of course you did not just throw out this insane idea? wow!

Hey- it's not something I want, but I think it's an interesting question, and likely one that will eventually come up before the trade deadline.

NO IT WONT!!!!!!!!!! smack! you have to be kidding me!

I'm sorry, but if you are truly a long time knick fan, then smack is absolutely right. And this is why it's so difficult to attract decent players or grow home grown players. Trading our top assets will always be in the headlines, because we have a culture of having a fan base that lacks patience. Especially when you have a slumping Melo who's your biggest asset at 120 plus mil, and he's getting older. And a owner like Dolan, who makes rational decisions. The only difference this time around is Phil Jackson. We finally have somebody decent as a GM, with the right credibility to block Dolans crazy moves.

No way!

was there talk about trading Ewing in his rookie year? Of course not! Never.

generally I would say this is always a possibility but Im pretty sure KP is untouchable for anyone short of Lebron or Curry.

maybe curry and AD but not lebron and def NOT FOR FREAKING RETARD COUSINS

anyway ... if he plays exactly like this for the rest of the season and stays healthy, he is beyond untouchable.

This is not Gallinari

Dolan is not making basketball decisions.

Considering Cousins is still pretty young, i'm not sure Phil would say no if Sac offered Cousins straight up for Porzingis (along with fillers like Calderon, etc.) And as great as LeBron is, do you think it's really worth trading 20 year old Porzingis for (about to be) 31 year-old LeBron? LeBron and Melo would probably have a 2-year window which would require great health and instant chemistry. That vs. 12 years of Porzingis has our foundation player. All hypothetical of course.

wow! I am speechless.

phil would throw away his phone if he got that call. Are we talking Dolan or phil? Dolan would trade KP for Rudy Gay.

I could be wrong, are you sure about that? He's a 25 year old superstar big man. Someone we probably already offered the 4th pick and other assets for. And sac wanted way more than what even LA had to offer.

I, for one, disagree completely.

ChuckBuck @ 11/13/2015 1:30 PM
Not sure about accolades or career arcs or where they both end up in history....Porzingis will be a better teammate, role model, and person than DeMarcus Cousins ever will be.

Either that or reverts back to GangsterZingus again...

herkyJerky @ 11/13/2015 1:40 PM
But it would be nice if KP could develop a nice post up game. It could happen. We'll see. But yeah, despite that one glaring difference between Boogie and KP, I still would not want to trade KP. For anybody.

yea I always forgot Lebron isnt 27 anymore... I mostly mention him because he's the biggest name in the sport, attracts other players and is still in his prime. Think Boston/KG trade. Its not a basketball move I would make, but its business no-brainer and this is 100% a business.

Im a KP koolaid drinker so I wouldnt trade him for anything

More than anything, if we and KP play our cards right, he should be our own homegrown franchise foundation player for 15 years.

Watching the journey unfold for KP, like watching Jeter's journey, like David Wright's journey, or Eli's.

Potentially if everything falls into place, an all time Knick, and we get to see the peaks and valleys in between.

It's so much sweeter to watch one of your own grow.

My only worry about KP, is I remember how psyched we all were about Channing Frye in his rookie year, how he was the next Tim Duncan, how he was untradeable, etc etc. I just need someone to tell me we're not just doing the same thing with KP- he really is awesome isn't he?

So here's the thing, there were only a handful of people thinking that Frye was the next TD or whatnot, so the story is not the same, not even close. I don't remember exactly but I think Frye was a senior coming out of college? And there were plenty of people talking about his weaknesses that had not yet gotten exposed but were right there in front of everyone. I recall specially thinking that Frye's footwork was slow, poor and Bippity mentioning that he either played against or knew people who played against Frye during the summer and that he was weak down low.

No one thinks that KP is going to be average.

Correct- people were down on the channing frye pick, which probably played a part in the hype when he played well in his rookie year.

However, for pure nostalgia:
