When your starting pitcher is getting hit inning after inning you just gotta yank him.
Jose -7
Sasha -17
combined 1-8 FGs, 2pts in 42 minutes. Not getting it done.
Gotta figure Sunday we see a change
+1 - They are painful. I'm tapping out on that. Just make it stop. Take one of them out at least. The 2 of them at the same time is basically a power play for the other team.
+1 I CAN ONLY HOPE
WHAT EVER HAPPENED THE KNICKS PURSUIT TO DANIEL HACKETT?
Agree. Their strength is supposed to be their offense. No reason to keep hoping things change.
Call Jimmer up, sit Jose down.

ONe spot. Do you want to give it to Jimmer is it worth chasing someone else? Also, is Jose just done? The smart play is to not react to soon but two open roster spots would be nice.
I'm sure Phil and Fish will soon make a decision about Jose. He's literally killing the team. Sasha will slide back when Afflalo is brought back. It's been rough to sit thru but I have to think they can't let this continue. Jose won't complain and they gave him a fair shot to show what he can do. The timing has to be about right for a change.

I was telling you how bad Calderon was as a player after the trade but you and others torched me..Welcome!!..Halirious..
Wishful thinking. I don't believe Fisher is smart enough to realize that Jose is a problem

Stop it! You couldn't possibly have known Jose would fall off this much offensively. We knew he couldn't defend but shooting...? If you could perhaps point to anything in Jose's last year in Dallas that would substantiate this I would love to see it. Nothing in his performance with Dallas suggested this kind of drop off. Sure you could just guess that his game would fully collapse but that wouldn't be based on anything but conjecture perhaps due to age that he would be this bad 6 games into the season. Both Jose and Sasha are shooting so far below what you would expect that it's shocking. Shooters don't usually drop off like that.
I would guess that Phil and Fish were thinking maybe it's a slump cuz it's so dramatic a drop off. In any event this will get resolved soon enough. I'm sure they were hoping Jose n Sasha could hold the fort a little better so that they wouldn't have to rush things. I wanted to see Jerian win the starting PG job but not this way.
I talked about the need for Calderon to stay aggressive and try to shoot his way out of it but I think we're beyond that now. He's was putting up shots last night. All good enough looks but all BLANKS! And all jump shots--we'll never see anything going to the hoop with this guy... Change is imminent. IT'S GOT TO BE!! I think Sasha may still be salvageable if used in spurts (his shot's not dropping either but he plays a quicker, higher-kinetic game than Calderon. Plus he's got size which we'll need at times, trying to cover bigger 2s. He's driving the ball, showing decent quickness and overall playing aggressively. Jose's the one that needs to sit--and no offense to him at all. He just hasn't brought it and looks done as a player. It's painful to watch--I don't even think it's fair to him to keep throwing him out there.
It's a simple fix -- Afflalo makes it back soon (I think they're saying he'll be back on this next road trip some time), either Grant or Galloway gets promoted to start along with AA and then there are several quality, young low-cost guards out there--hopefully we're contemplating adding at least one of them:
Erick Green
Bryce Cotton
Jabari Brown
Jimmer Fredette
Say Grant/Afflalo backed up by Galloway/Erick Green along with Sasha V for spurts. Calderon DNP. Why on Earth couldn't we do that?? A few adjustments like that won't ruin chemistry. I think they would galvanize this team! Glad to hear AA will be back soon. Then it's time for mgmt. be proactive and add one more viable guard that's capable of contributing. Not too much to ask--I'm not asking for a major trade or even for anyone to get cut.
Was going to do a similar thread...still on my computer-fell asleep. Mine was titled:
Bucks' Loss Will Lead to Change
Figured that this game gives Fisher and Phil as perfect setting to make some changes. All the better if Aflalo can start.
Let Calderon work himself back into the regular rotation through performance, and give Sasha some regular minutes on the second unit.
This is something Phil and Fisher have to do together, since benching Calderon is a hit on Jackson's performance as a GM, but to keep up the pretense of believing that Calderon has something positive to offer the team at this point in the season is self-deception of the highest degree.
What about Early at the 2? Does that have possibilities?
Everybody wants to move players. What about the coach? I know Phil won't do that. Then u have Calderon. But for the same reasons as fisher.....Phil want do that. It comes down to too much stubbornness on one team. Melo....fisher....Phil.....nobody wants to give a little. Admit their fault. Change their game or strategy. Instead all three will go down with the ship instead of simply changing the ship design to prevent from sinking. It's early still.....I just hope we not having these same discussions after the holidays.

Most people knew he was going to be trash, he can't create offense or defend anyone in the league. I'm pretty sure his shooting averages are high because he makes very few attempts per game. He's been horrible for a long time. I can't even see him being a good bench player for us but who knows until Fish tries it out.

Didn't you start a thread the other day about not changing anything?
We're probably going to get Afflalo back and he will start with Calderon.
What should happen is Gallo start with Afflalo and Grant is the 2nd PG.
But Fisher isn't going to do that, because why?
He sees (or doesn't see) something that we don't (or do) see.
Yeah, if Fisher waits much longer he is going to hear it bigtime at the Garden.
Man, our starting guards are just sad.
I really really wish we had kept that Shved cat. What a waste to let him slide. Would have done the stretch on Calderon and hired Sasha as an assistant.
If Shved was here I bet we have 2 more wins.

Where did he go, and how much money did he get? Did he get more money than what they're giving Sasha?

I think it is worth a shot. If you play Gallo and Grant as your point guards he could fill out a 4 guard rotation if you make Jose the 5th guard. Also, once Afflalo is healthy you have another guard to throw in the mix. I do think Fish likes how the second unit functions with both Gallo and Grant.

Big +1 on keeping Shved. Berman confirmed the other day toward the end of one of his articles that Shved was willing to take the $2.8mm exception. Wasn't like he bolted on us for Russia like some speculated--his first choice was to resign here. CONFIRMED by a beat writer who covers the team. I actually think Phil got pissed at him for not adding any weight/strength in the offseason, something he asked him to do in his exit interview. Only when Phil wouldn't budge off a vet min. offer did Shved opt for Russia...I actually like Seraphin as a player (does he really fit here though? I mean if we're not gonna really use him...) but I think Shved would've been the better fit and would've finished off that backcourt. We really miss him.

I agree about Shved but I think his being frail made him a high injury risk. I believe he had to sit out of euro basket because of a back injury. I do think Grant is the future for the Knicks at the point. They just need a better place holder than Jose.
