Gosh poor Johnny Flynn what the hell happened? The guy had great potential out of college

Another guy that brings a tear to my eye is jay Williams that jersey boy could ball. He would have been great if it wasn't for that accident

Flynn was out for a lot of games with an injury (hip?) and things got worse from there. I believe he is in Europe now.

Jimmer got no NBA love so its off to Europe and who knows some scarey euro city awaits the fair haired boy and his lilly pure wife or a try out in Westchester as Triangle lord for the knicks.

Im sure by now he thought he'd be the white Steph curry and have the "Got Milk" ad campaign sewn up and his wife co-host of "awkward morning with Strahan" or their own Morman town by now!
Damn, even Utah passed on this kid?

Do I detect some anger or even racism in some of these posts?

Think, but am not sure, that Nalod is "white," so I'm not sure if this is racist.

Jimmer did get a lot of hype, though, seemingly more than he deserved, since there have always been those who wondered if he could play in this league.

There does seem to be a cult of Jimmer, though, and this is amazing for a guy who has done virtually nothing as a pro so far. I see a similar type of "following" for certain spectacular highlight-reel players or guys with spectacular athletic ability who we still believe can have a breakout year if given the right opportunity.

Glad to see that Trice was added to our Westchester squad...I'm much more interested in seeing how he, Sauders, and Atkins pan out at this point.

I don't think do. Would he be better than Jose or Sasha V? What the hell are those two doing for us? Those dudes are playing like a couple of hanger-ons at the end of the line. The only way to go is up from those two. I gotta admit--I'm curious about Fredette the more I think about him. I don't think he's some Steve Alford--I think Fredette still has a fairly bring future. He's already had more than a handful of impact games in the NBA under his belt. Worse case: Steve Kerr/John Paxson, better case: JJ Redick, best case: another Jeremy Lin? Why the hell not? Look where Jeremy Lin came from when we got him--how many teams had cut him before the Knicks gave him a chance? That dude galvanized this team/city like no one I've ever seen. Is it completely beyond the realm of possibility to think Fredette could have a similar impact? This is a kid from NY too btw.. Let's give it a shot. What have we got to lose? If he stinks it up, for the money he'll be making, cut him and look elsewhere for backcourt help.

worst case is kerr or paxson? How the heck can you say that? Worst case is one of the best shooters and efficient players of all time?

worst case is nate walters or johnny flyn or that he remains Jimmer Fredette.

Of course that's a possibility--that he doesn't make it at all. I'm trying to be positive and look at the upside which I think is still there. I know everyone thinks he's been terrible, a bust, what have you, but HE HAS HAD good flashes in the NBA. Makes me believe he can still make it... Jimmer said it recently when talking about joining the Westchester Knicks and using that as a springboard to grab the 15th spot on the parent club (you gotta like that he has a plan for himself with the Knicks--why not talk about it openly even if the team won't?) -- he hasn't found the right situation yet. Sometimes, that's all it takes. Look at Jeremy Lin before and after we got him. Jimmer needs us, we could certainly use him, and he's from NY. I like the fit the more I think about it...If he played well, I could see the fans really rallying around him here, maybe something close to 'Linsanity.' Of course, that's best case...Even if he never reached that level, is it that hard to believe he couldn't turn into a sniper-type role player a-la Paxson or Kerr??? I don't think so at all. Let's see what happens. I know the plan is to go through a D-League tryout period with him. Not sure what the deal is with that (trying to hype the Westchester team, sell some Westchester tickets--hey, it might work for me--I was telling my wife this morning I wanna take trip up on an overnight and catch a Westchester game sometime coming up--I actually like a lot of the players, not just Jimmer ) but what's more important--selling out a few DL games or adding Fredette now with our open roster spot and evaluating whether he could help us or not? I'd opt for the latter--why wait on this? I honestly don't think this guy needs a DL tryout, not with the amount of experience he has under his belt already. He's not some undrafted rookie that never made it at all. I'd add him right now. Let's see what he can do. Establishing the best NBA team and winning games at the NBA level should always be this organization's chief concern.

I actually like that we signed him to our dl team. I just have low expectations just like all the GM's do. Can he surprise and turn out to be an ok player? yes but the odds are stacked against him.

Guys like you love trying to find the diamond in the rough. I respect that as long as actual expectations are tempered.

The chances of him having a kerr type career is < .5 percent and that is being really really nice.

Kerr sucked... Im sorry. He tried hard on defense, and man could he shoot, but even that he only did when totally open. His job was literally stand outside the line and shoot open 3s when the defenses collasped on 23/33. As great as his shooting #s are he never once had to create his own shot, was never featured in any way shape or form, never had plays called for him. He had a very good skill, was very smart and made a good long career eating table scraps from some of the best players to ever walk on a court.

Anyway.. getting a guy like Kerr isnt the hardpart. Its getting guys like 23 and 33

The only thing stopping Jimmer from being Kerr is he doesnt want to. He wants to be a core guy that gets his chances. Kerr was OK only shooting wide open looks.

Guy shot 52% from 3 over 82 games. What would Jimmer's % if he only took 2-3 a game and only when they were wide open? Pretty good Im guessing. Steve Kerr...

I agree. Wouldn't necessarily say he sucked but come on man, Kerr was a role player. Less than a .5% chance of getting there for Jimmer?!? What the hell is that based on pray tell?

I think Jimmer still has untapped upside. We all know he can shoot--it's his best skill, hence the Kerr/Paxson comparison (same positions & size--those two weren't pure points but undersized shooters like Jimmer), similar strengths. The dude also has pretty good ball-handling/playmaking ability, better than I ever realized in fact (a big reason I feel he could be even better than those two). I think he's better here than Kerr & Paxson. Another big part of the Jimmer on the Knicks equation for me: could he be better than Jose and Sasha? I think the answer to that question is a resounding YES, he certainly could (whether that's saying a lot or not is what I'm interested in finding out). Those two aren't producing at all. I'd argue they're actually hurting the team. Jimmer's a good fit right now for a lot of reasons. I'd like to see this experiment underway asap. Why wait on this? The quicker we can get him acclimated here, the quicker he could help this team and the quicker we could reduce Jose and Sasha's involvement (getting Afflalo back should really help as well--my goal for the backcourt would be to have enough in place where Jose and Sasha start logging DNPs). Get Afflalo back and incorporate Jimmer Fredette--then go from there. If the Jimmer experiment went nowhere--OK, at least we tried. I'd applaud them for trying. After that, adding PG Bryce Cotton and/or SG Jabari Brown would be my fallback plan--two very good options to up backcourt firepower--both would come dirt cheap (could be like adding another Patty Mills and Marcus Thornton right here).

One thing at a time though. Given out guard weaknesses, specifically with Jose and Sasha, does this look like a guy that could jump in at the NBA level and help right now sans a DL tryout?

Check out the complete floor game on display here. Insane:

It's based on Jimmer crap career. The dude is one the D-League for a reason. I'd take it as far as saying that he has a < 30% chance of being less than Dan Dickau. Not saying Kerr is the greatest, but he consistently performed as a rotation for some of the greatest teams of all time. Have some respect will you lol

They're probably waiting for December when they can promote him on a 10 day contract if he plays well in Westchester.

Fredette has a lot to prove. Right now, he's just a guy in the D League.

AA on his way and Grant, Gallo sucking up minutes.

I think they brought up Galloway on a 10 day last year.

Worst case Steve Kerr? Why don't we just throw in Kyle Korver in there aswell?

I'm really glad we got him to our D League team, but this guy has not been anything special. He has maintain his good 3pt shooting but that is just about it. He is really terrible on defense and hasn't proven he can be an NBA player yet imo.

What is interesting is that combo guards have looked pretty damn good in our system. Galloway came out undrafted, busted his ass off in the D league and made All rookie second team and now looks like he can hold his own as starting SG in the NBA. Same thing is happening with Grant. However, these guys are defensive specialist, Jimmer Freddete struggles on defense. We will see how he pans out.

Nice to know that on the low our D League team is gonna look pretty interesting though..

fishmike @ 11/4/2015 8:44 AM
two types of guys that have to take the NBDL route... guys that were overlooked because they arent typical NBA prototypes. Maybe a small school, a bit undersized... someone like Galloway. The other kind are some guys just take longer to mature. Whiteside is an obvious one.

Jimmer's BYU days are LONG gone and done. This may be his last shot at the NBA, so hopefully for him he learns what it takes to be a usefull NBA player.

SwishAndDish13 @ 11/4/2015 9:36 AM
Amazing how people are always preaching on here about leadership, playing the right way the handful of players who we would support as ideal in the whole league, yet Jimmer who plays no defense whatsoever, and has no concept of how to play within an NBA offense is going to be the savior for a backcourt that has been sub-par for years now. WOW!

meaning the position he was playing against the Wizards when keyed the Knicks win? That position? To make the team better.

I'm pretty sure Galloway was mostly a SG throughout the entire game...No?
mostly yes... but he finished the entire 4th qtr for Jose so he was the PG at that point.

I prefer Gallo at SG also, but we have a big problem with Jose right now. I was hoping he would bounce back but he has been terrible. Gallo is very good triangle PG. Hits shots, can attack the basket and is a great defender. Most of all he doesnt turn the ball over.
