anyone see Bryn Forbes 11 threes? we know he can shoot, the question is can he do anything else?
BRIGGS@ 3/3/2016 12:30 AM
This is a potentially really good G draft. I think you can find bigs you can throw on your SL team if you would like from the undrafted portion of players. Here in this draft--guards are like CB's in football---needed and wanted--high value and there are a bunch of them.
You know--we probably cat get a 1--maybe we can--but as of now no. But 2nd rounders are going to be there and I think teams can walk out really well if they are open minded and smart.

Maryland/Indiana on right now, channel 2 -- Ferrell vs. Trimble. Good game so far.
Finestrg@ 3/6/2016 5:23 PM
Absolutely LOVE coach Crean for Indy. Dude's about as intense as it gets pacing the sidelines, he stresses up-tempo ball, good shot selection AND defense, holds his players accountable, knows his talent.. Always a good interview--very open and candid. No nonsense--tells it like it is. Nothing but success in college--at Marquette, now Indy. Dude's out there slapping the floor right now on the sidelines!! Never seen a coach who cared more. Wow. Thumbs up on this guy all the way. Probably will be a college lifer but if there's ever a college coach who deserves a shot in the NBA (if he ever wants it) this is a guy who should be on your short list. No question.

I'm not the biggest coach crean fan. yes he loves his job, yes he CARES and yes he can recruit but ive always felt like he has underachieved....especially at Indiana. my cousin marshall who played at IU back in the day met coach crean and said hes the nicest guy in the world. hard to NOT like him. but from an X&Os standpoint, i feel like they kinda free lance alot on offense. He likes these small guard offenses with lots of creativity and effort. i have the same beef with jay wright at villanova. When i watch them, im always like "WHAT are they running". they always seem disorganized. however the bottom line is at indiana he hasnt done much - except a sweet 16 appearance when yogi was a freshmen
PS spoken like a true coach knight fan. lol

crean and IU lost to a bad michigan team...how shocking

the legend of Ben Simmons continues...
he might have played his last NCAA game. his LSU team lost to #17 Texas A&M 71-38. Now i know his team isnt great but they still have a top 20 roster (with two McD All Americans, a couple nice SEC players from last yr) and of course big Ben. There's absolutely NO WAY in hell, a talented LSU team should lose to an over achieving Texas A&M team by 40pts. At the very least, this lottery pick shouldve made them more competitive by HIMSELF (great players usually dominate inferior NCAA talent). Again,i have my concerns about him being a franchise player at the next level. If he cant even lead his team to an NCAA bid or even an NIT bid, then im skeptical about him at the next level.
jrodmc@ 3/14/2016 1:28 PM
Monmouth's in the NIT.
Nobody seems to care if that bracket got leaked.
jrodmc@ 3/17/2016 3:50 PM
Iona getting rocked by Iowa State.
Yes Virginia, I have an agenda.

BRIGGS@ 3/25/2016 11:31 AM
The player I did not see this year until the tourney who has been physically impressive is Dillon Brooks He looks an awful lot like Khani Leonard at sdsu
callmened@ 3/25/2016 12:05 PM
excellent player. a gamer, athletic, defend, shoot. during the season he was a lil streaky but a consistent leader
WaltLongmire@ 3/25/2016 12:50 PM
Quite interesting that most of the anticipated top picks in the draft are now spectators.
Ingram is out, along with his unsportsmanlike companion Allen:
Murray is out
Simmons never even got into the tournament.
Kentucky, California, and Michigan St. all had multiple highly ranked players on their teams according to the DExpress rankings, and they are now sitting.
None of this means that the players in question won't be good pros...I just find it fascinating that having top ranked college players did not translate into tournament success in so many instances this year.

yep. thats because NCAA basketball and NBA basketball are two different sports. In the NBA its about mismatches. if one player is better than the other then that gives the team an advantage(scoring, kicking out to shooters when doubled, foul shooting). In the NCAA, teams can zone and shadow so much that mismatches are neutralized. the ncaa game is about good decision making, avoiding foul trouble, making foul shots and emotion. the nba is about mismatches and adjustments. yes, they both involve throwing an orange object thru a hoop but two different syles

I wonder if phil kept an eye on Isaiah Whitehead. He's very slept on and could possibly slip to the 2nd round.
edit: never mind, he probably doesn't fit in phil's eyes. I think Isa could be a steal though.

Marcus Paige is another PG in this upcoming draft who makes some sense for us. You figure this dude goes mid/late 2nd round - undrafted. He's got a good deal of talent for a guy that may not get drafted...He's had a down year but I think a lot of that might be attributable to the broken hand he suffered before the season even started. Missing some early games and then playing SG upon returning could've thrown him off early on as well. If you look at his stats in prior seasons, he's been much more productive. Having an off yr his senior yr hurts his stock but could help a team like the Knicks. Cameron Payne was a late lottery pick last summer -- is there really that much separation in talent between Payne and Paige?

That Syracuse game was unbelievable. Can't wait until Sunday. My son turned 20 today. He was born the day after Cuse beat Mississippi State when they had John Wallace. I still remember timing my wife's contractions and watching Cuse. The Knicks played the Magic on that Sunday and I believe it was one of those epic Ewing/Shaq battles.
