Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris shoot reboundable misses.

And get rid of Monroe?

Getting rid of a paint clogger who can't rebound and a long time chucker are helping Drummond's cause.

Nonetheless, 29 and 27 are impressive under any circumstances.

that is the point that I keep trying to hammer home. Having bigs clog the lane is no longer considered good basketball. One clogger maybe but certainly not two.

The fact that Monroe can't shoot from anywhere beyond the paint (at a decent rate) has and will always be problem. He may get his own but not sure how his clogging will help his teammates.

His shooting numbers are also way out of whack this year and I am sure they will come down to his career numbers (great from 0-3 and terrible from everywhere else).

I agree that's why I feel Monroe, KP & Melo would've been a dynamic tandem. Offensively and on the boards

KP ain't making up the defensive liabilities of Melo and Monroe.

Never underestimate the power of contract year money..

it's a forgone conclusion that Detroit will sign him for the max, so it must be something else.

gunsnewing @ 11/9/2015 5:16 PM
Yea but Monroe helps us get easy baskets so we are no longer a team that relies heavily on inefficient perimeter shooting. Monroe isn't as bad a fender as people make him out to be. 10 boards counts for something. I agree with Mreinman's point about Drummond and Monroe clogging the lane. Can't have both of them in today's today's game but you do need someone who gets easy buckets inside otherwise good teams will make you pay by forcing you to take long jumpers or off your C and PG rendering it 3 or 4 on 5 like we saw with Felton/Tyson in the playoffs
gunsnewing @ 11/9/2015 5:24 PM
There needs to be a threat of scoring inside 10ft so the perimeter loosens up. Same as how you need guys go can shoot so teams can't stack the paint. Since we don't have that kind of player we need multiple guards who can penetrate and right now grant is the only one

Looks like he is playing 8 more minutes per game..per 36 adds three more points and rebounds to his totals from last year..So maybe now Monroe is gone means more shots and more rebounds..No knock on Monroe..

6'11", a 7'2.25" wingspan, and his 36M adjusted shot blocking is .7/game.

Has a good base for battling players down low, and will take the charge, but he's not that quick, and for the most part, you don't feel his presence on the defensive end of the floor.

You need a certain group of players around him to make up for his shortcomings. Having the Greek Freak helps, because Parker also has a poor rep as a defender

Wonder how Detroit would be now if they had lost Drummond and kept Monroe?

KP needs to be that guy (eventually). Teams need players today who can do both (stretch the floor and score near the basket).

AD, Towns (perfect modern player), KP, Cousins (but he is an idiot), Horford, Even Dre Green, Gasol (can't hit threes but he still stretches the floor somewhat)

Players like Monroe, Al Jeff, Ok4, Monroe, Dwight, Tyson (to some extent) allow teams to collapse. If you can't stretch the other teams defense then you better damn well be winning rebounding titles and DPOY awards to make up for it.

It just gives Drummond the space. Drummond is something between a Dwight Howard and a Shaq. Hard to believe Andre turned 22 3 months ago. I think wed have to go back many many years to find a player averaging 20-20 after 7 games. Hes 280 pounds and hes very fit.

Can't hit the 3, though

I'm actually a little surprised that he has not had a single assist the entire year...almost impossible to imagine. Something he needs to work on, I would expect.

You would have seen a lot of him at Connecticut, I assume. I'm going to guess that he took the sport up later in his life, but I don't know his background at all.

Did not realize he was so young.

haha ... suckin up a bit?

Rodman would never have been asked to shoot a three (though he still took some SMH). Ben wallace to.

They ain't a KP/AD types.

Knew I would get a response from one of our new age stat guys

Heck, this guy has to work on his foul shooting- will make a big difference for his game, and how other teams deal with him.

I knew that you were baiting me :-)

Hack-A-Dre ... right around the bend. 40% eeeesh.

Lets not crown him yet ... remember its ONLY 6 games.

Anyway ... 20 boards a game? Whats with the water in Detroit?

Must be the friggin lead. I think that game was worth around 59 points on my defense heavy fantasy league.

Having a center that clogs the lane is not good basketball anymore???..Only one fool who I keep trying to get that across is you..Drummond with 29 and 27 rebounds so far isn't good basketball, he isn't shooting threes..Detroit is 5-1 largely due to the lane clogging center..Tim Dundan been clogging lanes for years..

Fool is you.

Duncan stretches the floor!! ... you kidding me with this comp?

And as I said if you'd cared to read, if you can get 20 rebounds a game it will make up for many deficiencies.

Funny guy (clownish funny)

Shaq would be ok today.

No 29 and 27 needs to be points from the three..Then he will be efficient..Wilt might be ok today, not sure about Kareem..

yeah the guy who sees the game exactly the opposite of any pro/GM/coach in todays game.

Tell me how much Harden sucks again please. Or how Howard is still one of the best players in the game. Or how great of a HOF coach Woody woodfukker was. Or how great of a coach/gm/molester your boy isiah was/is.

read again, I was complimenting Drummond (other than FT%) and knocking Monroe.

Now you can go back to being a putz and drooling over your boy Mudiay.
