Knicks · My Letter Of Apology To Lance Thomas (page 1)

FireWoodson @ 11/11/2015 11:16 AM
In the past I have been very hard on Lance "Can You Believe He Went To Duke" Thomas. After last night's performance I feel bad about that, so I am sending this letter of apology to Lance:

Dear Lance,

Last year when you got signed to the Knicks I laughed at you. Big deal, you made a team that won ten games. A junior high school benchwarmer could have made last year's Knick team. Then when I saw your horrendous play I just thought Wikipedia got hacked -- Wiki said you played your college ball at Duke! I learned Wiki wasn't hacked - you really did play ball at Duke - so then I figured you made the Duke team due to affirmative action.

Well, I apologize for being wrong. Last night you proved that you can play ball. I am a man, I can admit when I am wrong.

Sincerely,
Fire Woodson

I was coming on here today with a thought of starting a thread going out to all the haters of L.Thomas on here (you know who you are) and he really got a lot of hate on here from certain people while a few of us liked the move of bringing him back. I commend you for being one of the very little amount of people on here that can admit when they were wrong about any player or anything else Knicks on here. I'm gonna go ahead and pat myself on the back for being one of the few voices on here that actually saw the positives that Lance brought to the Knicks but i'd love to hear some more of the haters admit they were wrong about Lance but probably won't. Good job to you. We can talk about all the Rolo haters on here as well cause he's showing his value as well and he's been getting a ton of hate on here as well.

This guy is like Jared jefferies and Shandon Anderson, some games he's going to look good, others he's going to be completely over matched athletically and look bad... It's up to fish to see when he has good days and bad when to play him and when it's time for him to ride the pine
fitzfarm @ 11/11/2015 11:34 AM
Yesterday was a great day for Lance you can really see how hard he's worked on his game in the off season
Nalod @ 11/11/2015 11:35 AM
Lance is a low priced role player. JJ and Shandon were paid like prime time.

True I didn't think about the $ part just the game part

Lance Thomas is a rich mans Shandon Anderson Jazz Edition.

No commending necessary. I'm a man, I admit I was wrong about Lance.

Did he suck last year? No. But he was playing on a team that had 10 wins, so whatever he was doing did not make one think Thomas could really play. And I definitely questioned his pedigree. This guy went to Duke? This guy won a championship with Duke? Nothing he showed last season backed that up.

He's progressed. I put it down to confidence. He's taking his shots. He can shoot. He is definitely an asset to this year's team. Good for him.

I agree. They said he put on 15lbs of muscle in the offseason. He is another guy that can guard multiple positions and fits well next to Melo. It seems like he has taken more than 6 threes this season.

That may be true for him on the offensive end but his biggest value he brings is his defense which will be something he can bring every night. This kid can guard multiple positions and can do it well. It's not about the stats they put up.

I disagree. I saw the energy he brought last year and heard from multiple players and coaches what he brings in the locker room and on the bench. He was one of the players i was hoping we would bring back so obviously he showed something for me and the Knicks organization to bring him back. It's not always about the stats.

Or because very often, young players get better with experience.

ChuckBuck @ 11/11/2015 11:59 AM
Lance is worth every penny so far for $1.6 million this season. Pretty much won us the game last night.

Didn't even know he can hit 3s!

TPercy @ 11/11/2015 11:59 AM
We all knew the intention of bringing Lance Thomas back. It was to bring back continuity within the time with Lou Amundson and someone who can motivate the rest of the team to keep working hard in games and in practice. I was against this move because I thought it was better to go for guys who had a higher talent level+upside while still had a good work ethic(I.e: Thanasis, Ndour, Wood...) because they will set a higher impact on the team in the long run.

Lance Thomas actually looks like an NBA rotation player so far compared to the terrible D league performances he was putting out last season.Meanwhile, Ndour still without a team and Thanasis couldn't get a run of games during the preseason. Kudos to him for working hard and improving.

See the massive energy Greek Freak II brought? Think he should make the team?

Energy is not enough for NBA. The other two 10 day contractors last year -- Lou and Stymie - brought a lot more than just energy. They definitely belonged there last year and this year. I believe Thomas made the team this year simply because he improved his game. He showed much more in Summer League and I suppose he was showing a lot more in camp. He impressed the organization this summer/fall so he made the team.

No, it's confidence and I have to say this has to go down to Fish and his way.

We can laugh at Fish's rotations, plays-after-timeouts, reliance on triangle....but one thing is clearly evident with Fish: he can coach young players. Mr. Clean, Stymie, and Lance Thomas all have benefited greatly because somehow Fish instills a strong sense of confidence in them. Did it work with Hardaway? No. And that's because Hardaway is clearly a hard case. His ego was far too big for a second year player. Hardaway shut out Fish while Stymie and Thomas have not.

Fish is responsible for the rise of Thomas. No doubt. Constantly praising these young players after the game, giving these young players opportunities strengthens their game.

Jeffries and Anderson never learned how to shoot. Lance has surprised with his improved outside shot.

That was jefferies and Anderson too their defense earned them big money... I do agree the kid brings it defensively... LT hitting his shots is gravy. I love that you can see the hard work is paying off for Thomas ... I will say before this game he was frustrating me with his lack of athletic ability.
