in his first game. I'm playing against that bastard in fantasy.

no way! can't believe he is already joining the party.
74 in his career (.2 a game).
5 in game 1 (and he hit 4 of them - wow).
It allowed Korver to set up, and if you respect those guys, the interior opened up and the quick guards had a lay up feast!
The three opens up the lanes.
pull the big guys out nobody to clog the middle.
Good basketball if it works. Last nite ATL looked great.

exactly. Having your big hang out closer to the basket allows the defender to easily help and stifle any penetration.
to me, this is much prettier basketball then 90's snail pace and ugly offenses. So much more advanced and dynamic.
Of course, purists and the elderly will hate and speak to how great things used to be.
That is why it is big that we have KP6. If Horford was doing this then switch up and let KP6 guard him and RoLo guard the rim while guarding Milsap. We have 2 7footers for heavens sake.
Im not against KP taking 1 -2 3's a game. But the man is 7-3. He can create havoc in the post. Really there you could play at times 4 out with KP in the post. I like KP playing more like a Partick Ewing with his touch. Take the 12 footers take the east baskets-it helped us to win big for 10+ years. It draws in the defense and lets the offense spread. I dont want a 7-3 Steve Novak I want a guy who can give us 18-12-3-2--this will give the team a rock foundation.

patrick ewing brand basketball is not what todays game is.
KP should not take 1-3 3's a game, he should take what ever the defense gives him based on matchups. You are seeing things very narrowly.
12 foot shots don't stretch the floor. Did ewing stretch the floor? The 3 ball stretches the floor and pulls your man away from the basket.
Steve Novak? Is Anthony Davis, Horford and Cousins Steve Novak because they are shooting lots of 3's? Of course not, they are not one dimensional. You want to make KP one dimensional with your one dimensional thinking.
Briggs, have you tried at all to adjust your views a bit to this changed style of basketball that is currently being played?
I don't care for 18-12-3-2. What is 18? Points? How did he get the points? How many shots? etc ...
Matchups, Spacing, Stretching, Efficiency, Dynamics! Its 2015!

Nope nope nope. I dont want my 7-3 guy hanging out on the 3 point line. If he makes one in the flow or its close--then thats grounds to take another. I like his 9-12 FTs 1-2 from 3 game. Youre not going to get fouled hanging beyond the 3 point line. If he is setting picks and rolling back to a nice 3 and making them--ok. If hes hanging at the 3 point land and not making shots--its a waste of a player.

hanging out at the 3 point line? Have you watched him play at all?
His 9-12 happened because he is a 3 point threat. You can't see that? He took what was given to him. He is good at that.
Btw, its obvious that pretty much every GM would disagree with you. Look at all the bigs starting to shoot 3's. Bigs that I mentioned are going from shooting .5 threes a game to 5+ threes a game.
KP is not forcing threes, he is taking them in the flow. Soon they will start going down but he will/should continue not to force any part of his game. Take the most efficient shot available. The 12 footer is not even close to one of the more efficient shots available.
I want mostly shots from within 3-5 feet and from beyond the arc. That is the way the game is being (smartly) played today.
We gave it to Horford and he hit them. Ugly ass shot. It worked.
KP is not going to rain 3's as a matter of course. I have not seen this. I see him getting to the line and he has. So why worry about it?
Leave him there alone and he should hurt them. Horford hurt us then went cold. KP is a much better shooter long range. KP has a very good handle as well.
PUt KP on Horford he'll take him down low.
Its easy for fans to adjust in hindsight. ATL shot nearly 42% from 3pt. 50% for the game. We shot 20% from 3pt and 40% for the game.

Yup. You live by the 3 and you die by the 3. ATL proved this last season in the playoffs.
