Knicks · Post game observation vs Wizards (page 1)

TPercy @ 10/31/2015 10:02 PM
Yeah!!!! We finally cracked our losing streak against the Wizards in fine form.

Here are my thoughts:
Melo: MVP. 37 points 4 assists 7 rebounds and a block on 11 of 18 shots while playing some damn good defense. Job well done to him

Gallobuckets: Can we stop playing Sasha over this guy? It is incredibily insulting that a negative sum player is getting game time over Galloway. He shot incredibly well, rebounded great and played some incredible lock down defense.

Lopez: Showed the rim protection that we really needed and had some nice moments on offense. He needs to get more comfortable passing the ball and getting into the rythem of the offense.

Thomas: Great great hustle and smart play for the most part of the game. I think I was wrong about this guy, his heart and IQ(for the most part) compensated for his lack of talent.

KP: Had a nice 8 and 6, didn't really get featured as much.

Grant: Didn't play as great but it is nice to see that he can shoot the ball if he wants. He will adjust.

He stepped up. I loved that they talked about him putting in extra work. Also, I saw him calling the team together on several occasions when play stopped for fouls. And he talked about how the team had to stop Wall. He isn't perfect, is extremely talented and appears to be working on his weaknesses.

I hope so. He can't have too many games where he shoots 27 shots and does not pass the ball. Lets see how it plays out.

To me, game 1 was much more impressive because played well when his shot was way off.

Man you are a trip!! Melo plays a good game and you still have to say something negative. I don't post much anymore but I just had to say this. Melo is paid good money to shoot the damn ball and without him we loose this game. In game one they played well because Melo was double teamed all game long. Some one was always open.

Knixkik @ 10/31/2015 10:45 PM
Melo was awesome. Glad to see him break out. Gallo was equally impressive and should be starting PG but we know thats unlikely.

Right now it's unlikely. I wouldn't rule it out for the near future though.

As much as I want Gallo to start too! At least it seems fisher has realized who to close out games I'm hoping that KP and grant can graduate into closer roles by the end of the season or the beginning of the next season. One more thing as much as I loved lance Thomas effort tonight ... I'd like to see d wills minutes go up and take over some of those LT minutes

yellowboy90 @ 11/1/2015 1:55 AM
My observation is again the minutes played.Only two players played over 30 minutes and no one played over 36 min. That's awesome. Players are doing damage in a condense time frame. If they can keep this up it will be helpful for everyone.
wargames @ 11/1/2015 2:33 AM
Fisher did a great job coaching. It was weird to see a knicks team with enough depth that Fisher had players to choose from at the end of a game where so many had chipped in. Also Melo gettig Hot was great.

Felt like there were a lot of fouls called that game. What I liked most was that we never seemed to get rattled- I like the character of this team- the rookies get nervous, but the vets keep the team grounded. We seem to be a lot deeper than I thought we would be.

Can't wait for Afflalo to replace Vujicic, that starting backcourt is brutal at the moment.

Watching Calderon angers me.

Gallo has shown since last season he isn't afraid to take and make big three's- almost Fisher-esq.

Wizards are strange- they seem to be just missing something, but I'm not sure what. Great win!

Silverfuel @ 11/1/2015 5:30 AM
Melo was unreal. 61% FG scoring 37 points and 7 rebounds and hitting clutch FT's!

The thing that stood out to me was when Beal drove to the hoop at the end of the game and met Robin Lopez who challenged the layup. Beal missed and Melo got the rebound. In years past, he would have made that layup and/or if he missed Nene or Gortat would have been there for the put back. It would have been a completely different game after that point. Lopez is definitely changing people's shots. Blocked Gortat twice early in the game and forced Wall to shoot floaters instead of getting to the rim. What a great signing.

GustavBahler @ 11/1/2015 8:40 AM
Good game. Grant might have had his worst game so far. Not worried because Wall does that to elite PGs as well. Its also his first regular season game at his Dad's old stomping grounds, and his Dad was in the stands watching, might have been nervous. Grant also got clocked a few times, and I think it rattled him a bit. I think he has to get used to the physicality of the NBA game as well.

Galloway is turning into a legit starting SG. I know he's started a lot of games already, but that was when the Knicks had mostly D league talent to work with. His shot selection looks better from last season.

Lopez is showing why he is a great addition. His defense puts the offense in a much better position to win the game. I know Fisher is monitoring Melo's minutes, but Im guessing he's doing it for Lopez as well judging by the substitution patterns. Hey, if it keeps Lopez relatively fresh for the playoffs then Im all for it.

Thomas is turning into a real find. His best quality IMO is not his takes to the rim, but his ability to move without the ball which he is doing very well.

Melo shaked off the rust, thats going to make things easier on his teammates.

Calderon showed some improvement. As long as his game is headed in the right direction (on offense anyway) Im guessing that Fisher will keep him in the starting line up.

Overall this team definitely has an edge. The last Knicks team to have one was the 54 win season, but that really was only for half a season, until the vets started dropping like flies. Unlike other Knick teams, you hit these guys, and they will hit back. Its been a long time since we had anyone like O'Quinn. At least who wasn't at the tail end of their career.

Would like to see them get KP involved sooner. Nothing is really being run for him but he is still finding ways to have an impact. Still looking forward to Grant and Porzingis getting more PT together.

nixluva @ 11/1/2015 10:05 AM
This team is WAY more potent offensively than last couple of years. I can't wait to see how they play after fully gelling and at full strength.

Every minute our young players are getting this early is a plus for later in the year. I don't really mind the mistakes that much right now cuz it's a learning experience plus they all still play HARD, which is keeping the team competitive. This is a process and we have to let it develop naturally.

herkyJerky @ 11/1/2015 10:33 AM
So far, mreinman is the only one who answered this questions, but:
What do you guys think about Monday's game vs the Spurs? Think we got a chance? Remember, it will be the 2nd of a back to back for the Spurs. I think they might be vulnerable, and the Knicks I'm sure are aware that they're going to want revenge for that embarrassing loss to our 17 win roster last year. If Melo, Gallo and yes Thomas have the kind of night they had vs the Wiz, what do you think?
