The Spurs game was his best so far this season. Not only did KP play great defense on a top player in the league. He was so aggressive on the boards, and protected the paint like a boss. At 20 freakin years old ! I mean wow talk about future defensive player of the year and a mt mutombo type presents ... The thing that separates him from other big centers even deke is his speed and agility... On the offensive end he will be great but with his kind of defense it's all gravy. I'd really like to see some off the ball screens to get him open free throw line extended when the ball is in the paint he seems to be able to hit that mid range shot off the screen at will...

God, why'd we pass on the Congo warrior.... 5.3 assists to 6.3 turnovers a game. You can't draft point guards with that assist to turnover ratio, they don't grow on trees.

mudiay needs to come off the bench. I would start whats his name - the fat kid nelson.

he seemed much more springy and active in the Spurs game than any other. He was simply aggressive, attacking the boards and shooting when he had good looks.

He just needs to show he can stay healthy. If he can do that I fully believe we have a cornerstone player. I like him at the 4 with big guys like Rolo at the 5. He looks great there, and has the mobility.

that is my only worry and its a big worry. if he can remain healthy, I think that he will not only be a really good offensive player but he can actually win multiple defensive player of the year awards (crazy I know)

I like him at the 5, which is his future position. I didn't see the game, but it appears he usually does well against slower PF....Its the fast guys that get him in trouble, when teams play their SF as a PF. The spurs have a traditional lineup, which matches up well with our PF and Center twin towers.

I would like to see KP start at center at some point and let robin anchor the second unit. I think my favorite starting line up and rotation would be.

O'quinn,d'will
Melo,LT or early
AA,Jose
Grant,Galloway

Point is, I think sooner rather then later KP should be anchoring the middle ... And Rolo has been very underwhelming in the starting unit ... I'd rather see the starting pg pass it in to O'quinn then Lopez. O'quinn has better passing ability out of the post, I like O'quinns offensive game better and he's a rebounding beast.

that will be short lived. In the future if KP has a 3 on him he need to get the ball 10 feet away and shoot it like I would when I scrimmage with my 6th graders. (to be fair I only shoot if the guy guarding me wanders off).

He just needs confidence. Having KP at the 4 creates a wall at the basket. KP has the length to get beat, chase guys and block shots from behind. Not ideal but beating him off the dribble isnt a gimme bucket. Not even close.

He's very thin, I know Garnett played some center, but PF gives him more freedom. Ultimately his position should be determined by his strengths. Right now PF makes some sense, spares him some contact and gets him in the SL. So far so good.

Best he's looked in a Knick uniform to date. Didn't shoot a high % last night but man, you could tell he had a different approach right from the opening tap yesterday. I wanna see him build on that now. Stay aggressive and his teammates need to help him keeping building on that performance--get him the ball a little more now. Night and day difference between how he looked last night and the Wiz. game where he was pretty much non-existent. Real good step in the right direction.

seems we like KOQ at the 4, but I think he's much better suited for the 5. The further from the rim the slower he gets. He's very quick and a good shot blocker down low. He's very long, like a 7'6 wingspan. Thats pretty incredible.

Wow KP has impressed .. With his kinda potential he's right up there with Karl Anthony towns.. Prob a higher ceiling then K.A.T with more strength KP will be better defender! Sky is the limit for this kid!

KP likely will not win ROY. But in three years, if he stays healthy, he is going to be the best player in this draft (or at worst second best to Karl Towns). The kid plays defense like a young KG, with Mutombo like effect on the defensive end. By year three, his outside shooting will be automatic, and no one is going to be able to effect his jumpshot given his height. Plus, he will also develop a post game. This kid is a cross between Dirk and KG, only taller than both. He is going to be a once in a decade type player who should grow to average about 25 pts, 10 rebounds, 3 ast, 1 steal, and 2.5 blocks a game, which would be All-star numbers.

I'm just trying to keep calm about this kids potential. How quickly did he address his rebounding issues from Summer League??? Man it's like someone hypnotized KP and told him he was Dennis Rodman. He's pursuing rebounds like crazy and WE LOVE IT! The insane thing is that he's not even close to his Physical or overall game potential yet. This is him just hustling but not yet fully developed. It's hard to contain my glee. It feels good to have this kind of hope for the future again.

I agree he's a mix of kg and dirk on the offense defensively I see a faster deke. I could see 25pts12rebs3plus blocks per which would mean in 2 to three years a top 5 player in this league...

Let him stay aggressive and dirty on defense so the refs let him play like k Lenord and KP will be unstoppable

I'd really like to see more plays run through KP I think even by the end of the season he's going to rack up close to 20 per

Who would have thought that at this point we would be talking about KP and his D, while doing more complaining about his offensive game.

I did the "Case of Porzingis" thread before the draft, and made some comments about defensive potential, but nothing in the many video's I had watched made me think that he would be this advanced defensively this early against NBA level competition.

Does he still make some rookie mistakes on D...yup, but his movement and awareness on D, which was evident a bit in SL, has been pretty amazing.

He holds his own down low, seems to learn and adjust as the game goes on, is deceptively quick in getting to where he wants to go defensively.

There was one play where one of the Spurs drove left trying to take a baseline route to the hoop against one of the Knicks' guards. KP made one or two sidesteps to the right, showing he would be there to help his teammate, and when the Spurs' player stopped, KP immediately moved left, and had his arms extended waiting for a possible kickout pass to his man.

I have 0% concern that his offense will come around, but his defensive presence alone makes it necessary to have him on the court as often as possible.

Most of Aldridge's points came when KP was out of the game, by the way. You can make a case that in yesterday's game, Porzingis outplayed one of the most sought after FA players signed this year, and a guy who plays the same position he does.

Four games into his NBA career and we are already seeing things from him that many of the so called experts- and a lot of guys on this board- did not think he would be able to do for 3 or 4 years.

Hope the injury is minor- would love to see him play against the Cavs, not sure that is going to happen, though.
