that 3 that he took at 6:20 just shows how dangerous he is from deep. He brilliantly faked that he was going to the hoop off the pick, the defender backed off towards the basket protecting the cut and disrespected his outside threat (just as one would do against most non stretch bigs), KP backpedals to the three BOOOOOOOOOM!

It's just pure fun watching this kid develop! 😍
KP has taken his career seriously so far. He puts in the work and he's showing the progress.

Nix, the shot selection (for the team) is a problem. Way too many mid range shots. I know you won't agree or think that it is our guards ... what say you?
A poster in the game thread thought KP looked a little bigger- I saw the same thing when they had a shot of him on the bench during a time out (I think). Upper arms looked a bit larger and were clearly more defined.
After all the talk about his strength...or, more accurately, his lack of strength, KP has really put that "issue" to rest. If he can hold his own physically at this stage of his maturation, you can safely say that it won't be an issue moving forward.
Putting him into the fire from the start has really turned out to be the best thing they could have done. The experience and learning he is getting from his first 11 games against an assortment of opponents and teams really seems to be helping him.
He was lucky to have had an opportunity to play against Davis, (Who left tonight's game after 6 minutes, by the way.) even though Davis had a good day against him.
Playing against so many different types of top PFs this early in the season will prepare him for almost any other player he will see down the road. We all know that he is going to have his up and down stretches, and still make some awkward rookie blunders, but he is clearly ahead of where even the most optimistic of us thought he was going to be at this stage of the season and his young career.
Tonight was pretty exciting, and it was made better by the fact that it took place in the Garden, in front of some who probably booed him when his name was called in late June.

Yea that was me I noticed he looked bigger when he went to the free throw line... All the hard work is paying off... I like what you said in your post, well said. I think sky is the limit for this kid.. We finally got some draft luck! Finally!
Porzingis is just the 21st player in the last 30 years to put up 29 and 11 before his 21st birthday, joining future MVPs (Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal), future All-Stars (teammate Carmelo Anthony, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, Luol Deng, Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, Rashard Lewis, Amar'e Stoudemire, Antoine Walker, Chris Webber), current rising stars (Bradley Beal, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Nerlens Noel, Tobias Harris) and Lamar Odom (Lamar Odom). He is the youngest Knick ever to put up 25 and 10. He is the first Knicks rookie to put up at least 27 and 10 since Patrick Ewing, who got an up-close-and-personal look at Porzingis from the Hornets' bench, where he served as Steve Clifford's associate head coach.

KP is closing the gap there. BY the end of this season those who'd swap now might be singin a different tune.

Thing is...you wouldn't. Not even if Towns is Rookie of the Year.
KP's ceiling is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much higher than Towns. Towns projects to a really good starter, maybe even an all star. KP....man, we're talking if he fulfills his vast potential, Jabbar and Wilt territory.
This is a once in a lifetime talent we're seeing growing and developing before our very eyes.

this post is silly. i love kp and am extremely happy he's playing so well, so quickly. but to try and pump him up by shitting on towns who is already averaging 15pts/10rebs/2blks is stupid. towns ceiling is just as high as kp's.

I agree. Both should be great players. Have to recognize Towns is one of the best young big men to come around in a long time. He will be a top 5 player in the league someday. But KP will hopefully be in the same category as well.

I agree with this. Towns is special. KP is special. Mudiay and Russell and Okafor can all be special.
The 2015 draft feels like one of those drafts where the league gets a bunch of great players all at once, like the 1996 draft or the 2003 draft. Obviously time will tell, but Towns being great doesn't mean KP can't also be great.

It isn't though. Not shitting on Towns, his ceiling is lower. Use your eyes. One is 6'10 and one is 7'3 and still growing.
Just stating the obvious. Towns doesn't have the range nor the quickness and length of KP. Towns has a more polished post game at the moment, but KP is already displaying the "Dream Shake" and "Dirk Fallaway" which are more advanced offensive moves.
Just open your eyes man. It's not silly at all, just use your eyeballs.

Yeah...I like both players, too, and I think both have a chance to be special.
Early returns give you the feeling that this will be an excellent draft class. Many good players who are also good guys with some intelligence.
I understand that you can't anticipate injuries, and some players will not meet expectations, but 5 years from now this might be considered one of the better drafts we've seen, and its great to see that we just may have landed one of its best players.

I've been a Towns fan for ever....Especially during the Towns vs OK4 debate.
But KP and Towns are in different categories. KP is a 7'3 small forward......moves and shoots like a small forward with power forward post moves and center like block and rim protection. KP is the new type of big man......Towns is the old school big man.
I think there's plenty of room at the top for both players. No need to compare the two. They both bring slightly different skill sets. Towns looks so stiff compared to other 6'10 guys....You would think he's 7'3 and KP was 6'10......But I think both will be at the top of the league, next to Anthony Davis and KD, as far as the NBA bigs of the future. I'm just happy we got one of the future greats, at the very beginning. And he wants to be here for his entire career. Gotta luv that!
