he played great...and in the last few game he is playing less and less...why?
Great question. How a guy can look like a star out there one minute and then hardly any minutes or shots the next is a head scratcher.
I haven't been able to watch the last few games though. He needs to create for himself, so I would say this is on Derek not stepping up.
Was thinking after the Wizards game that Fisher is being careful to corral Williams so the team has the best shot at winning. Williams needs to be predominantly a finisher in the offense, not a creater or bringing the ball up except when sprinting to the hoop in the fast break. He should look to cut to the hoop and dunk or pull up from short. Taking threes when open and in the rhythm of the offense is also OK, but he has looked bad at times just lazily camping outside and jacking up shots from distance without much body or ball movement. He does not look good initiating the offense. Also his man D has been weak, though as a helper he has been pretty disruptive slapping away the ball. I believe that Fisher wants to see DWill play smarter and work better within the system before he gets bigger minutes.
I think he can thrive still, but he is going to have to get better at working within the flow. Fortunately, he has some good passing instincts and appears to see the floor well so he should be able to improve. Knicks don't need another ball-dominant player who dribbles a lot, zig zags around and eventually jacks up awkward shots from wherever, which I think is the downside possibility of DWill.
Caveat: I haven't watched the San Antonio game yet.
He seemed to get his regular rotation minutes in the first half. Not sure why he didn't in the second half. Seraphin did get into the game.
He really needed to be out there getting shots up at the basket, esp. with Melo struggling (and no Afflalo). Maybe some Melo/D-Will together could've helped in the 2nd half--Leonard couldn't have guarded both of them, right? Overall Fish did the best he could last night I guess. Lopez had to get mins against their frontline, Kristaps had his best game so far--he needed court time, O'Quinn had some decent moments and has been good so far--he always deserves time and he managed to get Seraphin in there and I thought he looked pretty good considering he hasn't played. Looking back on it, we needed more D-Will--needed his scoring on a night we only scored in the low 80s as a team. I wonder if Fish was put off by those 2 bad turnovers he had early on (he also had 2 dynamite moves for buckets during that span as well).

Id like to see a little less Melo and more D Williams. I think Fischer has kind of reigned in Williams for free lance play but I think its a mistake. Hes the 6th man--he needs a little creativity and passion--let him play 24-26 and do his thing. I seem him trying to rebound play defense and even pass. He can handle and creates energy. I havent seen anything wrong with Derrick. We are giving too much to Melo---I dont think Fischer is a the right good coach--he hasnt show that yet.
im telling you folks, theres something up with DWilliams. Every where he goes, he flashes talent but coaches always put him on the bench. maybe its a practice thing? i have no idea. one thing i noticed on defense is that he tends to roam, doesnt stay to his assignments. uses his athletic ability and instincts to make gambles.
but i dont get it. i'm not a dwill fan but even i can admit he was playing well (better than i expected). so for him NOT to play raises a red flag

In 4 games his numbers look like THJ, 11pg 3 rbs .05 ast. His first instinct is to score, and on defense, he uses his athletic ability more than his brains.
He isn't respecting the game enough, he needs to play smarter, and little more calmer. You like his aggressiveness, but he needs to have a balance, nothing works well for long without balance.

It's okay, this is year 1 of the renovation. If Melo isn't in the plans for the long haul this is the right play. Dwill has a player option after this season, so he'll be seeking the big pay day with a decent season and be long gone.
We'll get more teamball free agents in the summer and resume growing our KP6 and Jerian crops.

and that is why phil is a genius. No way you give Dwil a longer term deal. Something just seems off with him. He really is JR but JR was much much better than him at this age.

DWill is not going to be able to give us on an every night basis what he gave us against the Bucks. Much like Melo, when he's not scoring a whole lot in bunches, he's going to have to do other things. I saw a pretty good all around game from him against the Wizards. I'm pretty confident that he will develop into a pretty solid all around player for us throughout this season, not just in the next 2 games, and for our future.

Thought Fisher wanted more size in the paint, thats why Seraphin got some minutes. Thought it was more about mismatches than anything else, could be wrong. Guess we have to find out what Fisher said after the game.

Well to be fair, Gallo is just a pretty damn good rebounder to begin with. But you're right about calming him down. But I'd be careful if I was Fisher about this. You don't want to totally calm him down. If you try to tighten the leash too much he will not be as good as he can be for us. You have to let a guy like that be a little wild. With good structure, that kind of wild will go a long way.

True, but a lot of it has to do with effort. He's more concerned about getting out on transition than helping out on the defensive boards. We'very all seen his athleticism. There's no reason why he shouldn't be scooping 8 to 9 rebs per 36 min.
